Video: Lefty whackjobs waterboard themselves

posted at 6:00 pm on November 6, 2007 by Bryan
Share on Facebook | regular view

They did this outside the Capitol today to protest the nomination of Michael Mukasey to become AG. I don’t think this video really helps sell the idea that it’s an extreme treatment. Compared to all the videos floating around out there of Saddam’s grisly tortures and Zarqawi’s killings, this seems mild. It must be worse than it looks. Or they’re, you know, being as excitable as usual.

Update: The folks over at Stop the ACLU have noticed something that I noticed earlier too, which is that the towel seems awfully rigid as it’s going on the guy’s face, as though there’s a shield or something there. They’re obviously hiding whatever is under the towel, which could be allowing water through or it could be keeping water from getting to the guy at all. It’s hard to say. I’m not sure that that means they’re faking the waterboarding, though I wouldn’t put it past them.

Update: Down in comments, jummy says it’s a sponge. Could be. The point is, I don’t think it’s fair to jump to claims of fakery based solely on what’s in the video.

so if you look closely at the towel, what is the object they are trying to conceal under the towel that seems to cover where they are dumping most of the water?

Canadian Imperialist Running Dog on November 6, 2007 at 6:04 PM

These people are retards.

bert169 on November 6, 2007 at 6:06 PM

More power to them. They can waterboard each other as much as they want.

Frozen Tex on November 6, 2007 at 6:06 PM

so its official. more liberals have been waterboarded than terrorists, right?

lorien1973 on November 6, 2007 at 6:06 PM

is it really torture if you are willing to have it done to yourself as a political protest?

lorien1973 on November 6, 2007 at 6:07 PM

lorien1973 on November 6, 2007 at 6:07 PM

My point exactly. If these weenies are willing to have it done repeatedly to themselves, it can’t be all that bad, can it?

Frozen Tex on November 6, 2007 at 6:08 PM

Frozen Tex on November 6, 2007 at 6:08 PM

Somehow I think I’ve experienced worse treatment at the Flume ride at Busch Gardens. Those things will really soak ya!

lorien1973 on November 6, 2007 at 6:10 PM

Hmmm…. if waterboarding is torture…

And torture is against the law…

then why are these A$$hats not arrested?

Slam dunk case (pun intended)… video evidence and all…

Romeo13 on November 6, 2007 at 6:11 PM

Thems folks is gettin’ downright desperate. Desperados… thats what they is.

Griz on November 6, 2007 at 6:11 PM

Idjits.

thegreatbeast on November 6, 2007 at 6:11 PM

Looks like there’s a shield of some kind under the towel that would divert most of the water off his face. A+ for drama though.

MT on November 6, 2007 at 6:12 PM

Thank you Bryan! You made me giggle out loud at work. It will take a while to force the smile off my face after watching that. LOL! That dude almost fake cried for their little propaganda movie. :)

wytammic on November 6, 2007 at 6:12 PM

You don’t have to look too hard at the video to see that they’ve got something solid under the towel protecting the windbag’s face (and clearly trying to hide it.) How on earth can he then provide a “first-hand” account of what it’s like to be water-boarded?

Man, they’re at least 7 different kinds of fool.

skfabc on November 6, 2007 at 6:13 PM

I wonder how they would protest abortion?

redshirt on November 6, 2007 at 6:13 PM

These “people” are so dumb! They can’t even get the procedure right! You know what is torture? Listening to this and Kucinch at the same time….OMG!!!

sharinlite on November 6, 2007 at 6:13 PM

If only the Clintons would do this. Then maybe we would get some truthful answers.

Dr. Charles G. Waugh on November 6, 2007 at 6:13 PM

so if you look closely at the towel, what is the object they are trying to conceal under the towel that seems to cover where they are dumping most of the water?

Canadian Imperialist Running Dog on November 6, 2007 at 6:04 PM

You are right, that is a 2×4 under the towel. It looks like a brick but it is too light and easily removed.
That is great, that can’t even do that right. Maybe if they hit the prisoner on the side of the head with the 2×4 they would get more information.

right2bright on November 6, 2007 at 6:14 PM

Oh please give me a break. That’s the lamest thing I may have seen all day. Obviously it isn’t too traumatic—after all the guy was available for comment moments later.

