We may need a palate cleanser from the palate cleanser, so I’ll offer up the self-conscious sequel to Dan Rather’s Extended Debate With His Trenchcoat. The “payback” line is a nice, catty touch.

That my friends, was an intentional production for publicity.
She is as stage as a question for Hillary.
TheSitRep on November 13, 2007 at 8:29 PM
That’s definitely Nashville.. but where is she standing? Is she somewhere at the Adelphia Coliseum (or what is apparently now called “LP Field”)? Anyone know where she is? She’s definitely across the river somewhere, but nothing is high up like that over there, except the stadium.
RightWinged on November 13, 2007 at 8:32 PM
Oh, and as for my take on this performance… The mocking Rather bit would have been funny… if I didn’t despise Couric. Also, I wanted to kill myself more and more as she kept calling someone “bro” and “dude”.

GIVE ME TED BAXTER!!!

I got a fist full of singles Katie! ;D
Kini on November 13, 2007 at 8:36 PM
True.
Weight of Glory on November 13, 2007 at 8:37 PM
In my opinion, Katie definitely does not have the same authoritative presence in front of the camera as Michelle.
Zorro on November 13, 2007 at 8:42 PM
What an idiot.
mimi1220 on November 13, 2007 at 8:42 PM
I thought she seemed kinda cool.

baldilocks on November 13, 2007 at 8:45 PM
15 minutes of indecision trying to figure out how to button her coat.
Hope her house never catches on fire.
fogw on November 13, 2007 at 8:45 PM
this is pretty standard television production fare. you’d be surprised how long conversations like this can go. collar up, tie up, no tie, sleeves rolled up, to wear a broach or not to wear a broach…so much time is wasted on little crap like this every time something is made for television
ernesto on November 13, 2007 at 8:47 PM
If she spent that much time actually researching the truth of her stories she might not be perceived as such a doltish tart.
bbz123 on November 13, 2007 at 8:50 PM
Too bad CBS anchors don’t spend half as much time on the facts of the stories they
reportREAD.Oh. Right. Facts aren’t important. They’re just the readers.

“I’m Ron Burgundy?”
ScottMcC on November 13, 2007 at 9:00 PM
Sweet, I’m getting ready to move back to Nashville.
That girl is hip, bro! Dude…
ballz2wallz on November 13, 2007 at 9:00 PM
Don’t tape me Bro!
infidel4life on November 13, 2007 at 9:01 PM
I’m sure that that is common place in the tv world at that level, but still…
Weight of Glory on November 13, 2007 at 9:04 PM
Oh don’t worry, American ain’t watchin’…
wryteacher on November 13, 2007 at 9:09 PM
I’m not a fan of hers, but I actually thought that was a little cute. She was making fun of herself and of Dan Rather.
Esthier on November 13, 2007 at 9:11 PM
That, my friends, is vapidity defined.
However long that clip was, that’s still more minutes than I’ve spent watching the CBS Evening News since she took the helm…
Captain Scarlet on November 13, 2007 at 9:12 PM
Two thoughts:
1) I feel sorry for her because she appears to be freezing and standing around waiting to start for so long.
But then…
2) She won’t stop obsessing over that damned button and her collar… I just want to reach through the screen and wrap it around her head!
D2Boston on November 13, 2007 at 9:12 PM
Dang. . .I thought I was watching John Edwards.
Texyank on November 13, 2007 at 9:14 PM
“Wha’ up, bro?”
Smack! That’s wha’ up, ho…
Jaibones on November 13, 2007 at 9:16 PM
I don’t care for Katie’s politics but I’m giving the girl a break. Anchors are either born leaders or plastic voice boxes. She holds neither of those qualities. She’s just doodling in public between on-air segments. Probably a show’s worth edited together. On camera is not an easy job. I’ve seen better do far worse.
Griz on November 13, 2007 at 9:17 PM
What an vapid overpaid -blank-
The only thing worse are the butt kissers surrounding her.
RobCon on November 13, 2007 at 9:19 PM
Katie Couric snorts!
peacenprosperity on November 13, 2007 at 9:20 PM
wow… this political landscape will be so “last week” a year from now…
all this interference from the left .. noise no subtance.
amend2 on November 13, 2007 at 9:24 PM
She’s not that bad.
Esthier on November 13, 2007 at 9:24 PM
…whether to take one bite or two of the worlds hottest chili pepper…
91Veteran on November 13, 2007 at 9:25 PM
I love my uggs too. Katie should have worn them. They are like a fur coat for the feet.
lorien1973 on November 13, 2007 at 9:30 PM
That had to be, like, a 12.5 Couric crap, am I right?
Editor on November 13, 2007 at 9:50 PM
Where to begin,I think this looks goodish, achor womanish,
geez don’t you think he deserves a little payback, sounds
like her vocabulary is out of Rosie’s Thesaurus manual.
Paybacks a b8tch(sorry for the awful pun)I hope Dan Rather isn’t packing heat, you can hide a Winchester Defender under
that trench coat he wears.
When she’s says “this tart’s ready to go”if you only listen to the sound and no picture,I swear she’s making an XXX
show.
Good Lord, let’s not forget when Hillary went to New York,
Hillary stayed with the “Tart”,oh those must of been fun times.Hehe.
canopfor on November 13, 2007 at 9:52 PM
Dear Perky,
The Silky Pony has nicer hair.
And I’d rather watch Les Nessman than you. At least he’s less neurotic.

Wuddup, sistah?
Qzsusy on November 13, 2007 at 10:23 PM
any wonder why thier ratings are sinking .
Mojack420 on November 13, 2007 at 10:32 PM
These people are mentally insane.
dave_lantos on November 13, 2007 at 10:34 PM
Isn’t she a bit old to be saying “dude” & “bro”. At least she didn’t comb her hair as much as silky does.
Alden Pyle on November 13, 2007 at 10:37 PM
And it was good!
That was more Katie than I watched since… ever.
rockbend on November 13, 2007 at 10:43 PM
I think she was messing with the camera guys when she said “Dude” and “Bro”.
DaveS on November 13, 2007 at 11:03 PM
I could never imagine Michelle calling herself a “tart”. But then, I’m sure the loony left has called her far worse.
What are “uggs”? The only uggs I can think of are Popeye’s laugh, as in “ugg-ugg-ugg-ugg-ugg”.
Bigfoot on November 13, 2007 at 11:09 PM
That woman is so annoying ….
deepdiver on November 13, 2007 at 11:30 PM
The human side of Katie. It’s the most I’ve seen of her in forever too. In this clip she’s hangin’ out and talking shop with her co-workers. She was actually quite likable here. Too bad her politics are what they are. I’m sure if she started talking about her views on real issues, I’d have to click away… Then again if I heard myself talking about real issues 20 years ago, I’d have to turn away. There’s always hope. (right?)
Ordinary1 on November 13, 2007 at 11:58 PM
“This tart is ready to go!”
That says it all.
georgej on November 14, 2007 at 1:26 AM
There are plenty of reasons not to like Curic. This video is NOT one of them.
tgillian on November 14, 2007 at 7:29 AM
I like it – all the crap hurled at her and she can still enjoy herself.
Good for her.
jake-the-goose on November 14, 2007 at 8:33 AM
I think most people don’t like Couric now (including myself) because she managed to parlay her gig on a morning show into being a nightly news anchor, something she is singularly unqualified to be. Couric is a morning personality, not a seasoned reporter. She brings no news credibility whatsoever to the nightly anchor position, and her ratings demonstrate this quite well.
That she makes millions for all of this is disturbingly sad.
