New HuffPo comedy site shows the wingnuts how it’s done

They call it 23/6, I call it “Surnow’s Revenge.” Like Ace says, remember when lefty bloggers used the (admittedly underwhelming) “Half-Hour News Hour” as a Teachable Moment about how conservatives could never be as funny as liberals? Feast your eyes on this. For extra Funny, imagine Jon Stewart mugging grotesquely after reading each store listing aloud.

Lest we be too uncharitable, though, check out the cheap but effective videos of kids goofing on Silky and Hillary Clinton. An adorable four-year-old moppet — accusing the Glacier of being a man? Resistance is futile.

They’re going for an Onion-y feel with the written content but watch this and see for yourself how comparatively dull their blade is. It’s the opposite of 23/6: Instead of tame and lame, it’s sharp — and repulsive.

Huff and Puff seems to be pretty much puffed out on that one.

HuffPo, one word:

FAIL

Bad Candy on November 13, 2007 at 10:54 AM

Wow. Completely and totally unfunny. Watching-a-train-wreck level unfunny. They win the Absolute Worst Political Humor EVER Award.

On the upside, now I won’t cringe nearly as badly when I see awkward attempts at conservative political humor. Thanks, HuffPo!

aero on November 13, 2007 at 11:03 AM

Wow, that site is bad.

p0s3r on November 13, 2007 at 11:04 AM

Oh, yeah–and that’s the worst Onion piece I’ve ever seen, too.

aero on November 13, 2007 at 11:10 AM

Boy, does that suck.

saiga on November 13, 2007 at 11:10 AM

That was the funniest thing I ever saw from the onion.

Mazztek on November 13, 2007 at 11:11 AM

The web version of Lions for Lambs.

JammieWearingFool on November 13, 2007 at 11:12 AM

I like.
I’ll totally read it for as long as my liberal-crap filters are not overwhelmed with the leftist nonsense.

Re: the latest Onion video, it looks like they’ve taken a steep turn to the left. Too bad. More humour, less bat-shit partisanship = ratings.

AlexB on November 13, 2007 at 11:14 AM

Maybe it’s multi-layered humor where the funny part is supposed to be them trying to do something funny that is totally not funny but instead stupid and offensive. Either way they failed.

deepdiver on November 13, 2007 at 11:16 AM

You want The Funny? You can’t handle The Funny.

saint kansas on November 13, 2007 at 11:25 AM

I ususally don’t sweat the small stuff but that Onion piece is absolutely tasteless, but I wouldn’t expect them to understand.

gator70 on November 13, 2007 at 11:44 AM

The kid vids were pretty cool.

mikeyboss on November 13, 2007 at 11:52 AM

Gee, I just don’t understand why all of the liberal media ventures fail…they seem so clever.
Bring back Air America…

right2bright on November 13, 2007 at 12:07 PM

I have to admit, I didn’t see the air conditioner coming.

- The Cat

P.S. The Onion is hit or miss and no gray areas.

MirCat on November 13, 2007 at 12:11 PM

I thought that HuffPo was a comedy site.

MB4 on November 13, 2007 at 12:23 PM

That was the funniest thing I ever saw from the onion.

Mazztek on November 13, 2007 at 11:11 AM

The site sucks, and that was the worst video I’ve even seen from the Onion.

Dude. It was bad.

Jaibones on November 13, 2007 at 12:24 PM

Ok, and Meow, but what the heck is with Zsa Zsa’s ridiculous red hair dye? She’s going for the teenage prostitute look? Isn’t she like 60?

Jaibones on November 13, 2007 at 12:25 PM

Ha, I love the kiddie commercials at 23/6. The Repub. candidates should grab these and run them prime-time.

“I should know, because I’m black.” (giggle)

Splashman on November 13, 2007 at 12:30 PM

Mind you, Jai, I said that was the funniest. It tells you about the rest of their stuff. It got a chuckle out of the rest of the Marines I work with, too.

The best part is the Onion Radio News. THe rest of the site is crap. Give this one a try.

Mazztek on November 13, 2007 at 12:40 PM

I found the front page to be rather unpalatable. If this is an attempt to be Onion-esk, they not only fail at this, but also end up being smug and offensive. Liberals really do not have a sense of humor (especially when they’re the subject matter). This attempt at a successful program, the Fox’s 1/2HNH, isn’t meant to be funny, but playground-style, kindergarten copycat style mockery.

Weebork on November 13, 2007 at 1:12 PM

I just had to look didn’t I. Oh, I wish I didn’t. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I really a need triple tall caramel macchiato to wake up after that.

Swift Kids for Truth?” Wow. Original.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on November 13, 2007 at 1:16 PM

…Brack Olama… Black Orama… Wonder if that last one was intentional?

GoodBoy on November 13, 2007 at 1:20 PM

The onion clip was hilarious. The 23/6 crap should be filed away until the first suicide bombs start going off after Pres. Hilary starts cutting funding to homeland security and the cia. Then it should be e-mailed to victims families.

Mazztek on November 13, 2007 at 12:40 PM

I grudgingly concede to the Cat General.

Jaibones on November 13, 2007 at 2:32 PM

Yea. I hear the cat General is a p… nevermind…
