The CNN/YouTube GOP debate questions

I made the mistake of wading through the questions for the Democrat debate, setting the precedent that I’m honoring today by wading through the questions for the Republicans. In this case, we already know that there is at least one good question that could get picked, but won’t. How about the rest?
Here’s one about “the real terrorist threat that we face.”
Somebody melt this guy already.
Hotness and border security. Hey CNN, pick them if you don’t pick us.
“Muslim-American” doesn’t exist in the dictionary either.
One man enters, one man leaves? This one is a gimme for Rudy.
I never realized that the Grim Reaper wore a wool blanket.
Take me to your leader.
One word: Gravitas.
After sifting through thousands of these things…not impressed. Lots of questions about gas prices, lots of conspiracy theories, lots of jabs about health care and lots of hits on Republicans on everything from gay marriage (which most Democrats don’t support) to blaming Bush for every single thing that has ever gone wrong.
Update: Yes, Red State Update did submit a question. Only, it’s more like a tirade.

Am I first? Hope so. I said from the get go it was a stupid idea; everybody wanted it though so let’s just wallow in it. Just remember as each cringeworthy question is asked, these are your fellow citizens and they are going to drag you kicking and screaming into a Hillary presidency, our first ugly marxist female President.

This is going to be such a circus…
MadisonConservative on November 26, 2007 at 3:02 PM
In a way this might be good. Id will cheer for any Republican that stands up there and says in responce to a really bad question
“That is the dumbist thing I have ever been asked. We have a war going on and our country is threaten. We need to worry about on nations economy and other issues important to the American people and not cater to a fringe group who knows very little about how the world works”
William Amos on November 26, 2007 at 3:07 PM
The ‘muslim American’ one gets in. Guaranteed.
bikermailman on November 26, 2007 at 3:07 PM
So did Jackie and Dunlap get a question in the pool?
(Red State Update) I can’t view any of these from work, In fact not even your screen caps are displayed, all I can see is your captions.
LakeRuins on November 26, 2007 at 3:08 PM
If global warming is really the number one terrorist threat we face,
is it then OK to waterboard Al Gore?
…. just askin’…..
Always Right on November 26, 2007 at 3:09 PM
Is that front page picture of Hillary Clinton with or without makeup? I just can’t tell.
OhEssYouCowboys on November 26, 2007 at 3:10 PM
Lame, Lame, Lame!! This whole idea is stupid, and anyone who values it deserves the leadership that values it as well.
MNDavenotPC on November 26, 2007 at 3:11 PM
Circus no, carnival freak show is more like it.
doriangrey on November 26, 2007 at 3:14 PM
A mockery.
James on November 26, 2007 at 3:17 PM
Can we just skip this and go with a debate format with more dignity?
see-dubya on November 26, 2007 at 3:17 PM
I said it was stupid before I didn’t say it was stupid. I try to withhold judgment, but I’d like to congratulate myself for hammering on this early and often.
A You-F#^$ing-Tube debate? That’s so last month. I wanna see the MTV/iPhone debate, in which you have to submit questions via an Apple iPhone to Total Request Live. It’s critically important that questions be submitted via iPhone. If you have to ask why, you just don’t get it. You’re probably old (50s maybe) and shouldn’t be voting anyway.

