Any bets on how many yes or no answers you get?
conservnut on November 25, 2007 at 6:56 PM
I see a lot of hot air in the future of that question.
Sammy316 on November 25, 2007 at 6:57 PM
Good job Brian Im sure we will get a visit from Tancredo after that heh
Of course this video from CNN doesnt leave me much hope for good videos to be used
William Amos on November 25, 2007 at 6:59 PM
I hope that CNN doesn’t hold Hot Air’s popular-blog status against you in favour of odd-ball and everyman questions.
Damian G. on November 25, 2007 at 7:00 PM
Didn’t Mitt propose similar legislation previously? It’s a good question…although personally, I’d like to know about the wall/fence being built, and not just who supports it, but who’ll actually have a plan to erect the thing in full.
JetBoy on November 25, 2007 at 7:01 PM
Very well stated. Now I’ll have to watch the darn debate to see if Hot Air made the list of questions asked!!! Great job and good luck.
I noticed you were using Michelle’s notebook and the live TV “desk”!!! Great!
Zorro on November 25, 2007 at 7:09 PM
Excellent question. Since CNN won’t run it (because it is an excellent question), allow me to answer for the candidates:
Rudi – No, er, yes, er, no. Did I tell you how great New York City was under me?
Mitt – Whatever my position was 2 weeks ago, I reverse it.
Johnnie – Oh, hell no.
The Reverend – Don’t swear, Johnnie-boy. Just do what I would; veto with extreme prejudice.
Fred! – Ummm, yep.
Tanc – That will be Executive Order #1.
Dunc – That will be Executive Order #2, right after I shut off all trade with Red China.
Paul-Nut – But, but, but that’s un-constitutional!
steveegg on November 25, 2007 at 7:09 PM
Heck with a wall. I want the military down there. I also want them to shoot back when they need to. I wonder if they will actually air this question.
boomer on November 25, 2007 at 7:11 PM
Sounds good to me.
Troy Rasmussen on November 25, 2007 at 7:12 PM
What is the over/under if a candidate is asked that question?
Regardless
Put my down for $500 payable to the “iPhone for Allah” charity if this question makes it on during the debate.
F15Mech on November 25, 2007 at 7:13 PM
I need to pay more attention to my spelling/grammar before I hit submit. :/
F15Mech on November 25, 2007 at 7:16 PM
Niiicce, Bryan. Excellent question.
Connie on November 25, 2007 at 7:17 PM
Good luck getting that one asked! They should all say yes (except maybe McCain), but they wont follow through.
SouthernGent on November 25, 2007 at 7:18 PM
Heh I just realized Bryan has Hot Air on the screen in the computer behind him
William Amos on November 25, 2007 at 7:22 PM
Very Little wiggle room here BP-
Will Anderson b a Fanderson?
AJ @ Ingraham Show on November 25, 2007 at 7:22 PM
The thing I like about that question is that it allows me to weed out the candidates. Any answer that begins with “Well its a complicated issue” or “No” or “I have a great deal of respect for Tanc but” is automatically out.
“Yes” plain and simple is the only acceptable answer.
conservnut on November 25, 2007 at 7:24 PM
BTW, I bet Rudy and Mitt will not respond with a simple yes.
conservnut on November 25, 2007 at 7:25 PM
Great question? YES
Ex-tex on November 25, 2007 at 7:32 PM
Agreed, Of course Tanc will answer yes and is therefore the exception.
However IF the question is even asked, not one of the candidates will answer with a simple yes/no.
I think stevegg pretty much hit the nail on the head.
F15Mech on November 25, 2007 at 7:32 PM
Bigger than the “fence building” and “sactuary cities” will be the law enforcement at the workplaces. The conservatives have a great opportunity here.
I watched a rerun of a Black Conservatives in Florida forum on C-Span today. The Blacks and the middle class in the U.S. are hopping mad at their jobs being taken by illegals.
