Sen. Dodd: Khalid Sheik Mohammed has taken the moral high ground from the US

posted at 8:39 pm on November 8, 2007 by Bryan

In a saner time, the following remark would not only end Sen. Chris Dodd’s run for the White House. It would also end his career in the US Senate. It’s as reprehensible as the site he chose to post it on.

Compare that case [the Moussaoui trial] to the case of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who organized the attacks of 9/11. He was held in a secret prison, where he claims he was tortured severely. Whether he is lying or not, by our actions we have allowed Khalid Mohammed to claim the moral high ground. Khalid Mohammed plays martyr to a world that is inclined to believe it.

There’s no evidence that KSM was “tortured severely.” He was waterboarded, once, and he talked. Like all al Qaeda terrorists, KSM was trained to claim torture if he was captured. As a senator who wants to be president, Dodd ought to take that terrorist training into account when assessing a terrorist mastermind’s claims. Jihadists like KSM are liars as well as killers. But Dodd and indeed nearly all other Democrats just take the terrorists at their word no matter what outlandish slanders they come up with. And at the same time, they never believe a word that comes out of any Republican’s mouth. It’s disgraceful.

But even if we had stripped KSM naked and paraded him through downtown Karachi on sandals made of steak knives, Khalid Sheik Mohammed cannot claim any moral high ground from anyone. He masterminded Operation Bojinka, which was intended to kill hundreds of innocent people who were doing nothing more than flying on airplanes. And KSM masterminded 9-11, the wanton killing of nearly 3,000 innocents in an unprovoked act of war on our country. Based on his long career as a terrorist bent on killing as many kuffirs as he can, Khalid Sheik Mohammed can’t claim the moral high ground from the devil himself, much less the United States of America. KSM is filth in human form. And Dodd is taking his side.

I can’t even describe how sick I am of Democrats and liberals engaging in this kind of dishonest hyperbole just to score points with the nutroots. It’s psychotic, how far Dodd is willing to go in this quote and in the entire post to vent his disagreements with the administration’s conduct of the war. It’s also dangerous. Quotes such as Dodd’s hearten the enemy by showing them that we’re divided and at each other’s throats.

Until now, I’ve only heard one other person attempt to make the same argument that Dodd is making. That person would be Rosie O’Donnell, when she claimed that KSM wasn’t the “be all, end all of terrorism” and that we had robbed him of his humanity by waterboarding him. That presumes that KSM had any humanity to start with. Among the crimes KSM confessed to was the beheading of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. He bragged about killing Pearl because he was a Jew, and he bragged that he cut Pearl’s head off with his own hands. KSM savored Pearl’s dying screams.

So Chris Dodd has sunk to the rhetorical level of Rosie O’Donnell. He’s treating as credible the claims of a mass murderer who helped start a war. Chris Dodd isn’t fit to be president. He isn’t fit to be treated with any respect at all. He deserves censure.

Are you kidding? The elected Democrats in general supported this war and have flip flopped on it for political gain. Add to that Kerry calling the troops stupid and terrorists, Durbin comparing Gitmo guards to Nazis, Murtha calling them murderers, Reid saying the war is lost while they’re in harms way, Rockefeller going to the region in 2002 and telling Assad and other leaders in the region that we were likely going to war in Iraq, etc. etc. etc. Are you really surprised this time, that he’s a senator? Look at his colleagues! Hell, it’s this sort of behavior that stands to move him up with Democrat primary voters!

Now there’s an idea, Bryan. You seem to be a fairly creative guy. Ever thought of running for public office? LOL

On a serious note, it is just laughable how concerned some people are (politicians and private citizens alike) about how well we treat terrorists.

Guess what, Mister Dodd? He wants to kill you. That’s right. A stinky unkempt arab has nothing but contempt for you, and nothing you can do short of converting to Islam will change it.

This is just disgusting, and I want no part in this moral equivalency.

My email to Senator Dodd. Send yours here.

Senator Dodd:

I write to urge your immediate resignation from the U. S. Senate.

How reprehensible were your Huffington Post comments concerning Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. No sane individual believes Khalid owns the “high ground” before the world, but you apparently do. Khalid, after all, proudly identifies himself as the butcher who cut off Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl’s head and videotaped the slaughter.

Khalid is credited with planning both the 9/11 attack that claimed nearly 3,000 lives and the foiled Operation Bojinka airline attacks. This sick Islamofascist bastard savored Pearl’s dying screams caught on videotape for the delight of his deranged Jew-hating followers.