Whenever you think they lowered the bar as low as it could go……….
No wonder the third world crazies think the time is right to conquer the rest of the world.
Hening on November 26, 2007 at 3:26 PM
Here’s one …..
You knew this debate was moderated by CNN, yet you showed up anyway.
Do you like being publicly humiliated?
fogw on November 26, 2007 at 3:31 PM
And the candidate who tells him to take his “pledge” and roll it up tight in a copy of the Bill of Rights and shove it up his Muslim-American a$$ gets my vote. Guaranteed.
saint kansas on November 26, 2007 at 3:32 PM
I have a question for the republicans…
What would you do to ensure that people who submit their videos for these YouTube debates SPEAK INTO A FREAKIN’ MICROPHONE! And I’m looking at you, Dennis Kucinich!
Nethicus on November 26, 2007 at 3:38 PM
To answer the first idjit’s question: Why would anyone spend $9 trillion dollars to deal with a problem that adaptation would cost roughly 1/3rd of?
Canadian Imperialist Running Dog on November 26, 2007 at 3:38 PM
Always has been OK. We just keep a tub of water with a few apples in it in case we get caught we just say ol’ Al was showing us how to bob for apples.
As for the Muslim guy that’s an easy homerun answer- “Sir, I’m a heck of a lot more concerned about the people who are being killed by the Islamofascists than the people who are offended by the term Islamofascist”
trubble on November 26, 2007 at 3:39 PM
The war on climate change, bound to be the biggest failure since well… the war on drugs and the war on poverty
libertytexan on November 26, 2007 at 3:40 PM
Can I say “pussy” and get through the filter? Lessee…
Can someone explain why Kucinich is such a pussy that he’s only targeting the old guy with the bad heart? Haven’t you heard, Dennis? Bush is the real terrorist. The prize fish! You guys stopped using the “Cheney’s the real president” line back in 2002.
Seriously, I don’t want to have to strap a condom around my computer just to check out his site. What’s the schtick? Why Cheney and not Bush? Aside from the pussy factor.
saint kansas on November 26, 2007 at 3:45 PM
I felt bad for the Muslim-American because he didn’t have any comments on his YouTube page, so I posted one. You also might consider brightening his day with some constructive feedback.
saint kansas on November 26, 2007 at 3:52 PM
Like I have said so many times before, the USA seems to be going to hell in a handbasket, and most of the public seems to be OK with it.
saiga on November 26, 2007 at 4:01 PM
No one other than Americans should be allowed to ask questions. Sorry, Canadian comic.
Now that I’ve said this, let the accusations of “xenophobia” begin!
Bigfoot on November 26, 2007 at 4:12 PM
Question: Will any of the candidates have the stones to refuse to answer any of the particularly childish and pointless questions, pointing out that CNN, by putting up such questions, makes a mockery of presidential debates? Lordy, I hope so.
Place your bets.
iurockhead on November 26, 2007 at 4:18 PM
Dear gawd…I don’t know whih one of the above vids is the nuttiest.
Probably Kucinich…although, I wonder about a “Peace” Tower doubling as a missle silo.
Truly a cavalcade of cacaphonious cr@pola.
JetBoy on November 26, 2007 at 4:59 PM
Hindsight is pretty clear, but lots of us knew this was bullspit way ahead of time. Fans of this garbage can now hang your heads in shame.
Jaibones on November 26, 2007 at 5:01 PM
I will vote for the first respondent who says something on the order of “I will personally move the Earth into an orbit in which the one degree increase in temperature is rectified and life on Earth returns to normal.”
A serious response to a serious subject.
Mallard T. Drake on November 26, 2007 at 5:16 PM
I agree, what I don’t understand is why the Republicans must lower themselves to this, why in hell can’t they just let the Dhimms bury themselves?
I was wondering the same thing myself, since when does anyone from another country get to ask our presidential candidates anything? ?
Xenophobic? Yea baby! More so every day!
4shoes on November 26, 2007 at 5:55 PM
I’d go with the first candidate with the guts to challange the entire global worming issue as well as the ‘illegal war’ allegations.
Perhaps answer with a, “What illegal war?”
But you know that the global worming and illegal war questions will be a shoe in, while Bryan’s question will be deep-sixed.
CrazyFool on November 26, 2007 at 6:20 PM
I’m not suprised at the questions from foriegners. They have as much, if not more money in our elections than our own citizens do,
wolfrab on November 26, 2007 at 6:47 PM
They don’t call it the Clinton News Network for nothing.
SoulGlo on November 26, 2007 at 7:34 PM
This stupidity should be used in every high school American History class to illustrate why the founders made this nation a “democratic republic” instead of a “pure democracy.”
CNN/YOU TUBE “DEBATES” == MAJOR WASTE OF TIME
(and NOT really “debates” at all…)
landlines on November 26, 2007 at 9:36 PM
They look to be unavailable now, every last one of them. Unless there’s something wrong with my computer.
Patterico on November 27, 2007 at 1:08 AM
The dumbing down of America seems unstoppable.
Halley on November 27, 2007 at 2:25 AM
Thank you Austin and Megan for at least appearing to be sane.
Is this crap being beamed out into the universe? I’m so embarrased.
It seems that everything we do creates ammo for our enemies.
imagine people seeing this tripe around the world and what they think of us.
Shameful….