Unfortunaely both parties are faking the answers on this one, as they are both beholden to their constituencies, while wishing to retain votes. Good luck for both. The ones who get this, without lying, will win.
Entelechy on November 25, 2007 at 7:33 PM
Great question! Thompson has that in his immigration plan, so his answer? yes!
Gatordoug on November 25, 2007 at 7:35 PM
nice product placement…….;)
ctmom on November 25, 2007 at 7:35 PM
Oh, Bryan, silly, silly Bryan. You’re such a typical cowboy ugly-American. You see the world in black and white, so … unsophisticated. You need to learn about nuance.
Tony737 on November 25, 2007 at 7:35 PM
Yup, those dang simple minded cowboy rocket scientists with their foolish expectations of direct answers to direct questions. I just want to know how in the unholy name of Ted Turner did Bryan eve imagine those communist tools at CNN would ever even remotely consider allowing this question to be asked?
doriangrey on November 25, 2007 at 7:41 PM
Credit where it’s due: Michelle wrote the question. I’m just the pitch man.
Bryan on November 25, 2007 at 7:41 PM
LOL you forgot to say the world is gray and Brians B&W views to not have a place in the real world.
F15Mech on November 25, 2007 at 7:42 PM
The federal government fails to police the borders and can’t keep track of who is here, so they decide to stomp on states’ rights? Way to collect the money and then pass the buck.
Providing for the “common defense” is one of the jobs assigned to the federal government. They should be able to manage immigration and leave state and local policy up to the voters and their elected officials.
dedalus on November 25, 2007 at 7:42 PM
You know, now that I think about it, I know a bunch of rocket scientists and types like them. I find that they are incapable of answering yes or no to any question.
Example: Will the sun rise in the morning?
Answer: Well that depends, there is acually a .0000000035 percent chance that the sun will go supernova before sunrise tomorrow and therefore there would be no tomorrow.
conservnut on November 25, 2007 at 7:47 PM
Ohhhh, blaming the boss now eh………
doriangrey on November 25, 2007 at 7:47 PM
The question is entirely too reasonable and deserving of not only an answer but action as well. Unfortunatly, I expect neither from either party of our govt anymore.
Yakko77 on November 25, 2007 at 7:50 PM
you know they wont use your question this is cnn remember .
YES
YES
oh Hell YES !
Mojack420 on November 25, 2007 at 7:55 PM
Actually, if you can get a snowman or something to pitch the question…considering the last YouTube debate, and what got on…
JetBoy on November 25, 2007 at 7:57 PM
That’d be funny if Mitt started singin’…
“Lemme sleep on it, baby baby, lemme sleep on it.
Lemme sleep on it, I’ll give you answer in the mooornin’…”
Tony737 on November 25, 2007 at 8:00 PM
I’m looking at some of the questions from Youtube right now. I would say about 90 percent of the people submitting questions aren’t even considering voting for a Republican.
terryannonline on November 25, 2007 at 8:04 PM
There went the odds of seeing that question drop from 100-1 to 1,000,000-1 (it is, after all, CNN).
steveegg on November 25, 2007 at 8:07 PM
Great question. Tis the pity it will never be asked.
rockdalian on November 25, 2007 at 8:18 PM
Any bets on how many candidates actually chose to answer this question?
Rode Werk on November 25, 2007 at 8:18 PM
Nice try.
see-dubya on November 25, 2007 at 8:19 PM
You know some of them will ditch this and say they don’t know what the ‘legislation’ is in its entirety…they’ll …have to read it to be sure.
.
Nice wording tho, “SUPPORT AND SIGN INTO LAW…”
.
I sure hope it makes it.
shooter on November 25, 2007 at 8:25 PM
.
I’ve got the over/under at 3 1/2
TOTAL either yes/ or no/ ONLY, answers.
.
Bets in please.
.
this could be fun.
shooter on November 25, 2007 at 8:32 PM
C-Dub, I enjoyed your Mike Spann poem. Did you write it?
