Shouldn't this disqualify this church from tax-exempt status?

Where are all of the outraged ACLU mouthpieces?

Anyone who is unfamiliar with the liberal pc-speak staple of "empowerment" hasn't been to a mainstream Protestant church in a while. This kind of tripe is a given in the Methodist, Episcopal, Presbyterian, UCC (especially) churches.

Right up Hillary's alley. Which probably (at least partially) explains why membership and attendance is down dramatically in every on of those denominations.

Rev. Jill Flyr, associate pastor, read from the book of John and gave a sermon about the importance of supporting those who can’t help themselves. Clinton nodded when the pastor read off some statistics, such as 35 percent of Iowa children are part of low income families, and added 45,000 children in Iowa are without health care.
“We should be outraged by these numbers,” Flyr said, encouraging the congregation to work toward changing public policy to fund “high quality preschool” for disadvantaged children. She said health care and education should not just be for children from “well-to-do” families.

Note the absence of any serious, relevant, "exegesis" of the actual text of Scripture from the Book of John.

Pastor Jill was more interested in bringing in left-wing political ideas that are foreign to the meaning and reading of the actual sermon material. Pastor Jill's concern was to "import left-wing ideas" into the sermon, instead of being a faithful expositor and teacher of the Word of God.

She did not preach a sermon from the text of Scripture. Rather, she pushed left-wing political ideas into the text in order to arrive fallaciously at her left-wing conclusions.

Y'know, Allah, I'm not surprised at your pop-cult dexterity with the allusion, especially with your "Oh, the humanity" line on the Ron Paul blimp. But I always figured you as more of a Ramones kinda guy, and they hated all that hippie peace-and-love crap. Especially Johnny.

So what's up with this Atheists For Social Justice thing?

The picture of Hillary for this thread just reminded me of an infamous scene from Animal House: that horse's expression when Kent Dorfman? (Flounder) shot that pistol in the air and gave it a heart attack in the dean's office.

Peace, love, understanding in church goes hand in hand
with the good book,unless:

Your Bill Clinton,an easter of all days in church, later we find he got serviced that particular day with you know who.

Your Bill Clinton, and you have sex addiction, and you
have three ministers following you around, never did
hear anymore about that.

Republican's go to church,Liberals go to church to use
the church for their own purposes, some Liberal's, not all.

Exit question: What’s so funny ’bout peace, love, understanding, and “empowerment” in church?

I think you already touched on it, AP. It really depends how one defines empowerment. If your are using it as a general expression, with as little connotation as possible, then there is really nothing anti-Biblical about it. After all, prior to Christ's ascension, He told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. There the word is used somewhat similar to the ideas of boldness, courage, knowledge to defend the faith and spread the Gospel, among others. If the word is used in a Liberation Philosophy sense, then there would be a problem, not a huge one mind you, but a little one none the less. Personally, what she said isn’t that big of a deal for me.

 "Personally"..."for me"...dang redundancy!

Hillary Clinton, with the traveling press corps in tow, attended church services this morning. She sang and nodded in agreement during the service, and even stuck a contribution on the offering plate before heading out for a full day of campaigning through the Hawkeye State.

The contribution: A spoon from the White House silver collection.

That's my favorite part of the Bible, where Jesus whines to the Disciples about the leprosy statistics under Herod.

Oh wait, he ministered to them himself. In other words, be your brother's keeper, don't pay the government to do it for you.