It is clearly impossible for you to act to defend the United States from our enemies. Your distorted fixation on water boarding has destroyed your ability to discriminate. The day you treated throat slitting, mass murder and water boarding as moral equivalents is the day this citizen lost all respect for you.

Resign and step aside, for your deference to our enemies is a threat to the Republic.

Appears captivity has done him some good. Appears he has lost some weight.

The default belief of the Democrat leadership is that the terrorists (native, abused, brown people, almost child-like in their innocence) are telling the truth and that the United States government (a wholly owned subsidiary of Halliburton, an evil Rovian greedy capitalist component of the industrial-military complex) is lying. No evidence, no logic, nothing short of a good dose of thorazine and some shock treatments are going to move them from that belief. So why bother writing letters?

Your characterization of his remarks is partisan and unfair. While I disagree with what he is saying, I understand his argument, and I do not think it fits your headline. He happens to be correct that the talk of ‘torture’ is being used as propaganda against the US abroad.

First, waterboarding is not torture. It’s scary, but not torture. Second, what kind of moral high ground do people who saw off heads and blow up grocery stores have anyway? The rest of the world can think what it wants. It’s not worth arguing with fools about one guy getting splashed with water in order to stop him from killing innocent men, women, and children anyway.

The problem here that you fail to see, acknowledge, admit, whatever, is that it is HIS CLAIMS of torture that is fueling what those abroad think of the US.

Seriously. When an allegation of some jihadi with women’s panties on his head is described as torture, then everything short of setting them free to kill innocents again can be construed as torture by those who want to believe it.

Bryan,

I don’t see Dodd saying that KSM is ENTITLED to the moral high ground. He is making the point that giving terrorists due process preserves America’s moral high ground in the eyes of the world. This is not a new argument. I don’t see him saying that KSM is morally superior to the US, but in the eyes of anti-americans around the world (those inclined to believe KSM is a martyr), KSM has the moral high ground in their eyes.

There are a lot of problems with giving terrorists due process, and I think it is a horrible idea, but I do not believe that Dodd actually believes KSM holds the moral high ground over the US except in the eyes of people already biased against us.

I also don’t think Dodd sees KSM’s claims as ‘credible’. It is a fact that plenty of people in this world will see it as such, and that is the argument I see Dodd making. It is clear that Dodd believes KSM was tortured. He states earlier that waterboarding is torture. Once again, I disagree, but MANY liberals in this country believe waterboarding is torture. There is nothing unusual about a liberal claiming that KSM was tortured by the US and as a result we have tarnished our good name in the eyes of the world.

I’m just having trouble seeing how Dodd’s comments are beyond the pale, when they are pretty consistent with his own liberal base. I don’t see them as anything that hasnt been said many times before.

The fifth column stikes again….

The only way dems would help us in the war is if Osama released a video tomorrow claiming he supports Bush. Let Osama clamor for tax-reform, less governement, school vouchers, anti-abortion, no to gay marriage and affirmative action and Dodd himself would be in the F-15 looking for the summ-mama bitch. Let Ahmedenijihad do the same and tomorrow the dems would have a resolution going to the presidents desk demanding we bomb Iran.

If they had spent a tenth of the time, just a tenth, fighting the jihadis as they’ve fought Bush, we would be on the verge of world-wide victory………..

Griz on November 9, 2007 at 10:08 AM

I can already detect a whiff of decomposition from his presidential aspirations…

POS

I sent him a little note also.

These delusional Democrats wouldn’t know high ground if they climbed Mt. Everest. In the old days, somebody like Dodd would get punched in the face for saying something like that. Ah, the good old days…

“Whether he’s lying or not”???????

Asshole.

Absolute asshole.

drjohn on November 9, 2007 at 12:22 PM

I sent a little note as I couldn’t get through to any of his offices. I would like to think the Dims would throw this asshat out on his ear but no, they’re probably all giving him the high five on the sly. POS is too kind!

Catie96706 on November 9, 2007 at 12:26 PM

Boy oh boy…it’s not even 2008 yet, people. I share in the sentiments of disgust, anger Etc., but don’t forget to save some of the righteous outrage for the voting booth.

My homestate tossed Tom Daschle out on his ear, from the US senate, so I’m telling all of Dodd’s constituents right now: It can be done.

I love it when you talk like that, Catie. Good times…

Based on his long career as a terrorist bent on killing as many kuffirs as he can, Khalid Sheik Mohammed can’t claim the moral high ground from the devil himself, much less the United States of America. KSM is filth in human form.

Bingo.

