Quote of the day

“The film ends with photos of real-life victims of the Iraq war, though it’s impossible to tell who they are, how they were killed, or who killed them. Is De Palma saying it doesn’t matter? The final photo, he’s told interviewers, is fake. Is he saying that doesn’t matter, either?

Redacted isn’t a critique of war or of America’s behavior in this war. It isn’t sharp enough for that; it’s too crude, callow, and one-dimensional. It’s nothing deeper than war porn.”

Wouldn’t the cruellest thing to do be to just ignore the film?

Still, I like reading a good smackdown as much as the next guy.

Don’t know if I want to understand this line:

It’s a nasty piece of work—and not in a good way

TexasDan on November 16, 2007 at 10:53 PM

How hard is it to ignore the insignificant ?

I go to the movies to be entertained or (rarely) to be educated. From all accounts, this film does neither.

They stole your tag line!
(er, it was yours right?)

Call the lawyers.
Or one of the FoxNews babes.

From what I’ve read about this movie, it is an atrocity in its own right.

hillbillyjim on November 16, 2007 at 11:41 PM

Howzabout we show the 6 million unrealized Americans that were killed during the same period of time? Not that we’d want to, but I’m just sayin’.

pistolero on November 16, 2007 at 11:58 PM

Sedition is what this film is.

Will DePalma be held accountable if Americans are killed because of this trash?

Kini on November 17, 2007 at 12:26 AM

DePalma has gone from left-winger to seditionist. If a single terrorist is recruited with this film, if a single American is killed due to this film, he should be tried for this crime.

When are scumbag Hollywood types ever held accountable for their actions?

Bad Candy on November 17, 2007 at 12:46 AM

May this film, and his career, continue to be exposed for all the agitprop it is.

RIP, BDeP’s career.

Cuban’s money is still a drop in the bucket for all of the damage that the Soros cash has done to our country.

bbz123 on November 17, 2007 at 8:31 AM

Food for thought Mr. (term used loosely)DePalma. Pay attention now because it has to do with the great state for which you reside.

In 2006 there were a total of 2,485 homicides reported in California. To date there has been 3867 soldier, airmen, marines or sailors killed during Iraqi Freedom.

Where’s the outrage? Yes percentage wise soldier death’s are higher than civilian casualties in California. But one is a war zone…the other not.

I felt a lot safer in the Doura district of Baghdad than I did in L.A.

At least the government in the latter, unlike the former, allowed me to defend myself.

Ignore the film? ABSOLUTELY!!!

countywolf on November 17, 2007 at 11:09 AM

De Palma only knows how to present horror, and has presented it as propaganda to be used against the very people who keep him free.

“I pity the fool”

I have a different opinion. Shine the light on this horrible film, make them pay for this disgusting piece of trash. DePalma won’t care, but Cuban will.
Fonda has never had a peaceful day in her life, O.J. has never had a peaceful day in his life (since), because people do not ignore these kinds of people. You bring them out in the light and humiliate them, make them defend the indefensible, and let them walk the streets…not in anonymity, but shame.
