Hopefully enough people will have lost faith in the Democrats to vote the bums out in 2008.

The entire big government approach of concentrating power in the hands of the elites rather than allowing and encouraging power to decentralize out to states and local communities is a symptom of mistrust.

Yeah, that describes the Democrats. But the Democrats aren’t the only ones whom it describes. Concentrating power is precisely what the Republicans were doing for the twelve years they were in office — and it’s what they’ll do again if they return to office.

As George Will says, the American people are philosophically conservative but operationally liberal. We like Big Government, and it shows.

Biden is on to something in saying so.

Admitting you have a problem or are the problem, is the first step to recovery.

While we all know that Democrats think of us regular people as blithering idiots (who probably worship Jesus too much and government not enough), it’s strange to see one of……

I think this has more to do with the lust for power on the part of the federal government hacks and not trust. Congressmen want power concentrated in Washington because then they can help wield it. Not so much about trust but about lust for power and greed.

The lack of trust is certainly mutual, considering the current amazingly low approval ratings of the President and the Congress. Those ratings represent growing dissatisfaction from virtually everywhere in the political spectrum. Frankly, I don’t trust the few who poll as being satisfied. Quite sadly, I fear things must get a whole lot worse before we’ll see improvement.

I think their real disillusion came after getting kicked in the teeth over and over again by the American people rejecting their amnesty proposals.

So they bring it back over and over ’til we give up from fatigue– like the EU “Constitution” which is even now being stealthily rammed down the throats of the people who overwhelmingly voted against it…or the people of NJ, who turned down a bond issue for stem cell research, because they “didn’t really understand it,” or the people of Oregon, who turned down a tax on cigs. to fund gov’t health care for middle-class kids–they didn’t get it either. Our politicians, particularly Dems, but not exclusively, despise the people.

The Democrats’ default attitude is to take power from the people rather than entrust power to the people. Biden is on to something in saying so.

The dhimms have lost me forever as a supporter. I shouldn’t say forever, but I can’t see them changing at all except for the worse, they just keep sinking to new lows on a constant basis. The Republicans have their problems, but at least they (for the most part) stand up for this country and it’s people.

No. That would make us a democracy, which we’re not. We’re a constitutional republic, and the constitution defines the limits of their authority (or it should), not us.

Of course, there’s always the amendment process, but that’s a high hurdle…and with good reason :-)

I remember Biden and that incident. But, I too worry the baseline good judgment of the public is deteriorating. This country seems to be growing more deadheads than sharpies. The deadheads are breeding like rats, and the sharpies are not. The welfare state and open borders are not helping either.

Then remind me why we employ this batch at all…
