I’d say the ad was right the smack on. A secure border keeps out terrorists, gang members and other criminals – and that’s stage one to a comprehensive fix.

The only ones who need to see this ad are the chumps who invite C.A.I.R and its fellow travelers to the White House, ask them to consult for the FBI, and manage prison muslim chaplains. Mike, Julie, are you paying attention?

Im saying that its the wrong focus to take on an IMMIGRATION debate. That debate is about people who come here almost exclusively for economic reasons.

If you split the ad in to two parts its much more effective. One part is “We need increased border security to prevent terrorists from sneaking across”. The second part is “We need to fix immigration because its a time bomb to our economic well being and takes jobs and benefits away from Americans who are already here”

See how much more effective keeping the two split are than just going head over heals trying to equate terrorism and Immigration as the same thing ?

The ad is a bit alarmist, which I believe is a liability. I believe our open borders are a problem, but this ad forces the question: if it’s as big a problem as Tancredo claims, why haven’t we suffered more attacks?

There is a very real risk of terrorist infiltration across the border but framing that as the main risk just makes it easier for the left to dismiss the whole issue out of hand as hysterical and alarmist. Tancredo’s a liability as much as he is an asset.

You mean like if someone would have tried to ring the alarm bells about terrorists threats by showing airplanes crashing into the World Trade Center prior to 9/11? I’m pretty sure that would have got dismissed as hysterical alarmism too.

I feel this is a foolish statement. The candidates are making pleas and taking up causes for the hearts and minds of our party. They are bargaining for our support and everyone knows that when you start bargaining, you start with the extreme low price and bargain and haggle your way up to a reasonable price/compromise. Some on our side are starting the negotiation of this platform issue at amnesty and working it from there. Look at Tanc not as a fringe nut but as a master negotiator who will call a spade a spade, and hopefully will bring the other 9 candidates AT LEAST to the middle on this issue that affects all of us. You get a much better deal deal when you argue for the wholesale price than you do accepting the sticker price and going along like a mindless sheep.

Why do most americans oppose illegal Aliens coming to the US ? Its only partly because of terrorism its mostly because of job loss.

Terrorists entering the US through Mexico is a known and documented FACT. It is not incidental, nor is it infrequent.
