Barbara gets a rhetorical backhand too for the media’s Iraq defeatism. I didn’t want to press my luck with fair use so I stuck to the bare essentials, but you can’t fully appreciate this clip without having seen the ton o’ crap that was the first segment. Hasselbeck called in to reveal her newborn son’s name (guess) and then the panelists — Laura excepted, thank god — took turns showing off budget clothing their stylist had picked out for them to model. Is it possible to hear a human being cringe? Listen closely and focus on Ingraham. Maybe. Just maybe.
Alas, the promised revenge for Behar’s maligning of MM on Bill Maher’s show is left untaken but there’s enough hostility between Laura and Whoopi to compensate. Dig in.
Update: Hold the phone — Bryan e-mails to point out that Laura did model her outfit in the first segment.
I fear I have no choice but to cut it. Stand by for heart-achy video.
Update: Excruciating. Although I confess, if I were Neil Cavuto, I’d be sorely tempted to open and close every episode of my show with this clip from now on.

They are REALLY threatened by Laura. Washed up comics cannot hold a candle to her.

A woman in the land of b*tches.
Splashman on November 12, 2007 at 2:08 PM
Whoopie is REALLY trying to be good. How tolerant of her.
News Flash - Behar is an idiot.
RobCon on November 12, 2007 at 2:08 PM
WOW
She’s 10x tougher than Hasselbeck.
I’d actually pay to see an Ingraham vs. Rosie match on The View.
AlexB on November 12, 2007 at 2:08 PM
I love how they libs on that panel start trotting out the victim card once Laura calls them on their b.s.
It’s also funny to hear Babwa gasp when Laura fires off the “Don’t you want to win in Iraq” point blank.
Mindcrime on November 12, 2007 at 2:11 PM
It is four to one and Laura still kicks butt.
You can tell Whoopie and Behar are out of their leauge
and the snippyness proves it.

