With each passing day, the old media becomes less and less relevant. Won’t you help by adopting an old media maven and helping them make the transition to the new media? Won’t you?

First. I don’t get it.

Second! Is this a spoof? Or a joke?
Troy Rasmussen on November 18, 2007 at 6:10 PM
It’s a joke, and evidently more subtle than I thought. ;)

Nalts is a online video genius.
TheSitRep on November 18, 2007 at 6:21 PM
I’m adopting Jane Pauley.
And can we cut with the “first”, “second” crap?

Let ‘em die with dignity.
RedWinged Blackbird on November 18, 2007 at 6:39 PM
Wow. Now that is pure altruism.
silverfox on November 18, 2007 at 6:46 PM
Too late. All that’s left is the “die” part. I’m happy to help with that.
(Metaphorically speaking.)
Splashman on November 18, 2007 at 6:48 PM
I’ll be happy to adopt Julie Banderas.
infidel4life on November 18, 2007 at 7:22 PM
No.
Jaibones on November 18, 2007 at 7:45 PM
Digitally challenged. I’ll bet some of them don’t even have iPhones.
RedWinged Blackbird on November 18, 2007 at 8:26 PM
Give Katie a break, after all Dan did leave some pretty big documents to fill.
MB4 on November 18, 2007 at 8:34 PM
Well that’s two minutes and thirty-six seconds I’ll never get back…
D2Boston on November 18, 2007 at 9:23 PM
Haven’t you seen her butt!?
Katie does carbs big time!
peacenprosperity on November 18, 2007 at 9:59 PM
Think real hard, Jailbones. You can do it!
wryteacher on November 18, 2007 at 11:24 PM
Darn, and I thought you wanted to adopt me :(
Entelechy on November 19, 2007 at 12:24 AM
Sweetie, there’s plenty of room in my tent.
;-)

People have to WANT to change… I doubt most of the old media folks are into that. Even O’Reilly’s casual dismissals of the internet’s importance bugs me a little. I guess I could make an exception for some of those who come even close to the loveliness and logic of MM, MKH, Bethany etc… Maybe.

I see.
Kinda like putting endangered animal species in ZOOs for their preservation.
So, first we have to go into the media “wild” and capture the old MSM. Nets, traps, tranquilizer darts, whatever. Then after tagging and chipping, we ship them to the “reservation.” Since the reservation will have newsroom and studio mockups, when they wake up, they’ll feel that they’re right back on the job.
In the meantime, the zoo visitors can watch them primp in “makeup” and work before the non-working cameras, with an AI pretending to be the director in the control room.
I like it.

It was too long.
Warner Todd Huston on November 19, 2007 at 4:21 AM
Thanks, that was great. I enjoyed the Dan Rather impersonation, too. Even tho Katie’s politics are backwards, she’s still hot.
Sorry; I’m just a sucker for a pretty girl.
tgillian on November 19, 2007 at 7:20 AM
Dibs on Laurie Dhue!
Dudley Smith on November 19, 2007 at 10:36 AM
The Katie look/sound-alike is uncannily good, just like a “younger” Katie! Wow!
Um, can I adopt Diana Sawyer? Always did like her. Or, how about Julie Chen? Marisole? Oh, wait. She’s a weather girl. No matter! It’s the compassion, right? Right?
Just trying to be helpful…!
Roger Brown on November 19, 2007 at 11:57 AM
Those feminine wiles have served her well. How potent will it be as she enters her 60s. Hey Katie, a cougar is not just an animal in the jungle.
