All in the name of diversity (or is it laziness on the part of the teachers and students?) The proposal was widely criticized and ultimately abandoned. But I have no doubt that it still goes on, even though they could not get support to make it “policy”.

The dollar speaks English. End of story. Anyone that wants to say other wise is an idiot or has a political agenda. There is really not a lot else to say about this subject…

I posted this once befor but will do it again because it so directly applies.

My Mother, born 1914, spoke only norwegian and swedish when she started school in far northen Minnesota. In school she was only allowed to speak and write english. By the 6th grade she won a northern Minnesota spelling bee.

The point is: she did not allow herself to be handicapped by a simple langauge barrier, she beat it quickly.

Interesting. My Great-Grandmother’s family (my paternal mother’s mother) came to America in the 1880s from Sweden.

After they arrived, my Great-Grandmother’s parents said to the children that since they have left Sweden to make their new home in America that they would begin speaking and writing in English only. And that was it. My grandmother remembers her grandparents speaking to each other in Swedish but not to her mother or the other grandchildren.

All of this controversy is about attitude. The attitudes of those who emigrated before and the attitudes of some who come to America now.

If you’re choosing to live in a country not of your birth, and that country’s government has allowed you the opportunity to do so, learn their language, customs, culture, and history –- and respect it.

English is actually a superior language to Spanish, and most others. Ask any non-P.C. sociolinguist… language is thought, and vice versa, and English is an upgrade for your brain, an advanced operating system.

P.S. In English, they have more than 150 words to describe how lovely MKH is…

If this keeps getting traction,schools are going to change
curiculem,books,videos,signs,probably an interpreter on site.(WHILE ALL COMMUNICATION TRAFFIC FROM ECHLON SITS
WAITING FOR ARABIC TRANSLATERS)

Pushing Spanish to be the official language along side with
English,means from the word go,small business,all business’s
sports arena’s,the whole 9 yards,–what’s written in English
will all so have to be in Spanish or face fines and lawsiuts.

Of course, I don’t recommend taking the actions that he took after flipping the table.

Americans are notoriously horrible spellers and grammarians in English. Why confuse them with two languages?