4 liberal idiots against one intelligent conservative. And still she is holding her own.
But notice how stupid the audience is. They are so disconnected from reality they don’t know when to applaud at logical comments. They need that puke joyless to use ignorant comments like she is getting wire tapped to get a rise out of them. That cow isn’t being wire tapped.
csdeven on November 12, 2007 at 2:14 PM
So… when is Fox going to launch a lifestyle network that has the GOP version of this show?
I guarantee it would be a lot more germane and deeper than the View with Joy Behar et al just waiting to pop out the drive by comments that their writers wrote up for them.
linlithgow on November 12, 2007 at 2:14 PM
Laura - “Things are turning around for the better in Iraq and we should recognize that on this set right now.”
Notice how Whoopi quickly changes that subject by saying “We were actually talking about this…”
Joy was the one who changed the subject to Iraq in the first place. Because Laura had a better point to make, Whoopi had to swoop in and redirect. God forbid a conservative makes a good (and factual) point.
CookeyD on November 12, 2007 at 2:15 PM
For the first (and last) time in my life, I watched the View. I could tell by her body language that Laura was rolling her eyes and inwardly shaking her head at everything those dingbats were saying. Now, have watched I have to wonder, How long has that show been on the air and why?
srhoades on November 12, 2007 at 2:16 PM
The IQ points were so weighted to the far right of that table that I think it actually leaned.
And yes, Bahar may be the most ignorant person on TV. And that’s saying a lot.
Sugar Land on November 12, 2007 at 2:16 PM
God Lord…Laura really shredded them on their own show. Did you notice how the audience was stunned into silence?
GogglesPisano on November 12, 2007 at 2:16 PM
She bitchslapped all of them. Has Behar ever had anything even somewhat intelligent-sounding come out of her gaping maw?
RW Wacko on November 12, 2007 at 2:17 PM
Way to go Laura. The dimwits finally had a guest that could stand up to their lunacy and not get railroaded.
Behar demonstrates that the libtard narrative just won’t die: ‘our votes don’t even count anymore.’
When Laura talked about recognizing our progress in Iraq, a big round of applause from the audience. Unfortunately, the “girls” on the panel don’t recognize the audience’s appreciation.
Whoopi is fighting for the right to tell Bush/Vajayjay jokes with out being criticized.
And Baba still doesn’t get it. It is okay to criticize the particulars of the war effort. But if all the libs and meida do is relentlessly criticise and criticise, the admonition that they support the troops rings very hollow.
Mallard T. Drake on November 12, 2007 at 2:17 PM
Not bad considering it was 3 vs. 1.
Hoodlumman on November 12, 2007 at 2:18 PM
That’s a knockout at the opening bell, during the first round. LMAO.
abinitioadinfinitum on November 12, 2007 at 2:20 PM
Goldberg and Walters at least attempt to have an intelligent conversation. Behar ruins any discussion she joins. She’s like that person at a crowded party that you can still hear braying her opinion over the collective noise of the party, even when you’re across the room, but since she’s the hostess you can’t go and tell her to shut up.
Mibrilane on November 12, 2007 at 2:20 PM
I’d like to see a panel of Michelle, Laura, Anne and Rosie… just so she would know how Elisabeth feels. Heh
saltydogg14 on November 12, 2007 at 2:21 PM
I didn’t think Joy Behar could get as obnoxious as Rosie, but really, she has risen to the task, supported by that sheep herd of an audience.
No wonder she was on Maher’s show…I think they share the same audience, preprogrammed to clap only when they make a good point, and to shut the hell up if anyone dares to dissent.
Laura was holding her own but I knew it wouldn’t go over well. She’s got Ann Coulter’s ability to debate with real pundits, journalists, newscasters and interviewers. Whoopi and Joy are neither. They’re playing ping-pong, and Laura isn’t into games.
MadisonConservative on November 12, 2007 at 2:22 PM
Typical hysterical obfuscation by Behar and Whoopi & Bawbwa. If there was another panelist, I apologize I just didn’t notice her (I guess) over the din of those subject changing, down shouting, ever-interrupting loud mouthed battle ax’s. I love Laura to death, and respect her for giving it a whirl on The View, but you simply (anyone)can’t have a discussion if no one will let you finish a sentence and they constantly change the subject while shouting you down. It’s not a discussion, or even an argument so save your talent (Laura) for a forum that allows “free speech”.
commonsensehoosier on November 12, 2007 at 2:23 PM
When did the Black Panthers trademark “power to the people”? So no one else can ever use the phrase in any other context? I can’t believe adults actually argue over things like this. They don’t have anything important to argue about so they argue about banal, insipid b.s.
Kalifornia Kafir on November 12, 2007 at 2:25 PM
Barbara sounds like a senile grandmother.
nailinmyeye on November 12, 2007 at 2:25 PM
Geez, defensive much, gals?
“We all want things to be better in Iraq.” - Wawa
I’d have to hire a skywriter to get the word BULLSHIT large enough to make my point.
If you truly wanted things to be better in Iraq, you wouldn’t be waiting until Bush was out of office and Hillary was in power to SUPPORT THE DAMN MISSION.
saint kansas on November 12, 2007 at 2:25 PM
Instead of coming out on the half hour and hour, Joy would do better just staying inside her clock.
abinitioadinfinitum on November 12, 2007 at 2:26 PM
That was like Einstein trying to teach a class full of turnips.
infidel4life on November 12, 2007 at 2:27 PM
I thought the writers were on strike. Whoopie used the word “behoove,” and there is no way that word is a part of here daily lexicon. I think there is a scab out there crossing the picket lines. He must be found!
Weight of Glory on November 12, 2007 at 2:28 PM
I actually don’t agree with Laura’s argument about preserving our culture by complaining every time we’re offended. I don’t think that’s the way to preserve our culture. More often it results in suppressing our culture by suppressing freedom of speech. If we all squawked every time we were offended, there’d be nothing left on TV, no music on the radio, no movies in the theaters, and we’d be wearing big black tents because Muslims are offended by revealing western clothes.
I’m tired of the culture of offense. If you don’t want your kids to watch bad shows, don’t let them watch those shows. Drop cable. Get a TiVo and control what gets recorded. Solve the problem in your household–don’t demand that the rest of society conform to your idea of what’s offensive or not.
Don’t get me wrong–I’m offended by a lot on TV and in current fashions and in music and such. But I believe market forces prevail, and that is ultimately what’s best. If enough people don’t watch a trashy show, it will go away. If there’s a demand for it, it will stay. But you don’t have to watch it. The pendulum swings. Deciding on other people’s behalf what’s best for them is what liberals do, not conservatives.

