Right up Hillary’s alley. Which probably (at least partially) explains why membership and attendance is down dramatically in every on of those denominations.

“We should be outraged by these numbers,” Flyr said, encouraging the congregation to work toward changing public policy to fund “high quality preschool” for disadvantaged children. She said health care and education should not just be for children from “well-to-do” families.

Note the absence of any serious, relevant, “exegesis” of the actual text of Scripture from the Book of John.

Pastor Jill was more interested in bringing in left-wing political ideas that are foreign to the meaning and reading of the actual sermon material. Pastor Jill’s concern was to “import left-wing ideas” into the sermon, instead of being a faithful expositor and teacher of the Word of God.

She did not preach a sermon from the text of Scripture. Rather, she pushed left-wing political ideas into the text in order to arrive fallaciously at her left-wing conclusions.

The absence of expository, Bible-based preaching and teaching in American churches is a very serious problem today.

When pastors stray away from the actual text of Scripture, they end up communicating error and confusion to the audience.

I think you already touched on it, AP. It really depends how one defines empowerment. If your are using it as a general expression, with as little connotation as possible, then there is really nothing anti-Biblical about it. After all, prior to Christ’s ascension, He told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem for the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. There the word is used somewhat similar to the ideas of boldness, courage, knowledge to defend the faith and spread the Gospel, among others. If the word is used in a Liberation Philosophy sense, then there would be a problem, not a huge one mind you, but a little one none the less. Personally, what she said isn’t that big of a deal for me.

Sen. Hillary Clinton, with the traveling press corps in tow, attended church services this morning. She sang and nodded in agreement during the service, and even stuck a contribution on the offering plate before heading out for a full day of campaigning through the Hawkeye State.

The contribution: A spoon from the White House silver collection.

Sort of like praying in a group as the ship sinks.

Oh wait, he ministered to them himself. In other words, be your brother’s keeper, don’t pay the government to do it for you.
