The “left turn” jokes are waaay stale, and ignorant. If you don’t “get” NASCAR, you don’t get NASCAR. But not even counting the road course races, it’s a helluva lot more than only turning left.

Which was actually a joke less about NASCAR, and more about your cats and the fact that Levy haters claim you appear hungover. I could be wrong, but I think you’ve been labeled a drunk (even though that’s not the impression I get, I think it’s a widespread one).

Anyway, to clarify – I don’t get it, but I know it’s huge so there must be something to it, but not something I think I’ll ever be in to. Anyway, the important thing was that you are a fan, and settled that. I was beginning to wonder if I had been missing a joke all along. Bottom line, Ashlan Gorse is unbelievably hot.

NASCAR is a great sport. It’s got speed, power, endurance, skill, strategy and passionate fans all rolled into one package.

Go sit in a grandstand sometime (my preferred track is Talldega) and take in a race. When those cars come screaming into the tri-oval on the final lap it’s one of the greatest moments in sports.

Plus, it’s got topless chicks in the infield. And you can drink beer while laughing at those dumb-ass Jeff Gordan fanboys.

I was not commenting on Rudy’s obvious pandering — which by the way is officially permitted during campaign season. He can also shake hands of people he doesn’t like and even kiss a few babies. I was explaining why the NASCAR fans love Rudy by explaining why they can’t like Fred, the obvious choice for “redneck NASCAR fans”. They cannot like Fred, because Fred chased down moonshiners for a living and NASCAR has roots in moonshine runners.

They love Rudy, because they have to hate Fred, the anti-moonshiner.

But doesn’t anybody else see the irony? The same individuals who called Fred Thompson’s pickup – and I’m quoting here – “The most evil deception in the history of the human race!!!” – are now (albeit incoherently) trying to somehow use Fred Thompson to explain how Rudy Giuliani’s brand spanking new red-necking is More honest than any image ever projected by any politician since George Washington.

To top it all off, as I recall, these are the same same people who constantly accusing EVERYONE ELSE of “fixating” on Fred Thompson.