Hahaha. Nice.
Mallard T. Drake on November 12, 2007 at 2:29 PM
Yeah, I agree. My first thought when that bit came on was that Whoopi’s trying to play both the Absolute Moral Authority Card and the Race Card in the same go round.
Mindcrime on November 12, 2007 at 2:29 PM
Imagine for a moment the spectre of MM, Laura, & Colter hosting Whoopi or Behar as a guest…..It would be fun, but the MSM would blame the hosts (MM,Laura & Colter) of “piling on” wouldn’t they???
There is simply no way to win an argument with a hysterical woman. That clip is proof.
commonsensehoosier on November 12, 2007 at 2:30 PM
Babs,
does not equate to “wanting to win.”
Told me pretty much all I needed to know about the nuance of liberal thought.
Oh, and Laura proves, beyond any doubt, that conservative chicks are MUCH hotter than liberal chicks.
There, I said it.

Ann vs. Rosie would be better. She’s the most ruthless of the bunch, and Ro deserves only the best.
AlexB on November 12, 2007 at 2:34 PM
Good points.
dedalus on November 12, 2007 at 2:35 PM
I don’t think they were stunned into silence because they were impressed with Laura’s intelligence and excellent points. I think that was silent hostility coming from the audience. They clapped wildly and hooted and hollered for Barbara’s and Whoopi’s comments, even before they were finished talking. They were just being rude to Laura–or perhaps they were too stupid to understand her. It was similar to when Alicia Silverstone pointedly hugged everyone but Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
If you polled that audience, I guarantee they did NOT perceive Laura as having “won” that discussion, or even any single point. She did not win them over. Not that I would expect the View’s audience to be won over to reason. Kudos to Laura for trying.
aero on November 12, 2007 at 2:35 PM
Sure it may have been 3 on 1 but the IQ balance was unfairly on the conservative side.
Smack down on the cackle fest set.

Joy
ronsfi on November 12, 2007 at 2:36 PM
Ever notice how shows like this only have ONE conservative? They never have two. The notion is to portray the conservative as the “oddball” view point. The conservative gets hammered by everyone else on the panel. If they had TWO conservatives up there, it would get across the idea that maybe it isn’t so “oddball” after all and more than one person might share those views.
How about Laura AND Mary Katherine together on the view? I would pay money to see that.
crosspatch on November 12, 2007 at 2:37 PM
Conservatives can’t. John Lennon could, obviously. And the Black Eyed Peas can record a crappy remake for Amnesty International.
Free speech was never intended for conservatives, because they’ll just abuse it.
Little-known fact: Joy Behar has a HUGE fanbase among the Black Panthers; that’s why the ladies were so defensive.
saint kansas on November 12, 2007 at 2:37 PM
Whoopie thought it was great that other people were using it. She objected to Laura’s assertion that black people in the 60’s constituted an elite group.