Agree with above Posters, no way will anybody just stand there and say “Yes” or “No” to that question. It’ll be “Wellllllll, it depends on the situation … blah blah blah”
Tony737 on November 25, 2007 at 8:34 PM
We need the “Place bets now!” graphic. :)
I’ll take 2.
steveegg on November 25, 2007 at 8:36 PM
Thanks, Tony. Yeah, I wrote it. Wrote it a couple of years ago and didn’t know what to do with it–I’m not musical enough to record it or anything–so I just figured I’d put it up on the blog on the anniversary of Spann’s death.
If anyone wants to pass it along to, say, Charlie Daniels, I’d be obliged.
see-dubya on November 25, 2007 at 8:44 PM
I got a gift certificate for Bryan to Ruth’s Chris if it shows in the debate! Seriously!
I have that much hope that the questions will all be lefty attacks all during that segment.
lsutiger on November 25, 2007 at 8:45 PM
I would have asked if they planned to sign the Kyoto Treaty and finish tanking our economy.
I swear if I could find an Al Gore mask I’d try and beat the deadline.
eclark1849 on November 25, 2007 at 8:48 PM
This from the website:
Am I reading that right? I can submit in Tagalog? Or Farsi? Bahasa Indonesia? Which country is this again?
TexasDan on November 25, 2007 at 9:06 PM
Nothing personal Bryan, but didja consider disguising Allah as a snowman to present the question?
infidel4life on November 25, 2007 at 9:26 PM
I’d be too tempted to just use strong language.
TexasDan on November 25, 2007 at 9:26 PM
CNN will probably use the excuse that the Apple logo is too prominent in this video when they don’t use this excellent question.
/giving them way too much credit that they would actually provide an excuse…
RW_theoriginal on November 25, 2007 at 9:30 PM
I will remember this….2 is better than 1 :)
lsutiger on November 25, 2007 at 9:33 PM
Good question, it “cuts to the case”, but I would like to hear, “What do you think about American employers who knowingly, or knowingly enough, employee people who are in the United States of America illegally, thus drawing them here, and what, if anything, would you do
toabout those employers if you are elected President?”MB4 on November 25, 2007 at 9:44 PM
Great question, well played. HotAir is prominent enough at this point to get that question aired … isn’t it? Seems like you guys are getting high marks in high profile places.
And of course, heh.
Jaibones on November 25, 2007 at 9:44 PM
Should have ask for a show of hands.
Asking for a Yes or No answer will postulate into some long winded position on immigration reform.
Yes or No in so many words.
Kini on November 25, 2007 at 9:46 PM
Oh and blame it on the Boss….., sheesh!
Kini on November 25, 2007 at 9:46 PM
Since this is not a Dem-morons debate I’d say there is a good chance this question will be posed to the GOP candidates. My reasoning? Because there won’t be any plants with hand-pick questions in the audience as the GOP aren’t afraid of answering REAL questions and not softball BS questions!!
Liberty or Death on November 25, 2007 at 9:48 PM
Michelle for Director Of Homeland Security.
Czy wolno przedlozyc’ pytanie po polsku?
(In “przedlozyc’”, slash through the “l” and dot over the second “z”. Translation: Is it allowed to submit the question in Polish?)
Bigfoot on November 25, 2007 at 9:49 PM
Submit it as a question. There’s still time.
Bryan on November 25, 2007 at 9:49 PM
Only CNN approved democrat plants will be asking the questions. Michael Moore produced the videos for them.
roninacreage on November 25, 2007 at 9:50 PM
I am also serious when I say I will buy Allah a new iPhone (or send hime $500 so he can do it himself) if this question makes the debate.
F15Mech on November 25, 2007 at 9:52 PM
I thought you needed a camera?
MB4 on November 25, 2007 at 9:57 PM
So Allah gets an iPhone.
Bryan gets to re-live his time in Texas
What does Michelle get?
