I’ll say, though, that it is slightly amazing that Israel allows neighbors like these to exist. It’s a testament to the caliber of people that our friends, the Israelis, are that they haven’t turned Gaza and the West Bank into sheets of glass.

As for the story itself, it’s not surprising. I won’t waste any sympathy here; I’ll instead give it to the good Iraqis and our servicemen who are fighting an earlier-stage cultural cancer in Iraq.

VERY limited sympathy.

What we need here is cold beer, lots of popcorn and peanuts, a nice recliner and HD 24/7 coverage.

Where is the State Department when you need them? If ever it would be acceptable to supply weapons and ammo to Fatah (aka the PLO), right then would’ve been it. Surely the Israeli’s must have a few crate loads of spare Uzis they could’ve air-dropped on the crowd…

First, they need to realize that Arafat was an Egyptian and not a Palestinian.
Second, until they reject terror, they will live in terror.

It’s kind of a tragedy. I mean, the Palestinians could make money hand over fist, considering they’re in “charge” of Bethlehem, Bethany, and Jericho. Think about all the Holy Land tours that skip those places because it’s too dangerous (including the ones I’ve been on).

However, they truly are in a h-e-double hockey sticks of their own making. My sympathy only goes so far….

Of course it was the fault of Israel- if the Israelis weren’t occupying Gaza and oppressing the Palistinian people there, the cycle of violence would end there and this sort inter-factional fighting would end.

I mean, why doesn’t Israel just pull out of Gaza and leave the Palistinians to peacefully build thier own country?

It’s just the shockingest thing ever.

I know I will lose sleep mulling this one over.
