In the annals of cable news gaffes, this one won’t be a classic. It’s nowhere near the Kyra Phillips in the loo clip. But we’re in the doldrums of a fairly slow news day and this is worth a chuckle. Maybe. Fox’s Martha MacCallum refers to Bill Clinton as Hillary’s “former husband” during a discussion on Live Desk earlier today.

Wait…they were married?

For any other woman in America he would be the former. I am glad Hillary made it clear she wasn’t the “Stand by her man” type of woman way back when the Lewinsky story first broke.
LakeRuins on November 27, 2007 at 3:55 PM
just long enough for her to use bill’s name to become a senator of a state she never lived in.

I’m looking forward to the nutroots accusing Fox of intentionally slandering Hillary. You know, the orders to commit that slip-up had to come from the top…

Hillary Clinton is the only excuse for adultery that I can think of.
Just kiddin’ … kinda.
OhEssYouCowboys on November 27, 2007 at 4:02 PM
Heh, Martha is a sweetheart.
ThackerAgency on November 27, 2007 at 4:06 PM
Damn straight; when a woman is that pretty AND that smart she can say whatever she pleases. This is America, damn it!

I almost watched that clip but then I saw Baba Strident and just couldn’t do it….

And the best part is that Bill agrees with her.

I didn’t know Bill was a lesbian…

Babs and Hill, one old battle-ax promotes another.
I smell farewell concert XXXIV

I could watch Martha all day

The Clintons remind me of Tom Cruise’s and Nicole Kidman’s former marriage. They had such low chemistry and displayed [poorly] only scripted affection.

It is legitimate to ask if Hillary will stay with Bill if she loses the nomination or the Presidency.
Any guesses.

Martha and Julie Banderas make me feel funny in the loins.
infidel4life on November 27, 2007 at 4:29 PM
I hardly think this is even a “gaff”… It’s just a quickly corrected misspeak. Fox has plenty “gaffs”, but I just don’t think this is one of them.

Here, here.

Why divorce? They’re apart most of the time now. She’ll run him off even if she is elected. Why do you think she has planned for him to go on a world-wide tour?
Old Joke –
Bill: “Look at that poor man pumping gas. Hill, if you’d married him, you’d be the wife of a service station attendant.”
Hill: “If I’d married him, he’d be President.”
BacaDog on November 27, 2007 at 4:46 PM
Don’t you have to fulfill the role of a husband at least once in your life to be labeled a “former husband”?
We are talking about Bill Clinton, aren’t we?
fogw on November 27, 2007 at 4:52 PM
They could give her her own show teaching needlepoint and I’d watch every bit of it. Not only gorgeous, but she looks like she’d be fun to be around.
stacman on November 27, 2007 at 4:58 PM
When has she demonstrated her intellect? I missed that episode or the tabloid morning news.
The Race Card on November 27, 2007 at 5:46 PM
She’s one of those CNBC transplants. She has been doing business news for a long time. Many business news people don’t use scripts. At fox she uses a script, but she’s a smart chick.
ThackerAgency on November 27, 2007 at 5:59 PM
Great info. I know what you’re saying about business reporters; many are quick on their feet. I’ve always like her, though I never really got a sense of her intellect. Now I have another excuse.
The Race Card on November 27, 2007 at 6:31 PM
Or a Shepard Smith’s BJ reference.

That! made me laugh out loud. Priceless.

I doubt if Bill and Hill will ever get a divorce? Why bother? They each have enough money, thanks to book and speaking deals (once she’s out of the Senate she can charge the big fees, too); they have at least two residences, and a press willing to let them go and do what they want and get away with it. Why get a divorce and ruin their “sham”? Hillary has too much invested in her man to admit she’s been wrong about keeping him around.
No, they’re each other’s albatross.
Qzsusy on November 27, 2007 at 9:13 PM
I just think its appropriate to ask if she will stay with Bill if she loses.

He should be her former husband. He cheated on her about a dozen times.
SoulGlo on November 28, 2007 at 2:40 AM
Get ready for another funeral if Hill’s polls slide and a focus group shows that her numbers would improve if she were the ‘Widow Clinton’.
Of course I’m kidding. No-one would go that far just to win an election…right?
Doug on November 28, 2007 at 11:21 AM
Once again we see evidence of that vast right-wing conspiracy that Hillary warned us about so long ago. That poor lying woman and her misunderstood adulterous husband.
LEAVE HILLARY ALONE!…..literally. Put her on a deserted island or something and let her start a new world order there.
