Video: John Bolton on the terror alert, the war and the race for the White House

Red meat or common sense — you make the call. John Bolton, former Undersecretary for Arms Control and former US ambassador to the UN appeared on Fox today to talk about the FBI’s holiday terror alert, the progress of the war in Iraq and the candidates for the presidency. Too bad John Bolton isn’t one of them.
I’ve been reading Bolton’s book, Surrender is not an Option, for the past week or two. It’s great, and surprising in parts. For instance, so far Colin Powell comes off sounding pretty strong on most issues while Condi Rice…doesn’t. Bolton himself comes off much the way he does in interviews, no-nonsense, straightforward, focused on keeping the country safe and getting the job done. With Nancy Pelosi introducing yet another surrender resolution, we could use Bolton’s strength and clarity now more than ever.

Not surprised by this in the least.

If they start targeting shopping malls here, they know that there would be immediate retaliation. There would be so many middle easterners killed that they would be fleeing to the airports and asking for gov’t refugee status.
They know we don’t take any sh!t !
TheSitRep on November 8, 2007 at 5:48 PM
Exactly. Not something we’ll be proud of targeting ME innocents, but it will happen. It won’t even entirely be violence, but it will be a reinforced wariness of people of those nationalities, and if they are smart, they will be filing out of the country in huge numbers, or they’ll be a lot louder about their condemnations.

The stupidest thing for the Islamo-fascists to do now would be to commit a terrorist attack before the election. The western giant has just about fallen asleep again. If a democrat were to be elected, SHE would weaken our position by pulling out of Iraq. If the Islamo-fascists attack again BEFORE the election, suddenly the number one issue will be who has the best plan for going after those b******s.

All they need to do to wake up the general public is kill some dogs. The irony would not be lost on me at least.
SouthernGent on November 8, 2007 at 6:12 PM
John Bolton, this is the guy we need for the “War on Terror”,
the left wouldn’t confirm him, because he wasn’t one of them(Liberal),and thus-can’t manipulate him.
He’s a straight shooter,honest,and especially knows
when he’s been screwed over,by liberal media,dictators
or the interview he did with the British journalist.
Everytime we have an effective Republican, that’s good
for America, and the world,Liberals launch their hate
campaign to either silence him or her or want them to
resign.

Islam is evil and muslims are very capable of doing “the stupidest thing”.

The stupidist thing…..

Lone Star:That’s my impression as well,America is
back to normal after 911,—-but only for the peace
loving, can’t we all get along LIBERALS.
On the otherhand, thank G!D Republicans went on to a
War Footing,and justly so.

I tend to drink, but wasn’t there a little incident where a young man with a certain belief system started shooting random people at a mall in Utah.
Move along, nothing to see here.

Mr. Bolton said the “top tier” of Republican presidential candidates are “far and away” better than the Dems. I feel better about the election already. But we could try to get him into the White House with a write-in vote!

“With Nancy Pelosi introducing yet another surrender resolution …”
Excuse me, but democrats already surrendered in both houses of Congress while our magnificent military beat back the surrendercrats by kicking Al-Qaeda in the teeth over in Iraq.
America 1
Democrats and terrorism 0

Has anyone else noticed how much John Bolton resembles Teddy Roosevelt? Run John, run.
Clink on November 8, 2007 at 9:15 PM
John Bolton is fantastic. Check out Hugh Hewitt’s interview with him. It’s one hour of the cold, hard, truth about the world we live in.