Down with the VIEW! Power to the people!
georgej on November 12, 2007 at 2:42 PM
The mistake Laura is you TALKED to liberals. Liberals dont think they emote.
But parading around in that dress I think shamed them more than they would like. I expected every liberal woman’s dress on that show to turn a bright green from all the envy after watching you get all the attention.
Not that I noticed or anything I was too busy watching you heh
William Amos on November 12, 2007 at 2:43 PM
Ingraham did physically look good there.
But that whole episode was awful. Nothing good came out of it whatsoever. Bad, Bad, Bad. I wish I could invent a washing machine for the brain. Anti-total recall please.
I can’t believe that Walters allowed Whoopi to ’shush’ her.
ThackerAgency on November 12, 2007 at 2:46 PM
She snathced their own show right out from under them. Way to go.
Jezla on November 12, 2007 at 2:47 PM
No contest… Laura dusts them everytime.
D2Boston on November 12, 2007 at 2:51 PM
I thought Whoopi was being reasonable for Whoopi, who once (somewhere, don’t remember where, don’t want to google this) went on a rant that culminated in “You can’t stop kids from f—in’. It feels good!”
She’s obviously smarter than Rosie and makes Behar look like–well, witty comparisons esacpe me today. She makes Behar look even dumber.
LI did fine. It’s hard when you’re four to one. She pulled some applause on her line about recognizing the Iraq turnaround, which was no mean feat with this crowd.
see-dubya on November 12, 2007 at 2:52 PM
Even if you’re on the left, it must be painfully obvious that Laura has more brainpower than all those others combined, times 10. The denial of reality involved in taking any leftist position is truly a marvel to behold.
Halley on November 12, 2007 at 2:55 PM
It seems like hair-splitting to tag her on that. Even within the administration there are differing opinions on what is an achievable level of success. There are also a wide-range of opinions among Americans on how high a level of commitment to maintain for how long in order to see that Maliki and his successors can make the country work politically.
As with Pakistan, it isn’t always possible to force a democratic system on a nation according to our timelines.
dedalus on November 12, 2007 at 2:57 PM
Ok, as always I am not going to walk in lockstep with you people or in other words I’ll be the turd in the punch bowl here for this segment - she needs to come up with something new.
That question, and we know O’Reilly will ask it again tomorrow when he’s on - that question - “don’t you want to win in Iraq?” is tired beyond reason, it needs to be retired, tucked away, written on paper in burned in a bowl like an old mortgage. It’s a ridiculous question and a preposterous arguement, not to mention rude, to assume that someone against the war doesn’t support the troops. How high-hatted and misguided for anyone in the GOP to act so irresponsibly, and continueously.
These rabid war supporters, which I am not, need some new damn material or they need to put a lid on it or we are going to keep losing. And I as a Republican are sick of these sabatours within the party. They need to go, weed them out and send them to the war party, whatever the hell that is. It used to be the Damn Democrats.
AprilOrit on November 12, 2007 at 2:58 PM
You can really tell Behar
pyreally did not like Laura at all. With the loss of Rosie, I think Beharpywill still provide tons of foot in mouth comments.Tuari on November 12, 2007 at 2:58 PM
Loved the clip, and Laura owned them. They have to gang up and shout down. That’s all they have.
Whoopi’s a big lib, but over time I’ve found her to be one of the more intelligent celebrity pundits, and she can be more intellectually honest than most. Joy’s an imbecile and Barbara was pathetic. There WAS another person sitting there, right?
Darksean on November 12, 2007 at 2:59 PM
At least she seemed reluctant to model. She didn’t really have much of a choice.
Esthier on November 12, 2007 at 2:59 PM
That’s what I was thinking. Wow!
Also, I am not in agreement with complaining over offensive things being shown on TV. Although, it’s a free country (as long as libs are kept in check)and if that floats your boat and you have the time, go for it. Keep in mind, most of it is offensive. However, I just elect to use that on/off button. If more people would do that, less offensive crap would come across our airwaves. Just my opinion.
wytammic on November 12, 2007 at 3:01 PM
4 against 1 and she still kicked their liberal hate-america asses. Whoopi says she’s not as free today as when she was a kid? She’s apparently free enough to make a complete ass of herself. No wonder her crapfest radio show failed.
roninacreage on November 12, 2007 at 3:02 PM
Bing! After making a huge and self-defeating point that “Power to the People” was lifted from the murdering, drug running, domestic terrorist gang Black Panthers (who she claims were about “taking some power so we can get the vote”), she then claims that “we’re less free now”.
Less free than not having voting rights?
Obviously, she’s full of spit on both points, but it’s pretty amazing how batshit crazy she is. Blacks had voting rights, of course, and her freedoms are just fine now, as evidenced by her ludicrous presence on national television.
Jaibones on November 12, 2007 at 3:02 PM
4 things, 1-Whoopi was wrong to say that she felt more free when she was a kid, than now. Thats just plain stupid, and contrary to current state of affairs. 2- The “pttp” phrase was not for an elite group as black at the time were disenfranchised,(the depicable ‘panthers” not withstanding)
3. Joy behar was really annoying
4. Laura needs to relax, when doing a fashion walk lol
mainmann on November 12, 2007 at 3:04 PM
As someone else pointed out, the leftards were badly out of their league. Compare resumes and then ask yourself why they would bring Laura on to discuss public policy.
Jaibones on November 12, 2007 at 3:04 PM
Yep. Vote with your remote.
When an increasing number of condom and tampon ads during dinnertime started to offend us, we got a TiVo and started skipping the ads. And we only record what we want to watch. Fantastic! So simple. Lots easier than trying to mount an outrage campaign against the networks and/or advertisers. Meanwhile, those advertisers lost our eyeballs being on their ads. Market forces, baby!
aero on November 12, 2007 at 3:12 PM
Joy Behar is supposed to be a Republican right?
The middle of this clip is quite telling. Right after Laura says we should talk about Veterans Day and the improving conditions in Iraq, Behar seems to agree and then gives a slight wave of her left hand in the direction of Ingraham.
This is callous behavior. Is Behar an adult for a 5 year old?
gabriel sutherland on November 12, 2007 at 3:13 PM
“Power to the people”, oppression, slavery, injustice and now lack of self esteem within the meta-narrative of this entire planet’s history are all the property of Black Americans, but Whoopie can give permission for the rest of us. This according to America’s favorite Cabbage Patch headed pragmatist.
I thought “power to the people” got its start with the Red Communists in Russia?
Hening on November 12, 2007 at 3:14 PM
Laura’s right, if culture is going to get back on a more moral track we have to let those in charge know and we do count, every time we email or call or write, it does count.
If you’ve ever been a studio audience you know the audience reaction is controlled by cue cards.
Speakup on November 12, 2007 at 3:15 PM
Not at all. You used the word “success” in your comment.
Why couldn’t Babs?
Like I said, there’s a difference between wanting things to “get better” and “winning/success/victory.”
The fact that she p*ussed out and took the politically expedient route denotes exactly where she stands.

