WSJ: Meet the Paulnuts

Pretty thin, actually, for the simple reason that they don’t detail much actual abuse. But read it anyway for the quotes. I like this one from Erick at Red State:
“Basically, it got to the point where someone could put up a post saying they were going to the bathroom, and a dozen Paultards would comment, ‘Vote for Ron Paul while you’re there,’ along with another dozen warnings of the Zionist conspiracy in the toilet,” says Erick Erickson, founder of popular conservative blog Redstate. A month ago, the site banned posts from some Paul supporters, branding them “MoRons.”
The Journal, bless its heart, even scared up a comment from Stormfront founder and proud Ron Paul supporter Don Black. David Freddoso cites Paul’s failure to disgorge Black’s donation in today’s NRO as proof of his political artlessness but concedes that accepting and retaining the money doesn’t mean Paul’s pro-Nazi. True enough, but it does suggest a curious indifference to a constituency, however small, that’s recognized universally as evil. One can imagine a logistical headache lurking here if the Paul camp has reason to believe it’s received lots of donations from Stormfront members whose identities it doesn’t know; that would leave them open to oppo research teams potentially uncovering new Klansmen donors potentially every few weeks, in which case it’s better to set a blanket “we’ll accept anyone’s money” policy now and get the issue off the table. Is that what’s happening here? Do they think they have a white-supremacist problem among their contributors? If not, why not just dump Black’s money and get rid of this nuisance? He’s not a guy even a self-styled maverick like Paul would/should want to go to bat for on principle and, like Freddoso says, it’s killing his mainstream credibility.
Exit question: Whither libertarianism?

Hmm…it appears I’ve been voting for Ron Paul ever since I was potty trained.

Ron Paul does not and will not disassociate himself from groups like the neo-Nazi’s and the truthers and the white supremacists because while he may not agree with them, he also does not disagree with them either.

The “MoRons” do serve a purpose by creating an outlet to identify and marginalize themselves. Traditionally, it has been a wait-and-see approach to casting light on nut-bags. This gives them a platform.
Paul’s campaign is the political equivilent of a Roach Motel.

Add a new phrase to the American lexicon.
“That breakfast burrito is churning up a wicked cramp. I’m going to vote for Ron Paul.“
natesnake on November 26, 2007 at 10:17 AM
its not just Neo-Nazi’s supporting Paul, the latest American Thinker piece on this exposes Communist support for Paul…..think about that, Communist supporting a Libertarian, they know a useful idiot when they see one.

The Paulnuts actually make me reconsider my opposition to Gov’t health care. At least then they might get the thorizine they need.

I think this ‘neo-nazi’ and Commie support paul is getting should shift from the support itself, to WHY they support him. And it is because of his foreign policy, which would help the Commies and nazi’s of the world.

Pull the lever for Paul twice, my friend. Don’t forget a courtesy

Ron Paul communicating to its followers.

Interesting. Kind of like saying “sometimes, Robert Downey Jr. stayed at the party just a little bit longer than he should have.”

Heh. Best laughs of the weekend, bro.

Those ron-bots are starting to piss me off.
They were in front of Best Buy and Fry’s Electronics on Friday
They were in front of Qualcomm Stadium yesterday before the Chargers game and were running around the parking lot
Goddamnit, just go away you idiots.

The latest Paulbot emerges.

This is so pathetic, Allah. Geez, is this all you ever have?
Have you ever challenged him on the issues? I’ll go check.
Like the great threat from Ron Paul is the few racists who support him. Or worse, citizens actually involved (however annoyingly) in the process! God help us! Isn’t this sort of democratic involvement the thing Bush is trying to encourage throughout the world?
My sense is that the threat resides with his ideas, not the few racists who send him money.

And sometimes, posts just write themselves.

I was in Hampton, NH campaigning for Rudy yesterday, and there were five Ron Paul freaks outside the town hall auditorium with Ron Paul banners. I had a verbal battle with them and finally realized just how crazy they really are. I shot down each and every one of their arguments, then they came back at me talking about tasing, the federal government turning into a fascist state, and the constitution not being upheld.
Who are these people?
Its Tommy on November 26, 2007 at 1:14 PM
How does a candidate respond to these complaints? Does Ron Paul have to come out in every public statement and repudiate the views of these racists? How many times does he have to do it?
It seems like the expectations for Ron Paul are quite unique.
LaRouchians in rehab.
gabriel sutherland on November 26, 2007 at 1:26 PM
the debate should be centered around why these types are supporting him.

What a deep understanding of libertarianism you have, Mama Bear!!

I’ve been trying to decide what to name the Ron Paul Blimp–yesterday I was leaning toward calling it the Ronulan Anti-Warbird, but today I’m thinking it would be more appropriate to his cultists just to call it the Mothership.
Even if Paul wasn’t regularly getting in bed with Alex Jones, I could never support a candidate who’s been the cause of so much extra spam being brought into the world.