They’re playing the waiting game. In years to come they’ll have demographic advantages in Europe, Africa, Russia and even India. The multiple sporadic attacks that occur are useful in cowing non-Muslims into silence during the meantime.
Hitchens is wrong when he says that 9/11 awakened us to this threat. The threat was already proceeding quite apace, 9/11 just created a frozen shock in the Western world that in many cases has led to increased immigration from majority-Muslim countries and ever more cowardly stances.
The one thing that really annoys me is when people say that they (the ROPers) are so stupid that they’re are bound to lose. The jihadists run rings around us infidels every day and yet because their beliefs are somewhat primitive its assumed that we must somehow be smarter. No amount of theorising by idiots with PhDs can match the cunning of your average emir.
aengus on November 8, 2007 at 10:08 PM
I think he would make a pretty swell running mate and vice president. Congress doesnt get the option to confirm the vice president.
paulsur on November 8, 2007 at 10:56 PM
Indeed. Welcome back Danno. Missed you. Getting ready for 2008? Regards,

It’s funny the business guy has been hitting more important things (non-business) than H&C.

JB for prez. His stache for veep.
spmat on November 8, 2007 at 11:58 PM
Not until you mentioned it. He does. All he needs is the Rough rider hat,
I like this guy because he has been totally straight. he does not back down. he does not worry about upsetting the apple cart, the prima donnas, or the P.C. princesses. I think he doesn’t waste time noticing them
He appeals as a candidate simply because he does not seem to be like most others who are positioning themselves to be both what they think we want and what they think they can get away with.
He has the Reagan in him. No b.s. Reagan did not pose. Reagan had beliefs and he lived by them. That was the best thing about Reagan. he really meant what he said. It was so cool. That was the real Camelot.
No one could shake Reagan and no one could shake me from liking him either. The more they carped about his ideals the more they spread his ideals thoughout the land because we knew he was not B.S.’ing us

heh
If they pulled Bolton into this election it could recharge the conservative battery. He could reaganize the election. That is a word I use a lot:
reaganize (verb)
to unintentionally propagate an idea thoughout a population by desparaging it in great detail. The origins of this verb can be traced to Ronald Reagan’s first Presidential campaign when the MSM disected his beliefs to convince the public they were invalid. Because most of Reagan’s core beliefs matched the core beliefs of the public the MSM ended up convincing the public that Reagan was defending their interests against the MSM. Reaganizing is very powerful because the only way to avoid it is to never discuss the opponent’s positions in detail.
For reaganizing to work the candidate must share the most sensitive core beliefs of the general public

I would vote the ‘Stache for President in a New York minute.
If he can survive Foggy Bottom without surrendering in the name of “diplomacy”, he can handle the White House with ease.

Fred Thompson and John Bolton in either position..President or Vice
mike46nzl on November 9, 2007 at 3:51 AM
Wouldn’t that drive the dhiminicrats and the msm up the wall!
Texas Nick 77 on November 9, 2007 at 5:32 AM
I hope Fred or whoever wins the nomination would choose JB for their Veep. No one else could invigorate the conservatives more and get out the vote better. ‘Twould be an interesting campaign. Think of the debate between JB and hillary’s Veep wannabe.
Texas Nick 77 on November 9, 2007 at 5:37 AM
I’ve been hoping for a Thompson/Hunter ticket, but man would a Thompson/Bolton ticket put the dems family jewels in a vice…….
doriangrey on November 9, 2007 at 8:53 AM
Thompson/Bolton…wow…that would suck the air out of congress ;-)
Ochlan on November 9, 2007 at 11:35 AM
Yes, I believe he does. I would know, because Teddy Bear happens to be my favorite President of all time.
Sultry Beauty on November 9, 2007 at 12:15 PM
I so wish he were a candidate Bryan. The donkeys would go berserk with someone so straight forward and honest.
oakpack on November 9, 2007 at 12:37 PM
A Bolton run would depend on extreme grassroots participation, he is so far from the the elitist ideal that the RNC would do their level best to undermine him just like they have for some other people popular Conservative candidates.

I have no doubt that the FBI and others have made this case very plain to the bulk of Islamic religious “leaders” in the wake of 9/11. The short version of the lecture, in my opinion, is: “Any more terrorism here, and your ass is your own! So you better start thinking about culling out the radicals.”
I don’t believe the gov’t can do squat for American Muslims if another serious attacks occurs. And whatever libtards try to protect the American Muslims will face much the same retaliation.
Unpleasant thought, but there it is.
