Video: Metaphor of the day

It’s the MySpace equivalent of “Moby Dick” — a metaphor for something, obviously, but what? The effects of Bush’s Iraq missteps on the GOP’s election chances? The erosion of the soul denied the iPhone it’s been pining for? The melting confidence of the blogger whose traffic continues to drag? What?
I think this is going to be my bad-news counterpart to the humpbot video.

Allah…are we talking to ourselves?

Not anymore now that you’re here.

Very nice production and art design.
Hollow bunnies always feel like a rip to me, I prefer solid.
Drat, now I need to go get chocolate.

That was kinda sick, and I love chocolate!

Its a metaphor for The Bushitler’s time in office!

Maybe I’m too simple-minded, but all I got outta this is: Keep yer chocolate bunny away from heat.
JetBoy on November 26, 2007 at 6:29 PM
The iron crushing the bunny was what a Hillary presidency would do to America.
The heat lamp on the bunny is what was supposed to happen to the other Republican candidates when Fred! entered the race.
The blow dryer was questions about Mormonism.

That’s just wrong.
The hair dryer one was horrific!
And now comes the weird dreams tonight.

It’s the music that makes it melancholy. Imagine it with this music:

I posted this in the Lott thread, but thought it deserves attention. Perezhilton.com, a highly viewed Celeb Blog, is reporting as fact that Trent Lott is involved in a Gay Prostitute scandal and thats why he’s resigning. It appears to be propaganda, but of course many eyes have read this already….
jp on November 26, 2007 at 7:07 PM
If it’s propaganda why are you posting it here?
Allahpundit on November 26, 2007 at 7:09 PM
b/c its being widely read, I’m assuming its propaganda/b.s.
Perez gets like 70k per ad on his site, it gets huge traffic.
jp on November 26, 2007 at 7:13 PM
I think the video clip represents an acid flashback. (with really bad 70’s porno flick background music)
FishFearMe on November 26, 2007 at 7:13 PM
OK…of course I just had to watch this video over and over…trying to “get it” (and I was an art major)…I even went to the source, and who made it, and for whom…but still, nothing.
This is gonna bother me all night now.
JetBoy on November 26, 2007 at 7:14 PM
How about gradual the melting away of our children’s innocence?
Or maybe the clip’s creator just had too much time on his hands?
jman on November 26, 2007 at 7:14 PM
OK…I think I get it:
Chocolate signifies everything good (how could it be otherwise?).
I didn’t get the heat source until I saw “blow dryer”, and I realized it had to be HILLARY!!! (and a bonus double entendre to boot!!)

You know, I think it was someone’s attempt to mimic the Peep videos you get every Easter. I mean, destroying Peeps is way more fun, and done in way better ways, than just melting chocolate bunnies.
Meryl Yourish on November 26, 2007 at 7:45 PM
It’s an ad for the latest Palestinian children’s program, “How the Jews Used Global Warming to Kill the Easter Bunny.”
RedWinged Blackbird on November 26, 2007 at 7:46 PM
Ah, the Rorschach Bunny Test. My interpretation…shall remain private.
They shoulda waterboarded the bunny though. More topical.
inviolet on November 26, 2007 at 7:53 PM
I figured it out. global warming melts cute bunnies and somehow it’s bush’s fault..
Guardian on November 26, 2007 at 8:11 PM
The metaphor is how a liberals mind reacts when faced with reality.

I have always found that music somewhat arousing.

How about gradual the melting away of our children’s innocence?
jman on November 26, 2007 at 7:14 PM
That was my first thought, too.
The music isn’t melancholy by itself. It’s an adolescent girl still “la-la-la”ing contentedly even as she knows that her entire perspective on the world is changing with her newly blossoming adult-ness. So I think it symbolizes the changes ongoing in the “woman-child” just before she begins to really notice them.
Or not.
Tuning Spork on November 26, 2007 at 8:22 PM
That video was beautiful.
The bunny obviously represents the alpha male. Although his exterior seems attractive, it is a weak facade - easily pierced by the heat of life and hiding a hollow, boring interior.
At least, that’s what I want to believe.
Slublog on November 26, 2007 at 8:29 PM
My little girls’(5 yrs and 9 months) pediatrician is from India. The 5 year old says that he is a “chocolate man”. This video suggests that modern inventions of the white man, i.e., the iron, etc., are indicative of the eveel white man’s desire to rid the world of all “chocolate men”. Or,as someone posted above, maybe it just shows that heat melts chocolate. Or something.
FishFearMe on November 26, 2007 at 8:40 PM
Okay so heat CAN melt chocolate,Rosie what’s the point.haha
canopfor on November 26, 2007 at 8:47 PM
If he did, it would have been the iron that melted.
Allahpundit on November 26, 2007 at 8:48 PM
Gay prostitution?… or the more likely reason I heard on FNC earlier today. Evidently a law takes affect in January that keeps retiring public officials from becoming lobbyists until 2 years after they leave office. So if he gets out before the end of the year, he won’t have to wait that long.
RightWinged on November 26, 2007 at 8:53 PM
But his core?
Still totally hollow.
Slublog on November 26, 2007 at 8:57 PM
How about combining several of these comments?
Chocolate represents everything that is good.
The bunny represents the innocents of nature
The various heating implements represent technologically created global warming.
The little girl audio represents how humans go blindly along their way ignoring what is obviously right in front of their noses.
…
or another possibility as was pointed out by MirCat on November 26, 2007 at 6:24 PM

The first time the humpbot appeared here, AP said something about finding it hilarious yet hoping no one saw him watching it lest they think him mentally challenged. I feel the same way about this one.

All three apparatuses use electricity. If it’s an attack on progress, all those who toiled over the millennia to invent/perfect it, weep.

If it’s art then where is the dripping faucet or the suicide note? Hmmm? Hmmm!!?

MirCat on November 26, 2007 at 9:49 PM
No, the hair dryer was the best one. The movement of the melted chocolate was hypnotic and an excellent visual example of chaos theory.
It was well done. I’m not sure what the artist wanted it to mean but to me it was how I felt whenever I got one of those hollow bunnies. I always thought it was a rip-off and generally smashed them to bits before eating. .
jmarcure on November 26, 2007 at 10:01 PM
A waste of perfectly good chocolate. I’m metaphorically challenged.

I can’t believe I’m commenting on this retarded video but…
It represents a destruction of the environment at the expense of our health, plants, and family.
-bowl of fruit. -Cacti. -Family portraits. All in the background while our beautiful planet (the bunny) is being melted away by electric appliances… all by the hand of man. ooooo
Then again, I think it’s just a retarded video.

I was into it until the jihadist decapitated the bunny
This is obviously subliminal terrorism despised as a love story. We need a video that shows the attacker getting fried. That would be sad, yet happy
