Quote of the day

posted at 10:00 pm on November 24, 2007 by Allahpundit

Indeed, when a woman he bumps into while walking precincts here happens to mention he was once half an hour late to a house party, Romney stops dead in the middle of the street and turns disbelievingly to an aide: “I was late? I’m never late. . . . When was I a half-hour late?” It is finally determined that he was not late, the world makes sense again, and he trots happily down the block, where a “Mitt Romney for President” yard sign the size of a billboard greets him.

Blowback

Forget the office of the President then. Let’s get him over to the airlines.

I understand but only because I’m never late either.

Buzzy on November 24, 2007 at 10:06 PM

Sometimes Romney reminds me of the SNL spoofs on Gore as President where he has all the computer gear in the oval office.

“I was late? I’m never late. . . . When was I a half-hour late?”

You’ve got to be kidding!

bnelson44 on November 24, 2007 at 10:10 PM

Didn’t Rizzo tell Kinecki in Grease that she was never late also?

HarryBalzac on November 24, 2007 at 10:11 PM

W is never late. Kerry always was. Late for his “ok, I really did lose” speech. That REALLY pi$$ed me off.

Punctuality is admirable. To care about being late is a GOOD thing.

We dined at nine.
We dined at eight!
I was on time.
No, you were late!
Ah yes, I remember it well.

Compare the HillBill corruption is us run for office first with Rudy Giuliani and then with Mitt Romney who shows the greater contrast?
Between Hillary and Mitt who stands as right versus wrong?

Plus as a Chief Executive Officer Mitt is very hard to beat.

Ummm, the only time late is good,is when the B-2 Bomber
pilot says,I hope your out of the target area, were
running a tad behind,we have a snafu problem with
one of the 2,000 pounders.(like thats going to happen)haha.

canopfor on November 24, 2007 at 10:55 PM

Are ya’ just tryin’ to stir shiite allah? Or do you really hate Mitt?

I live in Boston, and from a management point of view, Romney will be the best president. That’s just a fact…he’s the best qualified, the best prepared and the smartest. However, I support Rudy, cus i don’t think he can win.

I don’t think many people in this country can get over the fact that he is a mormon. Otherwise, he is the best candidate.

Chudi on November 25, 2007 at 12:11 AM

Being on time is the easiest thing to do in any job. Being late leaves an impression of apethy.

However, compulsive lying is worse than punctuality. Lying is 100% personal control and morals. Punctuality can involve “acts of God or nature”.

Lesser of evils: I’d rather vote for a chronic tardee, than a compulsive liar (democrat).

Isn’t it harder for Rudy to make it to Iraq because he ISN’T a politician at this time? (Campaigning does not count as being in office)

And you cannot campaign in a war zone or on a military base/propertty. Tht is against the law, and UCMJ.

Politicians usually have easier access to places like Iraq.

Sorry, post went on wrong thread. :-)

Mitt is NOT a robot.

Just make sure all four AA batteries are securely installed inside the braincase, and make sure you wind up his motor each morning and apply the necessary motor oil to the upper body crankshaft.

And remember, no metal detectors… EVAH.

Always Right on November 25, 2007 at 8:02 AM

Consistently being late is a character flaw. I was raised to believe that if someone is always late they are saying that “my time is more important than yours”. The more people you keep waiting the more arrogant you are.

One of the things I like about GWB is that he is never late. And demands the same respect from his staff.

Sometimes RUNNIN’ for POTUS and BEIN’ POTUS require different skillsets.

The LA Times is right. We should all be on mañana time. It shows the proper deference to alien cultures, and the proper hatred of your own. There is no way I can vote for Mitt after this.

JiangxiDad on November 25, 2007 at 8:48 AM

That’s good. Being late is disrespectful.

“If you’re 15 minutes earlier you are right on time” my motto.

Chudi on November 25, 2007 at 12:11 AM

Consider the notion of voting for the best candidate, both in the primary and the general election. It’s so…idealistic.

That said, I agree with what you said exactly.

Jaibones on November 25, 2007 at 8:58 AM

“I’m never late” = Not. Bill. Clinton.

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on November 25, 2007 at 9:38 AM

Never Late?
How about his stand on abortion…a little late. How about his stand on taxes…a little late. How about gun-control…a little late. How about punishing Bechtel (one of his main contributors) for screwing up the big dig…wasn’t late, just never happened. Stem cell…he was late, but now it doesn’t matter, he got a free ride. Immigration?…a little late. He may arrive on time, but his ideas are always a little late. Not the perfect combination for a President. President Mitt is on time for the meeting, but he doesn’t know what to say…yet.

right2bright on November 25, 2007 at 10:41 AM

a Romney/Huckabee ticket?

hmmmm…

right2bright on November 25, 2007 at 10:41 AM

Amen. …and, a dollar short.

Mitt’s Johnny-Come-Lately approach to being a conservative is off-putting. Republicans are middle-class and middle-class wants authenticity. Just be who you are and let US decide if WE want you as our president. At least Rudy is authentic.

Go Fred!

I’m not at all a Romney fan, but consider the source: the L.A. Slimes.

infidel4life on November 25, 2007 at 11:49 AM

There he goes again looking and behaving all presidential…..who does he think he is?

paulsur on November 25, 2007 at 12:18 PM

Is it possible that this was self-deprecating sarcasm, and the MSM reporter wrote it up as a straight quote? If a Dem showed some ironic awareness of his too-good-to-be-true image, the MSM would consider it “charming.”
