That’s what I was thinking. I dont’ recall ever seeing a tray of clean glasses, or a bunch of dirty ones on the way out.

On the other hand, its thought one of the reasons so many kids have allergies is because their immune systems don’t get enough “stimulation” during their early years because we raise them in near sterile environments. The only way to keep your immune system healthy is to keep working it out!

Hey, these are good standards if you come living in a place with a dirt floor!

Plus, since most kitchen workers in the US are illegal aliens, kinda makes you think twice about restaurant food, doesn’t it?

I’ve lived in Mexico, and there are damn good reasons – which I guarantee you don’t want to know about – that visitors get the dreaded Montezuma’s revenge. Contrary to popular Cancun lore, it’s not just from drinking the water. It’s from who handles your food.

And don’t even get me started on restaurant workers never washing their hands after using the toilet.

The disinfectant warning is another reason employees must be able to read and understand English.

Also, do not forget to pack the ‘Blacklight’ (even though TSA may take it away because they do not know what it is) to check the sheets and other upholstery-where you lay or sit may have been used for other activities other than sleeping and sitting.

Finally, what do you do when what you thought was a new pattern in the carpet is actually a chalk outline?

So they wipe down a glass in a room that you rent and will be staying in for another night… that doesn’t mean that they do that after you check out and another guest is coming in.

I’m not the world’s best housekeeper — in fact, may be the worst — but it’s MY DIRT!!!

I travel much and am not squeamish, but fairly careful. Also, I spend much time working in hospitals.

First, humans are way more resistent to all kinds of ‘dirt’, than we react to a video like this.

Second, with all this, the U.S.A. is still a cleanliness heaven, compared to all of the rest of the world, with the exception of Japan and Australia. I know, you wish to counter, but I’ve really compared and contrasted for many years. Just a few items: toilet seat covers, toilet care, type of toilets, water availability, type of water, toilet paper availability, access to toilets, type of toilets, rest areas and all services which come with them, etc., etc.

Still, a few things I do, or don’t do, as a precaution:

- no use of glasses in the rooms, of any kind
- no drinking of water supplied by the hotel, even if it’s bottled. It could be rebottled. Buy/bring your own, from a sealed source
- wear socks and spread towels on the bathroom floor. The video hasn’t analyzed the bathroom floors – heh, put them under the microscope and see

Also, in restaurants and hotels, be polite. You’d be surprised what can happen to you out of laziness and especially out of envy and spite.

Just be careful all around and you’ll be fine. No need to live, and die, like Howard Hughes, really. Also, we don’t have much control over any of this, no matter what the actions are. There are simply never going to be enough inspectors to take care of this, with other priorities like food inspections, for example.