A pointless exercise in non sequiturs and liberal baloney. Even laura was not on her game today. And Whoopie acts like she OWNS the program and everyone else is there at here behest.
Yeesh.. if I never ever see another clip from this miserable show I will die happy.

Man I wish Laura had a BF there and Barbara and the other member of the “Bubble bubble toil and trouble” trio had fawned over him like they did with Pelosi’s hubby.
Laura would have drop kicked their arses into Rosie oblivion.
William Amos on November 12, 2007 at 3:27 PM
Just like Rosie did! There’s something about that left chair… :)
rockbend on November 12, 2007 at 3:29 PM
Laura reluctantly contributing to the dumbing down of America. No matter how hard she tried, she could not have her intelligent discourse heard about the din of zingers and leftist one-liners.
I give her kudos for even going on that train wreck. She looked so pained to be there, especially when modeling. At least she looked great, as usual.
Once again, the new panelist brought in to help the show is now leading the show. Just like Rosie took over, it appears that Whoopie has just assumed the role. Once again, Babs is just along for the ride. The ride to hell in a hand basket.
ej_pez on November 12, 2007 at 3:30 PM
I love Laura. But did you notice? She’s got man hands.
Ali-Bubba on November 12, 2007 at 3:30 PM
I might be wrong–I don’t watch The View except for the clips I see on the web–but I think the left-hand chair (looking at the screen) is the panel moderator’s chair. In other words, Whoopi is in charge.
aero on November 12, 2007 at 3:32 PM
Ahmen. Those idiot women never cease to amaze me. Sad to think there are millions more just like them, including Hillary Clinton. If they accurately represent the mindset of American women in general, we are doomed beyond repair.
With that in mind, maybe the Arab approach to women isn’t so bad afterall. At least they can smack em when they belt out such ignorant crap. The problem is that half our men are just as stupid as the view bunnies are. What a sad day we live in. Too bad we couldn’t go back in time and deposit those stupid women on the beech on Iwo Jima in 1945.
That would suck their collective heads out their butts quick.

Whoopie starts out talking about why the Black Panthers demanded “Power to the People”, then finished by saying things were more free in her childhood. There is a disconnect there, I think. Unless she is waaay younger than the Black Panther movement.

Whoopi has a real good memory about freedom — When she was a kid the Democrats’ Jim Crow laws ruled the south and the Democrats were filibustering the 1964 Civil Rights Act. I am sure she just forgot those details of her childhood. Do we want to talk about the Democrats’ terror wing, the KKK. Yes I grew up in the south, saw it all first hand. If she wants more, I am sure Sen Byrd(D) can help her out. Maybe Whoopi was talking about another country?
I doubt any View viewers were swayed by Laura.