I am thinking a nice trip to a local DC salon (for a spa day) but open to suggestions.
F15Mech on November 25, 2007 at 9:59 PM
With Debbie Schlussel as her XO/Enforcer.
MB4 on November 25, 2007 at 10:04 PM
I think they’ll use it, because it puts the Republicans on the spot with a yes-or-no answer.
Ali-Bubba on November 25, 2007 at 10:05 PM
“What does Michelle get?” – F15Mech
A date with Tony737! WooHoooooooo!
Tony737 on November 25, 2007 at 10:07 PM
Is there such a thing as a Yes or No answer in politics?
Kini on November 25, 2007 at 10:09 PM
Los Estados Unidos de Mexico Mayor.
MB4 on November 25, 2007 at 10:12 PM
Tony, we don’t want to cause major brain damage to Michelle.
F15Mech on November 25, 2007 at 10:12 PM
They probably have a full slate of yes/no questions to ask, like will you start a quagmire in Iran, yes or no? Will you give insurance to this poor crippled child in the video we’re about to show you, yes or no? Will you house this poor polar bear pictured here hanging by it’s claws on a melting ice cube, yes or no? and so on….
RW_theoriginal on November 25, 2007 at 10:14 PM
Only if you count answers of 20 words or less as yes/no answers.
steveegg on November 25, 2007 at 10:24 PM
“…brain damage …” – Eagle Fixer
Yeah, I’ve been known to make a woman’s head explode :-) What? I mean drive her nuts with my political views, that’s all! Get your mind outta the gutter! haha
Tony737 on November 25, 2007 at 10:36 PM
Touche Tony737 I think it is best that I shut-up before I get banned. :)
F15Mech on November 25, 2007 at 11:00 PM
I bet you’ll get a bunch of “Hillary” responses (if the question even get to the debate.)
AlexB on November 25, 2007 at 11:34 PM
HAHA!!
Awesome! Bravo Hotair.
Chances of any question from any blog making it into CNN’s lineup of questions? Slim and none and slim just left town.
I will watch this debate they are finally getting into snark territory. Fred has the best policy positions but the snark draws viwers to his site.
Theworldisnotenough on November 25, 2007 at 11:48 PM
Romeny and Giuliani would balk, the rest of the field would answer a resounding no.
Theworldisnotenough on November 25, 2007 at 11:49 PM
Oh Huckabee would crap his pants too.
Theworldisnotenough on November 25, 2007 at 11:49 PM
probably won’t get an straight answer but if you do it will be like Bono says “It’s the promise in the year of election.”
Drtuddle on November 25, 2007 at 11:51 PM
I think it is a great question, I hope it makes it. I hope Cnn does a better job at weeding out dumb videos. Like most people, I thought the last one was very unprofessional, this would be a good opportunity for the GOP to show what professionals are supposed to look like. Everytime I watch the dems, they make me cringe.
gator70 on November 26, 2007 at 12:02 AM
Gettin’ a little big for our britches here are we, Bryan? Questions for these debates are reserved for prestigious folks like animated snowmen, if you recall.
RightWinged on November 26, 2007 at 12:07 AM
Bryan, super excellent question, but the best entertainment,
for political purpose’s of course, would be the moment before
the answer, that question needs to be planted on Hillary,
because that stunt was played in the debate of Bush Sr.
That’s when Bill Clinton asked Bush Sr.”How much a gallon
of Milk costs”,and I think Bush Sr.said I don’t get the milk
and the rest is history.
canopfor on November 26, 2007 at 12:35 AM
from Youtube: “macs are for liberals” lol
tlynch001 on November 26, 2007 at 12:50 AM
You could’ve said something about Mr. Malkin likely not being too thrilled with that prospect.
Of course, then it would have been incumbent of you to suggest a replacement.
steveegg on November 26, 2007 at 12:53 AM
My question would be:
Have you read the Koran?
profitsbeard on November 26, 2007 at 12:55 AM
‘END OF AMERICA’
MB4 on November 26, 2007 at 12:58 AM
Why is Bryan trying to burn my soul with his eyes?
