Thanks for quoting the song my First Sergeant Father sang to me when I was a kid. I heard that long before you enlisted. And on my Fathers worst day he would never accept Defeat as you seem to have. “Mature”? My old man would have made my rants look like child’s play, and would end up making you feel so small you’d have to look up to keep the ants from pissing on you.

Perhaps I’d rather be “immature” than accept Defeat. Count me among the ranks of Nelson, Wellington, Eisenhower, Patton, Grant, and Travis who would rather accept the cost of Victory than accept the consequences of Defeat to my country.

For you State Dept wienies out there reading this. Undermining US policy is a dangerous way to keep your country safe, and makes soldiers grow to resent your mealy mouthed platitudes ever more. Don’t piss ‘em off. They have guns! Next time you want to talk to the press, KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!

I dunno, could be I suppose, but he just doesn’t sound real mature to this ex soldier.

Right. Like all your Commanding Officerss were the type who said “we should just be nice to the VC and the NVs. They’ll leave us alone.” Perhaps your “maturity” has gotten in the way of you actually trying to get something done for a change, Pops. My stepfather and Mother have even been brainwashed enough to think the War in Iraq is going horribly. And they survived the Great Depression, and World War II where hundreds of thousands starved, and hundreds of thousands died in combat, the latter just in the American Armed Forces. Comparisons of that type make the comparator look stupid or senile. Which are you?

The loss of 4000 brave Men in 4 years notwithstanding, the War to change 1.4 BILLION Muslims’ attitudes, and just over 200 million of those attitudes absolutely insistent that American citizens are fair game for slaughter anytime, anywhere, would statistically seem to be going pretty well. But perhaps you don’t truly understand the long odds faced by 1.4 million American servicemen and women to change that Muslim World and create something better from their efforts. If it was easy, it would be the Girl Scouts.

If I don’t sound “mature”, perhaps it is just because I don’t suffer failure gladly. So why should you, Old Man?

US Navy, several (4) submarines as crew, built one from scratch, two submarine squadrons as staff, COMSUBPAC Staff, and Office of Secretary of Defense as a Counterdrug wienie (hey, the OSD had over 1000 military officers assigned on the staff, so a Counterdrug wienie would be one of many unimportant billets which just had to be filled, and that was just how I filled it — unimportantly. But finding out just how professional the military is compared to politicians and political appointees was eye opening). 1980-2001. Retired as Commander.

USS Tautog, USS Francis Scott Key, USS Hartford, USS Rhode Island, Comsubron 3, Comsubron 20, Comsubpac staffs, OSD

Been to the North Pole twice and WestPac once.

One team of physicists has a breathtaking explanation: “It is the unmistakable imprint of another universe beyond the edge of our own,” says Laura Mersini-Houghton of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

It is a staggering claim. If Mersini-Houghton’s team is right, the giant void is the first experimental evidence for another universe.

The war is going extremely well. You’d never know it from the defeatist surrender talk of the cut and run surrender monkey democrats and their fifth-columnist uber left-wing media allies, but the fact is that the Iraq War has been and is a roaring success by every meaningful standard. I often listen to a radio program to which active-duty service personnel frequently call in, and I can tell you that the optimism, confidence and morale that I hear in their voices truly is sky high.

The only one recurring sour note comes from the realization that if not for the aid and comfort provided to the Al-Qaeda terrorists in Iraq by the America-hating liberals and democrats in this country, our boys job would likely at this point be all but finished, ready to hand things off to the Iraqi army, the Iraqi police and the Iraqi government, and all set to board those ships and planes for their eagerly awaited trip home.

When I think of the needless deaths and suffering our boys have had to endure as a direct result of the machinations of the democrats who want to surrender just as soon as they can, it is very, very difficult for me to contain the intense anger and outrage I feel. In fact, I’m all set to volunteer as an interrogator at Guantanamo – just so long as I’m permitted to take a couple of plane loads of democrats down there with me.

I think we should just trust our wonderful President in absolutely every decision that he makes and we should just support that.