Ryan Gandy on November 9, 2007 at 5:00 PM

Khalid Sheik Mohammed can’t claim the moral high ground from the devil himself, much less the United States of America.

Oh but you forget, Bush is the devil himself, just ask Hugo.

conservnut on November 9, 2007 at 5:02 PM

For what it’s worth (a bit long I know, what can I say I was pissed) here’s a note I sent to Mr. Dodd regarding his disgraceful comments:

Mr. Dodd (I am unable to bring myself to call you Senator as it would be a sign of respect):

I am absolutely appalled at your comment regarding KSM having taken the “moral high ground” from the US because of his claims of being tortured. First of all that walking piece of garbage (KSM) through his own murderous actions (9-11, Daniel Pearl, and numerous other atrocities) has ABSOLUTELY NO MORAL GROUND TO STAND ON WHATSOEVER!

In making such comments you have managed to bolster our enemy’s propaganda to be used against us, and for what, for your own political gain that’s what! That sir is reprehensible to say the least and utterly morally repugnant! You are placing your own political aspirations above the security of our Republic, its citizens and that (during a time of war) in my opinion is treason!

KSM is a mass murderer responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people around the world and would have murdered thousands more had our government not water boarded him, a technique that is not life threatening nor has any long term effects.

As a citizen of the United States I have no qualms with KSM being water boarded or even “tortured” if it saves even just one of my fellow Americans, in fact in my opinion KSM is lucky he’s still walking and breathing and if he rots in Gitmo the rest of his life I’d be fine with that too!

The only person giving any credence to KSM having the “moral high ground” is you Mr. Dodd by even acknowledging this monster! KSM is a mass murder whose hands are dripping with blood and he is the last person we should be concerned about when it comes to maintaining the “moral high ground” as he’s only second to Satan himself when it comes to morals!

As a former military man you should know it is common practice for our enemies to claim torture at the drop of a Koran, but instead of ignoring their propaganda your public comments have given them a platform, and that in of itself aids our enemies goal.

Our enemy is already biased against us and will say and think what they will of us regardless of what we do or don’t do! In addition our enemy has proven time and time again they have no morals or qualms nor give a second thought to slaughtering thousands of innocent people to further their hateful and fascist ideology, therefore I fail to see how water boarding KSM is by any stretch of reality even slightly morally comparable to what this monster has done!

So why do you insist on playing into our enemies hands with such comments? Well in my opinion and as I stated previously you use such hyperbole because you’re running for President…the Whitehouse at any cost right Mr. Dodd? The Whitehouse even at the cost of our Republic and its citizens, the very citizens and Republic YOU took an oath to uphold and protect! Yet in the same breath you have the nerve to espouse upon KSM having taken the moral high ground from the US, talk about a slap in the face, that would be laughable it weren’t so repugnant and sickening!

If you truly are in the least bit concerned with taking the “moral high ground” then you should start by resigning your position as a Senator and apologize to the families of all those innocent victims murdered on 9-11 for even entertaining the thought that KSM has taken away the moral high ground from the US let alone that excuse for a human being having any morals to speak of!

KSM and the term “moral high ground” are not synonymous and never will be no matter how you try to spin it. You sir are not fit to be a Senator let alone President!

P.S. I will be forwarding this story to all in my address book, you can count on that!

Sen. Dodd: Khalid Sheik Mohammed has taken the moral high ground from the US

Then fvck “the moral high ground.” What does that sh1t mean, anyway?

Kralizec on November 9, 2007 at 9:39 PM

In fairness to Dodd maybe he meant Sheik Mohammed has a higher moral ground than the democratic party.
William Amos on November 8, 2007 at 9:08 PM

My thoughts exactly. Really it would be hard to identify anything moral or ethical coming for the liberal loonies.

docdave on November 9, 2007 at 10:02 PM

I’m from Connecticut… All’s I can say is…. Sorry…

But at least we’re batting .500 when it comes to Senators-Who-Have-A-Clue about the war(s) and Iran.

Chrisie Dodd… From “waitress sandwiches” to stabbing Joe in the back by endorsing Ned Lamont… now he speaks genuine Kossack gibberish.

At least I’ve got the Red Sox and Patriots.

darkpixel on November 10, 2007 at 12:09 AM

Has anyone noticed that these Dem whackjobs like to point their fingers a lot while delivering their sermons, like the Muslim whackjobs do in their videos? Interesting.

Sir Loin on November 10, 2007 at 12:47 AM

Now I think that the Sheik and the Dhemocrats share the same moral ground; one as the perpetrator and the other as the enabler.
