Video: More planted questions at Hillary campaign events?

A shot in the dark from the other end of the spectrum. The post is more compelling than the video, though: on paper the questions are plenty stilted enough (especially the “as a member of the _____ community” formulation) to qualify as suspicious, but watch the clips and you’ll see that they’re delivered fluidly and with plenty of animation. That doesn’t mean they’re not planted but it does make it less likely, especially when you compare them with the more robotic delivery in the third clip showing the question that actually was planted. Besides, if this sort of thing is SOP for the Glacier, why haven’t any other student plants come forward to claim their 15 minutes?

Follow the link and note the comment at the bottom about Hillary’s panel at Yearly Kos. Meanwhile, Marc Ambinder introduces a third possibility. The questioners are plants — but the campaign’s innocent.

Besides, if this sort of thing is SOP for the Glacier, why haven’t any other college students come forward to claim their 15 minutes?

Perhaps they’re being held for future use by another campaign or they’re dyed-in-the-wool Clinton supporters who have no problem with the practice.

Every lawyer knows you don’t ask a question unless you know the answer before it is asked. Hillary is manipulating the crowd as an attorney manipulates a jury. Hillary has no core so this is the only way she can relate.

Could it be possible that the only questions she ever takes are the planted questions?

abinitioadinfinitum on November 15, 2007 at 11:32 AM

Marc’s theory is certainly possible, but if the groups are Clinton-friendly, it is also possible they let her know in advance what questions they are going to ask.

As a side note, as of this morning, hillaryproject.com has disappeared off the top of the Google blog “hillary” page and againsthillary.com’s database has disappeared. Those two websites are the biggest anti-Hillary websites and they’ve been “poofed away.”

Maybe she planted questions for Wolf tonight. ;-)

Mallard T. Drake on November 15, 2007 at 11:34 AM

Anyone who thinks that any questions either of the Clintons field in public are “spontaneous” simply hasn’t been paying attention for the past 15 years!!

Hillary- “I’ll repeat your question,”- as if she didn’t know it before the girl asked it.

She and Wolf probably worked on them together.

Did y’all see this?

It’s from Obama’s spokesman, but it’s a gem.

I can’t wait for the debate tonight, actually.

I smell blood, not menstrual blood, but Hillary! blood.

Trainwreck ahead!

Wolfie is trying to stand tough on this issue.

Very possible.

Move over, World’s Smartest Woman…your new name is:

“World’s Most Scripted Woman.”

Possibly they’re afraid?

I’m reading David Halberstam’s “The Unfinished Odyssey of Robert Kennedy”. It’s all about Kennedy’s run for President in ‘68. Kennedy’s advisers were academics. They were sitting professors. Kennedy courted their support and they Kennedy’s support with the very premise being the students would get behind Kennedy all the way.

Too bad Halberstam died. I’d like to ask him about planted question in the ‘68 Kennedy campaign.

PS: Daily Kos is now brought to you in part by Big Oil.

Girl who asked the question says it wasn’t planted.

Mark Jaquith on November 15, 2007 at 3:07 PM

This does explain why many people are blaming McCain for what one of his questioners asked (how to beat the b*tch)…

If you’re only used to watching your politicians answer fully scripted and prepared questions, then the politician would be responsible for the text and content of the question…

Heck, I don’t like McCain and I’ll defend him on that one.

Agreed… someone named Jo Jensen left a comment on the Marc Ambinder page. One wonders where that takes/leaves the discussion… (Or does it just get in the way of the good time had by all over the incident? :-) )
