Video: Mary Katharine Ham on Giuliani and Pat Robertson

A mere four days after the big endorsement the bloggers finally get to weigh in, followed by the all-important question no one in their right mind has been asking: does Obama neglecting to cover his heart during the Star-Spangled Banner mean he’s unpatriotic? The Hammer answers that one correctly, thus sparing her from Faiz Shakir’s patented Think Progress Enlightened Finger-Wag of Shame. Sad to say, but between segments like this and O’Reilly’s “explain this whole ‘Internet’ concept to me again” shtick every Wednesday night, MK’s best chance for substantive debate these days is on Red Eye. Help us, Andrew Levy, you’re our only hope.

Allah, we missed you. Bryan broke the blog! (I know, I’m a tattle-tale).
amerpundit on November 11, 2007 at 8:35 PM
I never realized how much I enjoy snarkiness until you went on vaca. hope it was somewhere warm and fuzzy… good to have you back!
zb42 on November 11, 2007 at 8:41 PM
Allah, good to see you back.
xplodeit on November 11, 2007 at 8:45 PM
Welcome back Allah. Thanks to you I get to see some of these clips of MKH I would otherwise miss.
And for a late dinner I’m having HAM steak smothered with Garlic Alfredo and some veggies.
WildBillK on November 11, 2007 at 8:49 PM
Who is this Faiz Shakir tool? I tried looking him on Yahoo, but only found that he is “the Research Director for The Progress Report and ThinkProgress.org at the Center for American Progress.”
thuja on November 11, 2007 at 8:51 PM
Graci. MK’s warning was a bit off in timing.
steveegg on November 11, 2007 at 8:52 PM
So you’re back nearly half an hour and no robots?
RedWinged Blackbird on November 11, 2007 at 8:55 PM
Easy; Lou.
A personal bleg; let’s try to get Katie blogging again.

Welcome back, Allah.
Bryan did a superb job this week. He deserves an iPhone.
bnelson44 on November 11, 2007 at 9:20 PM
Who is that Black guy? He’s annoying as hell.
Ortzinator on November 11, 2007 at 9:22 PM
Wednesday’s newspapers carried
twothree headlines so improbable that they almost made me spit out mycoffeeWidmer’s MicroBrew. The first: “French President Says America ‘Can Count on France’.” The second: “Pat Robertson Endorses Giuliani.” [The third: Elvis found alive!!!]The
twothree headlines seem equally unlikely. We haven’t been able to count on the French since about 1918, and it was far from obvious that a champion of “family values” and a leader of the religious right would endorse the candidacy for president of a twice-divorced, pro-abortion-rights semi-lapsed Catholic. [In fact of the three, the only one that is even a little bit believable is Elvis being found alive!]- Robert Tracinski

This lefty blogger wasn’t as snarky as some, and I think he was surprised at Mary Kat’s maturity and intellect. Still, he had to say “half of the people at baseball games don’t” to justify Obama’s lack of respect for our Anthem. He actually said, “you cover your heart for the pledge, you sing during the Anthem.”
What an ignorant tool. Obviously unworthy of the chief exec. spot. If you don’t understand basic American traditions, you really should stay home on election day.
Black Adam on November 11, 2007 at 9:42 PM

RushBaby, from that picture, did you mean to say “the balls”?
Entelechy on November 11, 2007 at 9:58 PM
That fool had better tell our local track (Slinger Superspeedway) PA announcer that. Every Sunday, he says, “Gentlemen, remove your caps, place your right hand over your heart, and listen to the National Anthem, performed tonight by….”
Of course, he may not make it back from Slinger, but I won’t be held responsible for that.

Thank you MK for using a moment to remind those watching that it’s Veterans Day. Like you, though I strongly disagree with some on what’s best for this great country, I’ll never say someone isn’t patriotic but we all know your true colors and they’re red, white and blue.
Yakko77 on November 11, 2007 at 10:04 PM
Hey Allah, have fun or do you have to wait 7 to 10 days?
Speakup on November 11, 2007 at 10:08 PM
Okay… Dobson isn’t causing a split because the split is already caused by Giuliani himself. Dobson’s comments simply reflect this split.
Giuliani needs to get his ’stuff’ together and realize that he’s alienating the same voters as Hillary Clinton is with regard to these religious conservative issues.
If religious conservatives don’t want to vote for the secular moderate Giuliani, we don’t have to. GOP needs to realize that Giuliani really isn’t all they hoped he would be and need to seriously consider why Rudy is so polarizing to the GOP voter base.
If beating Hillary by any means is the priority, are the ends worth the means? Maybe we need to look toward beating Hillary with a solid comprehensive conservative platform… or is that not what the GOP is about anymore? What’s the priority GOP?

Eh. Got some rest, but the fun quotient was low.

I like Simon and Garfunkel myself, Hello darkness, my old friend, I’ve come to talk with you again
Speakup on November 11, 2007 at 10:13 PM
You could’ve, nay, should have been in Vegas.
steveegg on November 11, 2007 at 10:14 PM
To clarify my previous statement. Just as Dobson not endorsing reflects a split, Robertson is reflecting the same by endorsing.
In this case the problem is with Giuliani becoming such a polarizing candidate, not Dobson or Robertson.
Lawrence on November 11, 2007 at 10:15 PM
No, that would have been truly depressing.
Allahpundit on November 11, 2007 at 10:16 PM

