I doubt AP is a Fred hater. He keeps using a retouched photo of Fred that makes him look like a spry and vibrant candidate instead of the tired, lazy, unmotivated boob that he is. This ad is just another example of Fred’s laziness. He’s so uninspired with this race he keeps using the same tired old talking points that other candidates have already used time and again. Fred hasn’t come up with something unique since the last lie he told.

More important, of course, is the public’s mood and its disconnect with the current campaign. Confidence in both parties is near record lows. The economy may be tanking. Illegal immigration is the hot topic of the moment. Yet the major candidates are all running on platforms and platitudes geared to a nation satisfied with the two major parties. No one, seemingly, is listening to the average-but-angry voter.

I like Fred but, that was a bit boring. Oh well they can’t all be great. Somebody stated earlier that Rudy was slick. Ya, I have that feeling too and can’t quite put a finger on it yet. Didn’t he have an anti-gun stance as mayor? Maybe thats it.

I liked it … he boils it down to two simple notions …
secure the borders and enforce the laws, (you know, the ones already passed to make us feel good but never enforced).

Whether Fred is the guy or not is a matter of choice, his message though is pretty bang on to me …

The only purpose of this ad is to get the current Fred supporters to pony up more bucks. It doesn’t encourage folks to switch to Fred. As a matter of fact the entire ad is underwhelming, boring, and trite.

repeat the message, then repeat it again, then again, and then once more.
This ad does exactly that, just reinforces what he stands for. He has time to develop something better and more hard hitting. You can’t say it enough, enforce the borders.
I doubt he could run an ad that AP approves of.

Another note: The symbolism and setting are truly remarkable. Small drug store coffee shop with attentive soccer mom and young lady in background. Exactly what you see in Iowa and other primary locals.

Fred’s ad appeals to his base. Hint: it’s not the city dwellers. It’s short (viewers in general have low attention spans), it’s to the point (he’s against amnesty for illegals).

What more do you expect an ad to do? Hint: you shouldn’t expect an ad to do any more than remind people of what you’re doing (running for president) and what your position is on an issue.

You shouldn’t expect any more unless you have dancing girls (or guys) or cavemen.

You’re pretty much the only one who’s debated me. And for some reason you seem to want to pretend Giuliani, McCain, and Huckabee are anti-illegal alien. All three were 100% pro amnesty up until it became clear it would not pass.

Heh. They’re certainly recent converts to the illegal immigration debate. No, I don’t think any of them, at heart, are anti-illegal immigration – at least in the way the rest of the country is.

Not mostly racists, no. But there are those who, in arguing this topic, have made racist or offensive statements, yes. I think those comments are generally counterproductive.

I think some of you are right, Fred is missing the boat by rolling out the same old talking points as the rest of the pack. If he would directly confront and point out the differances between him and the other candidates he could gain a lot of ground. The fact that he won’t causes me to turn away from Fred because of the lack of guts.
