Video: When Chavistas attack
posted at 10:36 am on November 21, 2007 by Bryan
And we think our lawmakers are tools. Well, they are, but this slap happy Chavista lends a little perspective to our domestic quarrels. Jack Murtha routinely verbally assaults and maligns and slanders the President and the Haditha Marines, but thus far he hasn’t resorted to physically assaulting any TV hosts. Murtha couldn’t get that elevator going fast enough when we confronted him.
Then again, we still have Cynthia McKinney…
Michelle has the rundown on this clip.
A Venezuelan lawmaker repeatedly slapped a journalist in the face during a television program Tuesday, accusing him of slander after he wrote about the death of her infant son years ago.
Congresswoman Iris Varela stormed onto the set of Gustavo Azocar’s morning program on Tachira Regional Television, shouting: “I’m demanding a right of reply from this man who has offended me all the time on this program.”
The on-air confrontation, in which Varela slapped Azocar several times and then hit him with the microphone, grabbed national attention in Venezuela and is likely to generate a wider debate in the country about free speech issues and the news media.
Azocar is an outspoken critic of leftist President Hugo Chavez, and Varela is one of Chavez’s close allies in the National Assembly.

Situacion Irregular, indeed…

Observations:
1. The generation that grew up on Jerry Springer has now entered politics.
2. The first time she hit him he should have dropped her with a left hook, he looked like a wuss letting her slap him around for 4 minutes.
3. Nice Uncle Remus charicature painted on the wall.

You’ve got to wonder how much they paid to get that old set from PeeWee’s Playhouse.

This reminds me of the Mad TV sketch with the two annoying Mexis that can’t shut up and look like ugly trash.

Body – Language – Segment.
I’m sensing some sexual tension between those two.
The politics of passion!

I’m actually strangely relieved to see that other nations have Cynthia McKinneys.

Liberals are violent loons. Which is why they are now known as moonbats.

Azocar will soon be “missing”.

Hmmm wasn’t she the lady arrested in Mpls the other day on soliciting charges? Sure looks like her. Oops sorry she’s a law manipulator… my bad!

Depends what the journalist actually said about the death of her infant son and her private life. Where is that info.? Maybe she’s a commie, and right.
JiangxiDad on November 21, 2007 at 12:07 PM
According to MM’s site, all he said was that the death of her son was a life-changing event for her. I guess that in loony-lefty-land that is enough reason for assault.

“Gustavo, you got some ‘splaining to do!”
She broke your glasses, we get it. Now get over it and find a new line of work. I don’t think this one suits you too well.
RMCS_USN on November 21, 2007 at 12:33 PM
She broke his glasses but she has to live with that face and lard butt for the rest of her life.
RobCon on November 21, 2007 at 12:38 PM
Speaking of lard butts, little Hugo will be awarding her the Medal of Freedom any day now.

I have to admit – it might be fun to see the same thing happen to Keith Olbermann, David Gregory, and Chris Matthews
(to name a few)

Found this about the book, and the comments. It seems the author was attempting to explain how Iris Varela blamed the former Venezuelan gov’t for the death of her infant in the hospital some years ago, and that that triggered her hatred for it, and her support of Chavez. (Lousy translation)
JiangxiDad on November 21, 2007 at 1:20 PM
Those police were not there to protect him. In the first segment they blocked the camera. In the second she got ahold of the mike and was talking to the camera so they didn’t bloc it anymore. There was nothing more he could do about her.
A few weeks ago the venezuelan army was shooting college students in the street and there was nothing about it in the msm. Things are going to get very ugly down there eventually. An awful lot of venezuelan oil will stop flowing and $100 a barrel will sound good.
peacenprosperity on November 21, 2007 at 2:06 PM
OK, even if he didn’t have the nads to drop her and take the rap from the cops, he should have just walked away rather than just twitter around her showing his busted glasses and letting her slap him around for 4 minutes.
Again the Oprah-fication of the country has spread to the world. Bogart would have clocked the silly fat bitch.

I still disagree. He is living in an authoritarian state that is quickly going totalitarian. That wasn’t Cleveland. Standing his ground and not giving in was pretty courageous. Doing anything more forceful probably would have resulted in his being arrested. I don’t speak spanish but my guess is, if this guy is that outspoken and opponent of chavez, that he was seeing, ‘Look, this is what these people are all about. Today it’s me, tomorrow it’s you.” But that’s my speculation. Anyone out there speak spanish and know what he was saying?
peacenprosperity on November 21, 2007 at 2:27 PM
peacenprosperity,
I agree with you. It’s a good thing there weren’t any sharp or pointed objects around for her to use. I think this fits in the Moral Authority category.
What a venomous woman. Forget her hair and body shape, the upclose shot of her face reveals a terrifying expression of hate. I fear for the people of Venezuela. Logic and reason have been replaced with madness.

The incredible double-standard of women slapping men in the face.
Speaking as a woman, this is why I think a man has every right to respond in kind.

That guy is extemely polite. He deserves an award for not slapping her around.
The “Irregular situation on the TV” caption throughout was funny.
Him saying “it’s my program, it’s my program” was funny too.
Cynthia McKinney coming to California - Good for Georgians. We already have Maxine Waters and all sorts of assorted nuts. Bienvenido to their club.