I agree with Canadian Imperialist Running Dog there was something screwy going on there.

jdpaz on November 6, 2007 at 6:15 PM

Maybe they should get together with some fetishists from San Fran… There might be a market for it, and after all this practice, these guys are likely better at it than any US interrogator.

Frozen Tex on November 6, 2007 at 6:16 PM

As a side note, it only takes about 8-12 ounces of water to bring most people down…according to some.
Don’t they know there is a water shortage and global warming?

right2bright on November 6, 2007 at 6:17 PM

gabriel sutherland on November 6, 2007 at 6:17 PM

THAT was about the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen!

MrFreeman07 on November 6, 2007 at 6:19 PM

is his face even wet when they take that towel off?

jdpaz on November 6, 2007 at 6:19 PM

If Liberals think tortue is bad, evil, whatever,
they need to be taken to movie theatre, strapped down
sitting, and role tape after tape of these Islamofacists
hadi-work of unspeakable attrocities.

canopfor on November 6, 2007 at 6:20 PM

Yeah let’s see how many offer to try real tortures like getting your finger nails pulled out or your genitals electrified. Morons is too nice a term for these asshats. BTW, are any of these idiots aware that the Rangers (I believe) practice water boarding in their training to simulate some enemy techniques? Unfortunately the enemy in this war is not so nice, it’s usually a bullet to the head or the head chopped off followed by other sundry mutilations. But hey, never question their patriotism.

oilbertan on November 6, 2007 at 6:20 PM

Awesome! Waterboard them again!

Kensington on November 6, 2007 at 6:20 PM

Why complain about waterboarding? I’d like to see them protest a beheading and mutilation, except their allies are the ones doing that.

stonemeister on November 6, 2007 at 6:21 PM

Too bad the lefties couldn’t do simulated beheadings on each other instead.

JetBoy on November 6, 2007 at 6:22 PM

“It’s forced drowning,” said the guy after a few seconds of it.

No, it’s more like your older brother or cousin dunking you in the pool repeatedly because you kept taunting him.

Eventually you learn your lesson and knock it off.

eanax on November 6, 2007 at 6:22 PM

They can’t waterboard these people enough.

liberrocky on November 6, 2007 at 6:25 PM

Probably the first clean up he’s had in weeks.

Teddy on November 6, 2007 at 6:25 PM

Dem boys are more excited than a Pakistani lawyer at a Democratic protest… seriously, maybe, just maybe they could direct their energy toward a worthy cause like say… oh, female subservience in the middle-east. Nah, we won’t hear a word out of them on any real subject. Them terrorists are the ones that need their help bad.

Griz on November 6, 2007 at 6:29 PM

If you’re ever walking by an a$$hat protest like this, interrupt them, tell them you support the use of waterboarding, and volunteer to be the guy having water poured on his face. That’ll shut them up.

The Apologist on November 6, 2007 at 6:29 PM

Too bad the lefties couldn’t do simulated beheadings on each other instead.

JetBoy on November 6, 2007 at 6:22 PM

Watch out JetBoy – that’s like having “violence fantacies” about liberals.

Entelechy on November 6, 2007 at 6:29 PM

Can we get these waterboarding demos remixed to the Benny Hill music?

I want to laugh more watching these spectacles.

gabriel sutherland on November 6, 2007 at 6:29 PM

…fantasies – to be correct.

Entelechy on November 6, 2007 at 6:30 PM

Look:

I believe torture is defined by our government as (paraphrased)”Some act which delivers permanent physical or mental damage.”

Now, despite the damaged nature of the subject’s mental state before the waterboarding, and the fact that he seemed fine as little as a few minuets after his ordeal, I think it is fair to say he was not permanently damaged. Enough.

The distinction is never made between torture for sadistic reasons and torture or precevied torture for intel. I would say something as little as face slaps can be seen as torture if the person adminstering those slaps is doing so for his own amusment and nothing else. Or when Saddam’s sons operated their rape rooms and such.
If a person has information that could save innocent lives (even innocent european lives), there is no line I would not see crossed to get that info. So, yes, sometimes torture is both necessary and good.