RushBaby on November 11, 2007 at 10:20 PM
principles… PRINCIPLES? Faiz Shakir’ has NO principles nor honor, he lies way too easily, for his partisanship.
.
I did not see anyone NOT covering their heart, like B. Hussein , during the anthem at either World Series game here in Denver. And everyone within view always respects the flag, country and anthem at ALL baseball and football games here in Colorado. Wish I had some vid.
shooter on November 11, 2007 at 10:25 PM
And I thought I was bad with public appearances….
steveegg on November 11, 2007 at 10:26 PM
It’s been awhile since I was at a Yankees or Mets game but lots of people, possibly most, leave their arms at their sides or clasp their hands in front of them respectfully during the anthem. If I’m wearing a hat I’ll take it off but I don’t typically make a practice of covering up either.
Allahpundit on November 11, 2007 at 10:29 PM
I doubt any of the people who don’t cover their hearts are aspiring to be CinC. He’s a total jerk.
csdeven on November 11, 2007 at 10:38 PM
Welcome back AP. As others have said, you have been missed.
Weight of Glory on November 11, 2007 at 10:55 PM
Jehova’s Witnesses don’t even SAY the pledge of allegiance. I think he’s getting somewhat of a bad rap on this. I would still not vote for him…EVER!

Thanks Brian for holding the fort down. Thanks AP for continuing to build it!
sailingdutchman on November 11, 2007 at 11:07 PM
I do not know either but he is not portraying wisdom.
WORSE, what happened to mkh??? she is on cnn so talks bs like a lefty????? I was disapointed to say the least. Gonna have to watch her, was she bsing all of us all this time????? mkh, are you voting obama? Are you voting obama because you think he is cute??? bahhhh
allrsn on November 11, 2007 at 11:13 PM
Oh I do enjoy libspeak,MKH excellent as always,Faiz
commemts”Well it’s not hard to understand Pat Robertson
putting idealogy and partisanship before his principles
and so I think if you look at it,it’s not hard to understand
but I think there are deep fissures on the right here and I think we shouldn’t over look that.”
So the left thinks the Christian right have thrown caution into the wind and abondoned their principles——————-please give me a break.
It must iratate them to no end when the Liberal Party has no
principles, or bluntly,no soul.
It’s not hard to “Understand” ya,okay a cave man can do it,nice try though.
And the partisanship, again nice try,ah Nancy Polesi I
don’t see it working.
And the deep fissures on the right, yup trying your best
again,there are none.
So thats the liberal strategy, constantly trying to put a
wedge between Republicans,and Christian Republicans,
Faiz and your Liberal party are trying to make out things that are not,and always putting words into the mouths of Republicans that they never said, nice try though,I hope Faiz understands that.

Welcome back Allah, hope you had a good holiday.
canopfor on November 11, 2007 at 11:55 PM
As a Christian conservative I wish I could say I only have problems with Giuliani’s liberalism on social issues, gun control and immigration, but more important to me is the fact that he strikes me as being too easy to pigeonhole as a nut. If he is the nominee, the media will have a field day tearing him apart, to the extent that I’m afraid even the weakest Democrat could win the election. Must we choose a candidate with a past like his, just because some of the fiscal conservatives break out in hives over the social issues?
NellE on November 12, 2007 at 12:05 AM
For all you pro-abortion, gun control Rebublicans; you’ve found your man! Giuliani.
Obama’s anti-military stances are what make him un-patriotic.
Mojave Mark on November 12, 2007 at 12:11 AM
welcome back allah, u were truly missed, my week seriously felt incomplete… as for the hand over the heart thing, in the upper midwest most people didnt put their hands over their heart, they would either clasp their hands behind their backs or simply put them at their sides, so i see no fault in obama
cougfan on November 12, 2007 at 12:13 AM
Faiz looks and sounds like a typical panty-waste liberal male… same smart-a$$ wimpy voice and enunciation. What a homo.

MKH let him skate, but she scored major “nice” points with a (typically) hostile audience.
It was possible the most civil engagement I’ve seen of the right and left on a TV show in some time. Depending on how you look at it, it’s a toss up, IMHO. Short term? Ick. Long term? We’ll see.

Olbermann combines the intelligence, depth, humility and sincerity of Ted Baxter with the charm of Lou Grant.

welcome back AP, glad you got some rest, sorry it wasnt so fun.
mrfixit on November 12, 2007 at 5:00 AM
Second that. Now, after we buy our own cable alphabet soup station, with what do we fill the rest of the time not covered by MK, MM and Uncle Jimbo?

Welcome back, big guy.
Valiant on November 12, 2007 at 6:59 AM
Hey AP! Welcome back! Bryan did a good job, but you were definitely missed.
The guy on the left says patriotism should be measured by actions. No wonder the left has theirs questioned all the time!
I don’t place my hand over my heart during the Anthem. I think most don’t. No big deal. The fact it’s circulating the internet just shows how sensitive people are in their partisanship… on both sides!

Welcome back, AP; I missed your snark terribly.

Yeah, welcome back AP. Betcha been lurkin though.
captivated_dem on November 12, 2007 at 9:48 AM
Hey Southern Gent… not to worry. The people who run and participate on this blog are top notch. I am the homo on this board, but a conservative through and through. (I know that sounds like a paradox.) All Faiz would have needed to complete the picture was a pair of Richard Wolfe’s (one of Olbermann’s pals) glasses.
D2Boston on November 12, 2007 at 10:34 AM
Welcome back Allah.
You’re right about RedEye. The last time MKH was on and the clip appeared on HotAir, she was able to chime in on a wide variety of topics. Even if some of the topics were silly.
Canadian Infidel on November 12, 2007 at 10:45 AM
AP really took the air out of the room on this post. When was the last HammerTime post wherein at least half the comments were NOT about how “hot” Mary Katherine looked, or her lipstick or eye shadow, etc.?
C’mon, dude; give the girl some room to work…
Jaibones on November 12, 2007 at 10:57 AM
