I’m not sure if that proves definitively that white men CAN’T dance or they can. But it was funny.
I’m leaning towards they can sure bust a move, yo.

ViperPilot reminded us on the headline link that it’s also 60 years Airforce this year.
Thank you Marines.
Thank you Airforce.
Thank you all in the Military, past, present, and future.
We owe you much. You’re our betters.
Entelechy on November 10, 2007 at 10:06 PM
Bryan, you may want to add a link to Fox News’ Alisyn Camerota’s blog… she posted a clip from Fox & Friends, in which they had a bunch of Marines there to celebrate and have cake, including a WWII vet who got choked up. Moving clip.

My grandfather was actually a Marine during WWII as well (he’s still goin’ today at 82!). He was aboard the Navy carrier the USS Vella Gulf

(Not to be confused with another USS Vella Gulf that is currently in service)

Happy birthday and much respect to the “leathernecks” known as the US Marine Corps.

I could not agree more.
It is one thing being born with freedom…it is another thing to have earned it/or-experienced freedom first hand.

The Marines always get the biggest applause when I announce them on the plane.
God bless ALL of our Troops!

Was just doing some channel surfing and Gene Simmons
show “Family Value” is doing a tribute to the GI’s
He just visited a few Vets in VA hospital locations to
say thanks to these Vets. He’s doing a very good show.

Which one, we don’t owe you much, or you’re not our betters? I’ll disagree with you on both, I just would like to know which one you’re arguing against.
Entelechy on November 11, 2007 at 1:15 AM
Both actually, but mostly the second.

hillbillyjim on November 11, 2007 at 1:52 AM
Maybe not our betters, but they definitely have selflessly given more, more often than most.
hillbillyjim on November 11, 2007 at 1:58 AM
Some would argue that the times and circumstances make the man (people), but I would rebut that the people and their actions define the times and circumstances.
Of course you can’t have one without the other…

He did have a lot of insights. He has no modern day peer.

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.
- Mark Twain
MB4 on November 11, 2007 at 2:54 AM
Agreed. Even today, I can re-read even Tom Sawyer or Huckleberry Finn and find insights buried that I missed the first or second readings.
Truly a genius and a man before his time.
hillbillyjim on November 11, 2007 at 2:55 AM
Always acknowledge a fault. This will throw the public off guard and give you an opportunity to commit more.

One of my best friends in high school was a great-grandson of his. He was pretty smart, but not nearly that smart.
MB4 on November 11, 2007 at 3:01 AM
Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.

Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society.

His (Clemens’) history is very interesting, and not what most people would expect. Not nearly enough attention is paid to this extraordinary American in our history books. (Not enough in my school days; I hate to think what is being not being taught now.)

I also get the feeling from reading Mark Twain that some of the most interesting episodes of his life were probably not written about by himself for reasons of self-preservation.
hillbillyjim on November 11, 2007 at 3:31 AM
Didn’t mean to veer off the topic of the thread so far, but it seems everyone else is gone beddy-bye. Nonetheless, I’ll leave it here for now.
USMC and S. Clemens kick ass.

Thanks, All…!

Hey MB4,
For Marines doing and understanding,
look up “young americans credit sequence” on youtube.
(warning: extreme gore (not al), extreme language)
Take away line 4 you:
Bonus lyric:
They broke my heart,
(The New York Times, Newsweek)
They stole my soul,
And why?
I’ll never know.

Happy Birthday Marines! Thanks for all you do to keep us safe in Garrison. Heartbreakers, life takers, and fairly talented dancers (at least some of them, I guess it is true most white men can’t dance, neither can I).
Happy Veterans Day!

Happy Birthday, USMC… and thank you!

This just confirms two things, Marines never change — God bless them. And I’m glad no one had a video camera when I was in — disco dancing in a gorilla mask, frightening.