Liberals cannot understand the above line because of the all consuming relativism they live in. It is rather sad.

VolMagic on November 6, 2007 at 6:31 PM

I read somewhere that waterboarding involves a risk of brain damage. Or is it the other way around?

RedWinged Blackbird on November 6, 2007 at 6:32 PM

They can’t get their arms arses wrapped around any winning security/war issues, bills – thus they resort to comics/theatrics/cirsuses like these. Imagine what Nov. 2008 will bring if they lose.

Entelechy on November 6, 2007 at 6:34 PM

Water boarding? I say: Water BORING! Let them ride with Teddyboy Kennedy over a bridge!

SouthernGent on November 6, 2007 at 6:34 PM

If they’re going to engage in ridiculous street theatre, I’d like to see them do this with a mime “translating” on the side.

Nice!

I saw the object under the towel too. What a joke. Are we mean to take these people seriously? If the AP reporter was wort his salt, he or she would have asked how the object fits in to the procedure. Instead, we get this nonsense of a news report.

It’s events like this make me dream of the moonbat fantasy of Bushitler. The Bushitler could show these idiots what torture really is. It would take only a minute to get them begging to be waterboarded.

thuja on November 6, 2007 at 6:51 PM

I am going to start a rock band called the Waterboarders

GogglesPisano on November 6, 2007 at 6:51 PM

It’s so easy, a cave-moonbat can do it.

Hawkins1701 on November 6, 2007 at 6:55 PM

This just goes to prove that water boarding isn’t torture. Would someone rationally and willingly subject themselves to something that caused “severe physical or mental pain or suffering” for the hell of it? No.

Oh well, most people these days think “severe pain or suffering” is catching your partner cheating or getting a Charlie horse.

Seixon on November 6, 2007 at 6:56 PM

What a panty-waist. Just hold your breath and close your damn eyes, for God’s sake.

robblefarian on November 6, 2007 at 6:57 PM

If the enemy will forego slicing people’s heads off with butcher knives, on videotape, in favor of merely waterboarding their captives as we do, then I’d say that would be a miraculous bit of progress for human decency.

Is that what this demonstration was all about?

And when do they show what it is like to be in the hands of the terrorists?

I have a big ole’ kitchen knife that’s none too sharp.

Be glad to overnight it to them.

profitsbeard on November 6, 2007 at 7:02 PM

Soo, When are they going to behead the little dear

swirlies in middle school were much worse than this. yeah, obviously fake with a big-ass brick under the towel. Friggin’ coward. I’ll sign up for it, for real though, just for kicks.

RW Wacko on November 6, 2007 at 7:04 PM

These losers need an educational dose of reality.

I’ll subject them to something ‘real’…and I won’t need anything more than what I can carry in my jacket pockets.

They’ll quit their faggy whining about ‘torture’ after that…

If waterboarding is so horrible why do they keep doing it to each other in their little public performances? I can’t see them doing bamboo shoots under the fingernails repeatedly to each other

Keli on November 6, 2007 at 7:22 PM

so its official. more liberals have been waterboarded than terrorists, right?

Right there I thought lorien1973 had the comment of the post, but then redshirt won with this:

wonder how they would protest abortion?

Could the left be more hypocritical. They make me SICK. Waterboarding has been done 3 times and NONE since 2003 and yet 4000 children are destroyed in far more gruesome circumstances EVERY SINGLE DAY and not a word of protest from them.

Hypocritical self serving morons. That is what they are.

Rightwingsparkle on November 6, 2007 at 7:22 PM

Too bad Mike Malloy didn’t participate.

Here’s a tip…. Next time hold a taser under the towel while waterboarding each other. I promise, it’s much more fun.

OOOOOOO… Water boarding! Are you kidding me? If this was around when we were kids in my neighborhood we would have had contests to see who could last the longest.

sonnyspats1 on November 6, 2007 at 7:44 PM

Hey, this is torture.

