I still disagree. He is living in an authoritarian state that is quickly going totalitarian. That wasn’t Cleveland. Standing his ground and not giving in was pretty courageous. Doing anything more forceful probably would have resulted in his being arrested. I don’t speak spanish but my guess is, if this guy is that outspoken and opponent of chavez, that he was seeing, ‘Look, this is what these people are all about. Today it’s me, tomorrow it’s you.” But that’s my speculation. Anyone out there speak spanish and know what he was saying?

Azocar is an outspoken critic of leftist President Hugo Chavez, and Varela is one of Chavez’s close allies in the National Assembly.
