Some things he did were great while others were not so much. He completely undermined the middle class, which is fine for many here – and I include my dear parents in this many – remember NYC is a Country Club atmosphere, coops like to reject people merely based on the color of their socks. He was instrumental in driving the middle class from the city in droves, he amended many of the rent stabilization laws regarding housing in favor of the landlords and allowed them to destablize apts piece-mil and in many cases illegally. The DHCR to this day have their hands full with the fallout from what he and Joe Bruno did.

Most of the people here are correct in assuming he is an elitist, he knows nothing about the regular blue collar family living in Peau-dunk America, and I say that affectionately with a french spelling.

You people think he is going to go to bat for the little guy, well he’s not, so keep drinking from from his kool-aid fountain, you have no idea, you are punch drunk on his sauce obviously.

Do you want a candidate who is supported by the teachers union?
How about supporting a candidate that is heavily supported by the company that screwed up the Big Dig? Gee, I wonder why Bechtel think so highly of Mitt?
Rudy would have kicked Bechtel’s ass, and not pay them an extra $294,000,000 for being a couple of billion over cost. But at least Mitt is loyal to his supporters.

His 911 schpiel and the same story over and over about Rudy – Crime Fighter Extraordinaire is getting as tired as the magic question – do you want to win in Iraq?

Good God, if Republicans expect to win they need to dust off their brains and come up with something better than calling Shillary a bitch and toasting Rudy’s superhero days in a cape and tights keeping Metropolis safe.

Not disagreeing that the pic is provocative, but I want to ask about its context. If it is from a 9-11 era memorial where he is truly overwrought, as I suspect it could possibly be, I don’t think it is fair game to use it.

The picture is from some manufactured drama-rama that he caused up here, there were many. He attacked the cab drivers, the hot dog cart vendor, people having pets in city run buildings, he hates animals, especiallly dogs and cats.

You name it, he picked it. He’s loves a good fight and then some. Most New Yorkers would not vote for him, except my parent’s crowd, which is very elite.

He is the candidate of the elites for sure. If you are upper middle class and elite you should vote for him. He is not the candidate of the people at all. And if you believe he is or might be, you need to rethink your opinion/position.

This is the elitist view. In the face of evidence to the contrary – it’s all lies because . . . well, just because ‘we’ (the elites) are in the know.

I’m still waiting for the definition of “elites” when used in this context. Anyone? MB4’s implied definitions (reality show? Really?) just didn’t do it for me.

I volunteered this week for a Rudy phone bank (God I hate those things) asking questions of registered Republicans in the county where I live in Delaware. One of the questions was something like:

Who is your first choice for the Republican nomination for President?

Although not scientific, 85-90% of people who would actually speak to me said Rudy was their first choice. I would say this was about 60 people. Only one person said Mitt, two said McCain and no one said Fred.

Just a reminder that internet traffic isn’t everything.

Come on TA, that is unadulterated BS. It’s impossible to have a fruitful discussion when people just make things up out of whole cloth.

I appreciate that there is a fine line here – parody is fair comment – but using photographic techniques to simulate someone acting in a disprespectful or grotesquely hateful manner is not parody – in is a smear. I think a naieve viewer could easily assume either of these photos I have cited was “true”.

This is also related to recent non-photographic incidents where a small amount of “parody” was inserted into a larger amount of hateful statements contained in pamphlets about a certain group’s objectives and beliefs. The presence of a few obviously silly and bombastic statements was used as cover to excuse the many more truly hateful ones that were seriously intended. This is simply dishonest. Parody and sarcasm are valid forms of commentary, but they should be openly used, not as false flags for pretending your are not slandering someone, when you are.

We’ve all seen and remember his leadership in action, in an extreme situation. What could possibly be gleaned from his website that the MSM or reading blogs won’t tell us?

That ‘leadership’ is still in question and Hillary will exploit his decisions the entire campaign. The internet is about distributing information. A presidential campaign is about ‘getting your message out’. Rudy’s message is ‘look at the polls, I’m the front-runner’. I guess you are right, you don’t need a website for just that point.

He’s got enough money and people working for him to have a decent website with plenty of traffic. It would only take leadership to make it happen.

The reason I don’t have a problem casting aspersions at Rudy and his campaign is that I know I won’t have to worry about him being POTUS. Because as fervently as you believe it is inevitable, I believe just as fervently it will never happen. He may be the nomination (which is still highly in doubt), but he’ll never beat the Clinton machine – she’ll run to his right on guns, WOT, illegals immigration, even socialized medicine, and they’ll be tied on abortion.

He’s not a ‘come from behind’ kind of guy. His only argument for why he would be a good president is that he’s the front-runner who is not Hillary. He won’t energize the R base, and he’ll invite a 3rd party candidate. . . but he won’t win the POTUS.

Could it have something to do with the fact that people know where Rudy stands on the issues (or at least think they do) so there’s less of a need to go to his website?