Just look. That water is going right up his nose. Do you know how much that stings? Ow. It happened to me all the time at summer camp in sixth grade … and then snot would shoot out my nose, and the girls would laugh and laugh …

It was horrible, I tell you. Horrible.

————-

On the plus side, if any of the terrorists see this, they’ll probably die laughing.

They must think we are all such pussies.

Professor Blather on November 6, 2007 at 7:49 PM

We’ve gone from people tasing themselves to prove how horrible it is to people waterboarding themselves.

This only trivializes the issue IMHO. Not that the issue of waterboarding is trivial at this point anyways since the CIA has banned it since 2003.

Queasy on November 6, 2007 at 7:49 PM

canopfor on November 6, 2007 at 6:20 PM

It’s the great irony, isn’t it?

The only reason we have these silly debates is because nobody sees the actual truth of what real torture looks like.

I suspect even most liberals would feel a lot of shame if you could make them watch tapes of the real thing. It ain’t exactly like water-boarding and panties on the head.

Professor Blather on November 6, 2007 at 7:52 PM

Rightwingsparkle on November 6, 2007 at 7:22 PM

Thanks for the honor!
Seriously, torture may be hard to define, but I am pretty sure we can agree to this definition: If anyone will undergo it voluntarily, it isn’t torture.
And BTW, Why does the left act like W is the only president in history that ever tortured? I’ll bet more than half of them had to at some point in our nations tumultuous history.

sonnyspats1 on November 6, 2007 at 8:03 PM

That tells me a lot.

They torture someone on film, all to protest torture?

What’s next? Will they blow someone up to protest blowing people up?

Will they rape someone in order to protest rape?

Don’t they see the paradox?

And they’d better not turn around and act superior now, otherwise we can ask them “Oh, it’s okay for YOU to use “waterboarding” but not for us!”

William

William2006 on November 6, 2007 at 8:03 PM

so if you look closely at the towel, what is the object they are trying to conceal under the towel that seems to cover where they are dumping most of the water?

Canadian Imperialist Running Dog on November 6, 2007 at 6:04 PM

You are very observant, “Canadian Imperialist Running Dog”!

There appears to be a firm, almost totally cylindrical piece of equipment concealed under the towel when they remove it from the “Waterboarding demonstrator’s” face.

It could be cardboard, or plastic, or something else, but it does appear to keep its shape under the towel at removal.

By the way, did no notice what appears to be a hot chick with long legs to the viewer’s left side?

She does not appear to have any aversion to “torturing” her friend.

Do you think that, maybe, she is a “domanaitrix” out to torture someone in order to help the cause?

William

William2006 on November 6, 2007 at 8:10 PM

I have a new video to replace the Tazer scream.

Mazztek on November 6, 2007 at 8:33 PM

if someone had murdered or kidnapped my loved one, I would go through this to be eliminated as a suspect.

if the government were trying to find terrorists… I would go through it. if you’ve ever had a hot towel treatment it’s very similar just without the water… it still has the effect when the towel is wet.

but the use of the technique is being ruined just by our talking about it. because the real usefulness of the technique is if the person being interrogated believes that the interrogator may well kill him. and it’s that fear of death. not fear of waterboarding that makes them spill their guts in a last ditch effort to survive.

if we continue to discuss it as a technique that is safe and relatively harmless, then it loses it strength… this is really a non issue, don’t we all kind of like the idea that their is a group like the CIA out there… doing what ever it takes to protect us? rules and laws are made by men… life happens and sometimes the rules and laws don’t fit the circumstance and those who would protect freedom have to bend those rules… and since they fight on the side of freedom, should they not be given the benefit of the doubt to begin with?

Kaptain Amerika on November 6, 2007 at 8:45 PM

Look at the vid at about :44 there was a barrier under the towel.

