The “bird” is almost certainly a puppet. The metal rods are controls used to simulate motion. The man with the upper rod is making the head simulate pecking. The man with the rods is holding the body in position by supporting the wings, but is not making the rods flap the the wings. Maybe the cameral angle is such that the wings cannot be seen and so there is no need to have them flap.

I am assuming the eagle is NOT live, but it appears it IS a genuine bald eagle, so one wonders exactly how the show went about acquiring a stuffed bald eagle? Legally, that is. I hope nobody shot an eagle to allow Rosie to make a film! Talk about a crime against nature.

I find myself rooting for the eagle…lol…;-)

It’s kinda like that eagle is speaking on behalf of the rest of the country…symbolically speaking…:-)

Now “the left” can tag me as an “angry right-winger” for something that didn’t even really happen. Isn’t it funny how that works? The left can rejoice when something really bad happens to this country in the real world. Yet, I’m sure anybody who makes fun of the fantasy of Rosie getting the crap kicked out of her by the symbol of our country will probably be tagged as “angry”.

But I digress…

Agree completely. I’ve seen the previews for that episode.
I’m sure it’s some martyr syndrome a’la Dixie Chicks’”Just Shut Up and Sing” that she’s been silenced. The truth, of course, is that she silenced herself but fails to take responsibility.

She is obviously engaged in an outdoor activity of sorts (sky diving, Mtn biking etc) and this eagle has attacked her. BTW, the eagle is a stage prop.