Nonfactor on November 26, 2007 at 2:03 AM
What?
I am sorry, I don’t understand what you are trying to say. Please explain.
F15Mech on November 26, 2007 at 2:12 AM
If the question gets asked, I will spring for dinner at Giani’s in Everett, WA for Michelle, Bryan, and AP.
Rode Werk on November 26, 2007 at 2:40 AM
Ummm, that is of course, if you can make it to Everett, WA.
Rode Werk on November 26, 2007 at 2:41 AM
Even if it makes it on the debate, there is NO WAY you’ll get a yes or a no from them :)
Kevin M on November 26, 2007 at 4:28 AM
sorry Brian, you made too much sense, didn’t make yourself look like an @$$, and the question is one no politician will want to answer. Now, if you had dressed up as a drunk hillbilly or a snowman… or maybe asked Rudy if he likes diamonds or pearls?… you might have had a shot.
BadBrad on November 26, 2007 at 6:25 AM
Tony wanted a date with the very-married boss.
steveegg on November 26, 2007 at 8:07 AM
I still think this you tube debate is a terrible idea, but given the high probability of the GOP getting annihilated in this election, I don’t think it really matters any more at this point.
It’s a very good question Bryan; but I wouldn’t mind seeing someone ask about the Mexican President’s hostile remarks about immigrant legislation in our country, but given I’ve only seen Mark Levin talk about that one, I doubt the msm will let it come up.
Sadly though, we’ll probably end up with questions like:
‘Mr. Candidate, do you prefer diamonds or pearls for undocumented workers coming to this country?’
Cheers..I think I’ll go get some drain cleaner to go with my sour cream dip. I have a feeling this debate is going to be a crown jewel in the GOP crown of shame this year.
austinnelly on November 26, 2007 at 8:40 AM
Because he can.
Once again I’m submitting my application to be Bryan’s stunt double when Hot Air: The Motion Picture goes into production. You couldn’t tell us apart running from a mushroom cloud over Iran.
saint kansas on November 26, 2007 at 9:18 AM
Heh. I know…
Jaibones on November 26, 2007 at 9:22 AM
Steve, don’t worry, Tony’s married too. I didn’t mean it like a date date, I meant it like a have dinner with your favorite celebrity date. Speakin’ of bein’ married, I learned from my wife how to completely change the meaning of a word simply by saying it twice. For example: I love Michelle, but I don’t love love Michelle … well, I’m sure I would … I mean, who wouldn’t, right? Uh, I better quit while I’m ahead, don’t want Mrs.737 to get jealous!
Tony737 on November 26, 2007 at 9:57 AM
Excellent question! Much better than a lot of the questions there, already. I looked at about 1,000 of them and my IQ went down about 10 points… God help us.
jdawg on November 26, 2007 at 10:04 AM
Okay, coffee in, despair out.
I have question for Candidate Paul: Is there any truth to the rumor that he will have brown shirts standing by at polling places to ‘educate’ voters who betray the master race, er, I mean vote for someone else?
austinnelly on November 26, 2007 at 10:12 AM
Who specifically is choosing the questions for cnn? When the dust is settled and all the painfully obnoxious “Do you still beat your wife?” questions have been asked and all the candidates have been belittled, will there be someone specific who the public can put the pressure on to explain why all the ridiculous questions? Are there any real objective and honest journalists out there who will pursue that information? I bet not. Just the candidates being questioned about their ridiculous answers to unanswerable questions. Just another opportunity to show the American people what the msm is really all about squandered.
peacenprosperity on November 26, 2007 at 11:23 AM
Potential heartache for Bryan: Ron Paul could be the only candidate who says “yes.” :-) Maybe Thompson. Mitt ‘n Rudy wouldn’t be believable answering “yes.”