LtE126 on November 6, 2007 at 8:51 PM

so if you look closely at the towel, what is the object they are trying to conceal under the towel that seems to cover where they are dumping most of the water?

it’s a sponge. that’s part of the techniqe. they weren’t pulling any sort of “trick”.

it think waterboarding is borderline at best. conservatives should bear this in mind: in the ongoing repression in castro’s prison island, nothing which goes on there is very much better or worse than what we’ve done under the rubric of “enhanced interrogation techniques”, and a lot of things we’re quite willing to recognize as human rights violations do not physicly injure.

so, no. it does not make us the equivalent of the japanese in wwii or the nva during that conflict. even the cuban comparison can be mitigated in terms of volume and motive (cuba’s violations happen within the context of domestic repression).

but i’m nonetheless relieved partially to hear that it only happened three times before being banned. it’s beneath us, i think.

i realize that from a practical perspective, it’s hard to see why. in fact, i remember the moment clearly; after months and months of the word “torture” being slung with such consternation and finally realizing that this was it, they’d been talking about waterboarding. it was like decending a staircase in the dark and putting your foot down on a landing when you expected another stair to be there. it seemed to be such a non-issue that rather than feeling victorious over all of the pageantry of outrage, i actually felt betrayed by the progressive left – i expected a jesse macbeth sort of blood libel, but instead here i had found out that they were talking about something real but superfiscially trivial.

their propaganda slogan was something allong the lines of, “we’ve given them permission to do this to our guys”. my thoughts on that were clear now: if only they would restrain themselves so. if only we weren’t dealing with people capable of grabbing a handcuffed man’s head, knife in hand, and keep sawing through until…

the point that waterboarding is at least benign enough that there have been more volunteers to demonstrate how bad it is than there have been actual interrogation subjects is well-taken. and certainly in common parlance the word “torture” conveys a lot which isn’t there with waterboarding. a lot, in fact, which many of its critics, progressives in particular, have never had a problem condoning when undertaken by “counter-hegemons”.

and yet i’m a little put off by the cackling in here. i recognize that there’s a slippery slope in the formulation of “torture” which includes “mental anguish”. that would seem to be able to encompass everything down to the sort of shame one would hope is engendered in a perpetrator by a fair conviction in an open justice system, to say nothing of the sentence delivered. and i have no doubt that progressives toil towards making that exteme a reality.

the malign goals driving the phoney outrage of the left on the one side is enough for me to be unperturbed by the unserious cheering on display here. but i can’t really join in because, well, i also recognize that there’s a slippery slope on this side as well.

jummy on November 6, 2007 at 8:52 PM

The guy should get Moonbat of the Year award for this act

ToddonCapeCod on November 6, 2007 at 8:58 PM

like i said, a sponge, part of the technique.

it should be noted that all of this calling “fake!” sort of undermines the premise that “it can’t be all that bad if they’re doing it to themselves”.

jummy on November 6, 2007 at 8:58 PM

The guy should get Moonbat of the Year award for this act

ToddonCapeCod on November 6, 2007 at 8:58 PM

yes, this very much is staged “news” and a vulgar example of activist journalism. not unlike an episode of cheaters.

jummy on November 6, 2007 at 9:01 PM

Not a sponge. A sponge would not remain so rigid while wet. More likely a face shield made from half a 2 litter bottle of coke or a large plastic pipe. If you look at the still, you will see that the towel tucks around the sharp edges of the plastic shield underneath

rarbolay on November 6, 2007 at 9:32 PM

Faking torture for fun and profit!

CommentGuy on November 6, 2007 at 10:48 PM

It certainly is not a sponge. The moonbats face is dry. His eyebrows are dry. His nostrils are dry. And the acting job he gave reminds me of a 15 years old faking a stomach ache so he don’t have to go to school. I bet when he gets home, his mom will bring cookies and warm milk down to him in the basement. Only willing fools believe this kind of pathetic street theater.

jummy on November 6, 2007 at 8:52 PM

Yeah, good idea. We put a towel over his head, place a sponge over his face to absorb the water then trickle water on his face. That’s exactly what the Rangers do.
WTF?

It was a board (looks like a brick size or 2×4) or half of a bottle, some barrier to keep the water from his mouth. Most of the water is poured on his forehead. Plus when you are waterboarded your throat locks up and you can’t yell.

However, put a little leather on the chick, a whip in her hand, and have her stand over you and yell…”do you want some, do you want it the easy way or the hard way”…that’s cool.
