The Ballad of Mike Spann
posted at 9:28 pm on November 25, 2007 by Bryan
CIA agent Mike Spann died six years ago today in Afghanistan. He was interrogating captured Taliban prisoners in Mazir-e-Sharif, prisoners that included the American Taliban John Walker Lindh, when they launched an uprising. Spann was killed. He was 32 years old, and left behind a wife and three children.
See Dubya has written a ballad in tribute to Spann, the first American killed in action in Afghanistan. The ballad helps us remember a man we should never forget.

From the Guardian article. Written six weeks after 9/11. These bastards have always been the same. Never miss a chance to cast aspersions.
Great ballad, SeeDub. We remember you, Mike Spann.

Hey. Johnny. Assuming you spend the full 20 years in the super max, you’ve got only 5427 days left.
And counting…

If he were a lefty lib, he’d have died trying to negotiate his way out of it. But Mike was a REAL man, he went down fighting and took some jihadis with him. God bless you Agent Spann, and Semper Fi.

We should always be thankful for those who sacrifice for us in uniform, and outside one. The latter are easily overlooked.
Thank you See-Dubya for memorializing this hero.
Six years ago seems just like yesterday…and how easy the country/world forgets…

It is amazing that we have men and women that do what Mike Spann did for this country. They risk their lives in the shadows doing what has to be done for the rest of us to stay free. I lived in Mike’s hometown briefly back in the seventies and knew of his family. They are just ordinary Americans with an American hero as a son, a husband, and a father. Thank God we have such families.

Too bad there will never be a movie made about this man…
Republicans don’t spend their money on making movies. It’s easier to complain about “all the liberals in Hollyweird” than getting some skin in the game.
If you believe Bruce Willis’ movie about “Deuce Four” in Iraq is going to happen, you probably have also seen Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. A guy that took a share of the profits for The Sixth Sense (a movie that grossed $672 million at the worldwide box office) and $20 million-plus for starring roles in every movie he’s been in since the year 2000 (a streak totaling around $200 million of personal income)–has the money and industry cache to produce and distribute an action movie but refuses to spend his money on that movie.
Sad.

I hate to break it to you but that bottom feeding pos traitor isn’t in Colorado super max or Marion or even Leavenworth , he is sitting in a low security fed prison so he can be closer to his parents . He is in the administration segregation unit because last time he went on the main yard he was jumped in like 5 minutes so he had to roll up into pc.
great tribute See Dubya

See? Not all of the people in prison are bad guys. I’m disappointed it took them so long, though.

Please tell me this isn’t true.

Sorry, PB. He’s in Victorville. Esquire did a puff piece last summer about his mystical incarceration there and how much better he is than you or me.
They literally say that. “He is a better person than you or I”. It’s linked through this entry of mine but bring a barf bag if you try to read it.
