Forget the Israeli-Palestinian problem, how about working on the Palestinian-Palestinian problem?

I’m not sure what people expected when they decided to have a rally at the grave of a terrorist, but terror is in fact what ensued.

At least six people were killed today after Hamas security forces opened fire on Palestinians commemorating the death of Yasser Arafat.

The latest violence occurred as an estimated 250,000 people turned out in Gaza City carrying pictures of the late Palestinian leader, yellow Fatah flags and wearing trademark black and white Arab headdresses.

It was the largest public display of support for Fatah since it was forced out of power in Gaza by Hamas Islamists in June.

Hm. How could something like this possibly happen when one terrorist group protests another terrorist group at the grave of the world’s original arch terrorist? It’s just the shockingest thing ever.

Saw something on Al Jazeera arabic. Seems Fatah wants the UN to ban Hamas as a crime organization. Al jazeera got its hands on a copy of the paper. Will poke around to see if I can find it

What we need here is Bill Richardson’s ‘All Muslim Peace Keeping Force’. That’ll fix it.

how about working on the Palestinian-Palestinian problem?

Hmmm, maybe somebody ought to sneak the Palies a nuke, at this rate they would be more likely to use it on themselves thus solving one of the planet earth worst headaches ever.

doriangrey on November 12, 2007 at 3:46 PM

First, they need to realize that Arafat was an Egyptian and not a Palestinian.
Second, until they reject terror, they will live in terror.

I wonder how they’ll blame it on the jews?

Of course it was the fault of Israel- if the Israelis weren’t occupying Gaza and oppressing the Palistinian people there, the cycle of violence would end there and this sort inter-factional fighting would end.

I mean, why doesn’t Israel just pull out of Gaza and leave the Palistinians to peacefully build thier own country?

Hollowpoint on November 12, 2007 at 3:54 PM

You can’t work with those people. They just don’t have the brain power to do anything other than murder. All the smart ones got the hell out of there years ago. If you have ever spoken with any Palestinians, you will know what I am talking about. Murderers and thieves are all that are left there.

Should I point out that the above was sarcasm? Sigh…

Hollowpoint on November 12, 2007 at 3:57 PM

It was pretty ballsy for Fatah to stage a pro-Araf*ck rally in Gaza. These results aren’t shocking at all.

I assumed it was sarcastic as soon as I read it. :)

It’s kind of a tragedy. I mean, the Palestinians could make money hand over fist, considering they’re in “charge” of Bethlehem, Bethany, and Jericho. Think about all the Holy Land tours that skip those places because it’s too dangerous (including the ones I’ve been on).

However, they truly are in a h-e-double hockey sticks of their own making. My sympathy only goes so far….

They just have to read Jimmah. Uncle Peanut knows the Palestinians can do no wrong.

What we need here is cold beer, lots of popcorn and peanuts, a nice recliner and HD 24/7 coverage.

I’m not sure if we’ll ever see a “Palestinian Awakening” but I guess we can hope.

They have the same expressions on their faces as when they are combating the oppressors. Does not seem to matter what kind of uniform the O’S have on. Be it US, Israeli, Paks., Robes or Burkas. Rage boys for everyone. AARRRGGH me matey, look upset and fierce.

Where is the State Department when you need them? If ever it would be acceptable to supply weapons and ammo to Fatah (aka the PLO), right then would’ve been it. Surely the Israeli’s must have a few crate loads of spare Uzis they could’ve air-dropped on the crowd…

Hollowpoint on November 12, 2007 at 7:45 PM

The way I see it, one scum fighting another scum at a memorial for a major dirt bag.

VERY limited sympathy.

Hilts on November 12, 2007 at 7:53 PM

I’m not saying Israel should do anything here, of course. That would be sinking to the Palestinians’ low level.

I’ll say, though, that it is slightly amazing that Israel allows neighbors like these to exist. It’s a testament to the caliber of people that our friends, the Israelis, are that they haven’t turned Gaza and the West Bank into sheets of glass.

As for the story itself, it’s not surprising. I won’t waste any sympathy here; I’ll instead give it to the good Iraqis and our servicemen who are fighting an earlier-stage cultural cancer in Iraq.

I say let them fight it out.
