Video: Voter asks McCain, “How do we beat the bitch?”

Further to this morning’s post about the sexist landmines that await Hillary’s rivals, here’s J-Mac getting caught flatfooted on the trail by a little, ahem, “straight talk” from the heartland. TPM offers an obligatory, listless Enlightened Finger-Wag of Shame here, but you can tell their heart isn’t in it. For three reasons:
1. It’s Maverick.
2. McCain duly notes that he respects Hillary, as well he might. After all, they’re drinking buddies.
3. As you’re about to see, the Absolute Moral Authority quotient of this particular voter makes it a bit harder to demagogue.
TPM didn’t even mention this. You’re slipping, boys. Click the image to watch.
Update: Oh, how I pray this incident somehow trickles up to Hot Topics on “The View” tomorrow. Oh, the fun we’ll have.

In a more perfect world, this is kind of question campaigns would plant. Word for freakin’ word.

Was that Newt’s mom?
Slublog on November 13, 2007 at 4:30 PM
With alliteration like that he should be glad she didn’t choose “clobber”.
bbz123 on November 13, 2007 at 4:32 PM
That’s an ugly word.
terryannonline on November 13, 2007 at 4:36 PM
HAHA, I think it was.
infidel4life on November 13, 2007 at 4:39 PM
I read this on tpm earlier today, I was amazed that they were finger wagging at someone calling a politician a name. Liberals say worse thing about President Bush in their sleep.

“Beat?”
hindmost on November 13, 2007 at 4:39 PM
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
amerpundit on November 13, 2007 at 4:40 PM
I sort of wonder if that isnt one of Hillary’s plants trying to misdirect all the attacks on Hillary
Hillary “See this is the boy’s club picking on little ol me”
And here I was hoping that those falling american flags had knocked some sense into her

Nuance.

If Krankles wins the nomination, will her song be “The Bitch is Back”?
Wade on November 13, 2007 at 4:48 PM
This reminds me of the Family Guy episode where Peter ran against his wife Lois for school board president.
His campaign slogan: “Together we can beat my wife.”
Our candidates had better tread lightly. One sexist slip up and Hillary will run all the way to the house with it.

Now that’s funny!

How did Sen. McCain know that the lady wasn’t speaking of Sen. Edwards?
morganfrost on November 13, 2007 at 4:52 PM
Good one.
Wade on November 13, 2007 at 4:58 PM
Next time’s a banning, Ochlan. I don’t want Michelle having to answer for your jokes.
Allahpundit on November 13, 2007 at 4:59 PM
Isnt it amazing how everyone just assumed the lady wasn’t referring to John Silky Edwards
Always Right on November 13, 2007 at 5:01 PM
You’re wearing that excuse pretty darned thin…but whatever…
Ochlan on November 13, 2007 at 5:02 PM
That was a Hillary plant.
redrock on November 13, 2007 at 5:16 PM
Come on, he got off pretty easy with saying “gooks” all the time last time he ran…he’s still a media darling. Heck, I loved him when I was a lib.
RW Wacko on November 13, 2007 at 5:16 PM
She looked like the Fruitcake Lady from Leno…
Aggie85 on November 13, 2007 at 5:22 PM
Ochlan..stop baiting the host. ;)
tickleddragon on November 13, 2007 at 5:40 PM
That’s a good point

What McCain should have said – “That is about the most retarded question I have ever heard! Are you a plant from the DNC? Did your mother drop you on your head? [Says to himself "But then I repeat myself", and suppresses hysterical giggle.] What Republicans, and I in particular, will be waging is a campaign of ideas [Says to himself, "If any of us can find any or recognize any if someone hits us upside the head with one.", and suppresses expression of despair.], not a campaign of childish name calling.
MB4 on November 13, 2007 at 6:08 PM
One in the same. Jay Leno and McCain conspired to plant her.
RMCS_USN on November 13, 2007 at 6:22 PM
A real man would have called this questioner on his stupidity. Such language and antics cheapen the entire event. McCain gets the questioner stink on him by not standing up for decency.
I’m sure there are multitudes who will suggest Hillary deserves it. Even better is the idea that she should be OK with it because women refer to each other as “bitch” all the time. Both arguments are meant for school teachers and playgrounds.
It’s sad when a knight is so blinded by his desire to be King that he forgets about chivalry.
Republicans: Taking every opportunity to win the War abroad just so we can lose it at home. Beautiful.

I’m in agreement with you. I won’t be voting for Hillary Clinton but she is still a Senator in the United States Congress and to me that still means something. She doesn’t deserve to be called such names.

What is Newt’s mom doing at a McCain event?
