No, it wasn’t the guy is pissed off about getting a ticket. He’s pissed at the cop for doing his job. The cop understands that and really doesn’t care how worked up the guy gets. He continues to do his job and to do it properly. And he gets it done…without laughing in the guy’s face, which must have been exceedingly difficult.

You got proof? I work with officers just like this everyday (I am not one, however). None of them would be clever enough to spout off the way this driver does, even for training purposes. He’s the real deal, apparently, as indicated by the earlier comment that

there is update footage for this video… they interview the guy at his house one year later… he feels like an ass rightfully so.

I don’t know where to start…

Ex: When I was pulled over here in a town of Grose Tete many years ago, it seemed mighty suspicious that the address to send the fine to was not the court house address. About a year later, the traffic judge and several officers were charged with embezzlement and breaking a whole lot of laws…the address was a registered address of the judge.

When I was given a ticket in the town of Washington here in La, I called and asked the clerk of court what I could do to make sure it didn’t go on my record, she flat out said “send a few bucks more and write a letter asking it not to be on your record. 75 in a 70, $20 extra and a letter stating I was not familiar with the area….not on my record.
New Orleans is not the only corrupt city here in Louisiana!

That’s what I thought when I saw this…he looks like he has muscles in his turds…and ice in his veins.

This police officer is a good guy and what all police should be. The old guy in the red truck was nuts, but not dangerous. He surely heaped more than enough abuse on that police officer that he could have been arrested, but what good would have have done?

Did you note that the red truck guy was a Democrat, he was talking about Bill Clinton and how he was going to fix everything for the working man. Heh.

BUT!!! these guys are just doing their job, they are police and they don’t deserve to be disrespected. This guy should have ended up in jail or at least another few tickets for being an a$$hole.

Generally, nobody deserves to be disrespected (though some people really ask for it.) But there is no right to not be disrespected and it is no crime to disrespect someone. The job of the police is to enforce the law, not to enforce respect for the police.

The cop in this video clearly understands that, and he doesn’t take the nitwit’s ranting personally. They are police. They are public servants. They are not gods and they are not our overlords. Every power they have derives from the people they are paid to protect and serve. They have a duty to treat those people with respect, even when they break the law. Of course, if you get violent with a cop, all bets are off and you deserve the lumps you take. But other than that, professionalism and courtesy should be their norm. This cop is an excellent example of how to do it right.

You might want to punch an a$$hole like that driver right in his stupid face, but you don’t do it because of your commitment to the law you’re supposed to be upholding.

I don’t understand why police take the reaction to them personally when they are generally the catalyst of the negative situation in the first place (especially pulling someone over for speeding).

first of I think you are right that many feel it is highway robbery. I have seen towns (Barker/Somerset, NY being the most egregious) that use it exclusively to produce revenue by dropping the speed limit drastically along a stretch of rural highway then sitting there and nailing everybody that misses the one sign.

BUT!!! these guys are just doing their job, they are police and they don’t deserve to be disrespected. This guy should have ended up in jail or at least another few tickets for being an a$$hole. I HATED the police every time I was pulled over… but I was always respectful and I always realized I was the one speeding. I just felt that maybe they had better things to do than stop me for going 10 over when I wasn’t causing any trouble and there were real criminals out there… but that is not the cops fault and it certinly doesn’t give me the right to act like an @$$.

What a cesspool this place had devolved into.
