If you’re really going to conflate leaving all the lights on in your house unnecessarily with reading the news on the internet, then there really isn’t much point debating you because we are just operating on different levels. They really aren’t the same thing.

I don’t want “a nanny state,” as I said, I mentioned no such thing. However, you read that into my post, which says more about you than it does me. Wasting for waste’s sake? Because you “earned” it. Ugh. Ok, whatever you say. Just because you have “earned” the right to waste doesn’t make it the right thing to do. It is still unnecessary waste. For an argument’s sake or not, there’s not much of a need for it. Absurdity for absurdity’s sake is a tactic of “the left” isn’t it? So, buying their argumentative model seems counterproductive. If you buy climate change or not, there is still no need to be wasteful for waste’s sake or to prove your point. Like climate change or not, it is wasteful to leave the lights on when there is no need for them, selfish to not recycle that aluminum can, to leave the water running for no reason, to throw out food. There is just no need for it. It’s not an infringement on your individual liberty.

Well then, since you are so very energy conscious, I’m sure you must be completely outraged with NBC’s green day report also. After all, they used all of that extra jet fuel to needlessly flying Matt Lauer to the Arctic Circle just so he could preach his condescending and hypocritical message to the American people standing next to an igloo. Obviously, Lauer could have just as easily delivered that message from the candle lit anchor desk. And did you see that light left on inside that igloo? I bet that light was left on needlessly and there was no one in the igloo. But that didn’t seem to bother Matt, preaching his propaganda very much, did it ? I didn’t see you complain about that either, why is that ?

So tell me, if your neighbor who’s paying his own electric bill decides to leave a few extra lights on, does that cause YOU to have less electricity? Of course it does not…. so you need to mind your own business. You are obviously the kind of person that likes to stick their nose where it does not belong.

So you think Beck was wasting energy, even though he was doing his job, expressing his opinion using the extra lights as props to more clearly illustrate his point and standing up for people being ridiculed for merely making use of what is rightfully theirs ? If that’s what you believe, then clearly YOU are wasting energy right now too !! Do you REALLY NEED to be reading HotAir? Couldn’t you turn off your computer and save some energy? How many hours do you surf the net a day? Is it really necessary?

Do you see how that feels? Do you want people to tell you what to do in every small aspect of your life, because that is what you are advocating. And by the way, “demonstrating absurdly with absurdly” is a phrase often used by Rush Limbaugh, not exactly a leftist. And his speech has been anything but “counterproductive” for the conservative cause.

And lastly, there is nothing selfish about not recycling aluminum cans, you paid for that can and you can toss it in the trash if you want to. And if there was ever a scarcity of aluminum, which there isn’t, the dump itself could recycle aluminum once it became economically feasible to do so. That’s called the free market. Your just a collectivist thinker, you want a nanny state, you think that you have the right to tell others what to do with their own property and that kind of thinking is the essence of collectivism. Collectivism is a cancer on freedom and it’s antithetical to a free society. Wake up already !

It’s not for “wasting’s” sake, its for the purpose of demonstrating absurdly with absurdly, it serves the purpose of showing this collectivist mind-set for what it is, intrusive of your rights and un-American.

Being told what you can and cannot do with commodities you have purchased and own is not funny either… it’s called collectivism and it’s very dangerous for liberty. If there is not enough energy then the solution is to create more, not to tell people what they can and cannot do with that which they own.

As for this whole NBC thing – in spite of all their claims, they’re about as “apolitical” as the rest of Hollywood – a complete fool could understand that the “Green Week” stunt is pointless. It’s not going to make me turn off the lights in the house, nor will the “Coal Week” thing and Glenn’s point about fossil fuel’s importance to the economy make me run out and buy a Hummer H3.

Heh – douche. Tell us all about the conservation proponents of the left, dude. Al Gore burned more electricity in one home last August alone than I have burned anywhere in the last 18 months.

You want to promote conservation, get your heroes in Hollywood and the hypocrite left to match their energy consumption to their leftist rhetoric.
