Even Mike Gravel is funnier than any Republican candidate.

“You don’t know Mike Gravel???”

Dude, most of the nation doesn’t know Mike Gravel.

Funny, though.

amerpundit on November 15, 2007 at 4:15 PM

I think he just got my vote.

Savage on November 15, 2007 at 4:19 PM

I liked it, man. You’re right, Bryan. Couldn’t we get an occasional one of these on our side instead of another vid of Mitt in his friggin’ garden? Or Fred waking up from a nap, or looking up from his paper in his local diner?

RW Wacko on November 15, 2007 at 4:20 PM

Was that a Gravel Campaign ad or just him being funny in someone’s short film? Hilarious either way.

Dudley Smith on November 15, 2007 at 4:23 PM

…I gotta admit, that just made me like him more than any of the other Dems running.

Allow me to back away in shame…

MadisonConservative on November 15, 2007 at 4:29 PM

The energy sword is pretty pwntastic.

Mark Jaquith on November 15, 2007 at 4:35 PM

Gaylo sux. The real issue is how good he is at WoW.

AlexB on November 15, 2007 at 4:37 PM

Republican strategists hate this kind of video. Its edgy and seemingly unscripted humor plays to the 16 to 34 year-old urban/suburban male–you know, the demographic Republicans once pWned before ceding that demographic to Viacom’s cable networks.

Yep, you Republican candidates should listen to your handlers and keep your nose in the air and harumphing haughily at the next generation. Apparently you don’t even realize you’ll lose when the Dems scare all the old farts into believing you’ve spent their Social Security “lockbox” money…

Good job, Republicans.

ScottMcC on November 15, 2007 at 4:57 PM

It’s definitely higher on the chucklemeter than any of the Repub. ads, but it’s apples and oranges. The apples actually have a chance of attracting votes.

Allah, I think you’re obsessing on the humor issue too much. As others have noted, we (HotAir readers) aren’t the ones who need convincing. While everyone appreciates humor, when it comes time to mark the ballot, the candidate’s qualifications for The Laugh Factory won’t matter much.

Splashman on November 15, 2007 at 5:03 PM

Hey, let’s not start criticizing Bryan and AP for pointing out the facts. Another fun fact is that Mary Katherine Ham thinks the Clitnton and Gravel promo videos are better than anything the Republican have currently done… Is she obsessing on the humor issue too much?

I just got Xbox Live and my gamertag is Sc0ttMcC if anyone wants to play this weekend. I only have four games right now (none of which are Halo 3).

ScottMcC on November 15, 2007 at 5:21 PM

There is a perception that Republicans are unfunny, un-hip, old white guys who are out of touch. Clinton was the cool guy with the sax who could separate the chicks and their panties. McCain is the only one who even registered on the cool-meter at one time (crowd-surfing etc), and his day has passed.

If I saw a vid of Mitt taking some bong hits and singing “Freebird” or something, I might actually think he is human and not from the planet Tetron.

Oh, yeah, I’m sure the XBox/Janitor 19 year old vote will be huge in this election…we’re really missing the boat.

Jaibones on November 15, 2007 at 5:39 PM

Oh, yeah, I’m sure the XBox/Janitor 19 year old vote will be huge in this election…we’re really missing the boat.

Jaibones on November 15, 2007 at 5:39 PM

Perfect example of the fundamental difference between Dems and Republicans. Dems want everyone to vote (even the illegal voters) while Republicans only want Republicans to vote.

Lighten up and meet somewhere in the middle, will ya?

ScottMcC on November 15, 2007 at 5:49 PM

As an election judge supervisor when Jesse Ventura was elected governor, I was witness to the damage that 18 to 25 year olds can do. Lost in all this is the fact that by legislative grace only may we select electors who then elect the President. I wouldn’t mind an Amendment raising the voting age to 30, the way things have gone. Yes, I’m just dreaming… don’t have a cow.

MNDavenotPC on November 15, 2007 at 6:20 PM

that is funny and i dont even know what an energy sword is.

lorien1973 on November 15, 2007 at 6:38 PM

Perfect example … Republicans only want Republicans to vote.

ScottMcC on November 15, 2007 at 5:49 PM

Really? Show me where I said or implied that. My point was that this segment of the electorate votes in miniscule percentages.

Jaibones on November 15, 2007 at 6:43 PM

ScottMcC,

I also went on a search to disprove your broad assertion that Republicans only want Republicans to vote, by showing you all the opinions of leftists saying the same thing.

Unfortunately, I only found Republicans under a quick search of “too stupid to vote”. Lots of ‘em. All saying that “some people are too stupid to vote. ”

Gotta give you that one.

Jaibones on November 15, 2007 at 6:54 PM

Show me where I said or implied that.
Jaibones on November 15, 2007 at 6:43 PM

When you implied the “XBox[sic]/Janitor 19 year old vote” isn’t a vote for a Republican:

Oh, yeah, I’m sure the XBox/Janitor 19 year old vote will be huge in this election…we’re really missing the boat.

Jaibones on November 15, 2007 at 5:39 PM

The stereotypical Republican has no desire to even try for that segment’s vote even though males aged 18-34 is consistently rated by large marketing firms as a most-desired demographic.

At the risk of sounding like the csdeven guy, ignoring anyone that’s not a fortysomething white guy or aging “Security Mom” is directly from the lazy Fred Thompson elite Washington lobbyist wing of the Republican party’s playbook.

The instant response to anything from a Democrat posted here is “IT’S [name of Democrat candidate here] AND THEREFORE IT’S UNFUNNY AND SMELLY AND STUPID AND CRASS AND JUVENILE AND DID I ALREADY SAY STUPID, OKAY THEN IT’S DOUBLE-SECRET-PROBATIONARY STUPID!!!”, which is just as unbalanced and nutty as… well, Mike Gravel.

Yeah, I know it’s from a Dem, but this is a clever ad for Gravel as was the past couple of Clinton ads posted here by AP and Bryan. Mary Katherine Ham thinks so too, therefore any knee-jerk “IT SUCKS” is an automatic slight against the intelligence of sweet, loveable, wonderful, smart, and cool Miss MKH.

ScottMcC on November 15, 2007 at 7:27 PM

If you can’t get on SNL, this is the next best thing.

Hmmm, hand eye coordination or how fancy your tights are?
