Mike Huckabee is the first presidential candidate out of the gate with a slam on Fred Thompson’s MTP appearance Sunday. During that appearance, Thompson stated that he doesn’t support the Human Life Amendment. Huckabee’s take:
Senator Thompson’s comments on ‘Meet the Press’ were disappointing and disheartening for those who were expecting him to be a solid voice for conservatives. The marriage and life amendments are critical issues for those of us who have been on the front lines of these cultural battles. Sen. Thompson’s philosophy seems to be more ‘cut and run’ when it comes to these issues, rather than stand and lead.
Fred’s response this morning on Fox: Flay Huckabee’s entire record as Arkansas governor.
Thompson manages to pound Huckabee into a fine powder without ever coming across as harsh or even particularly angry. It’s as solid an appearance as I’ve seen Thompson deliver since the official announcement that he’s running.
Takeaway: Don’t mess with the Fred.

Dearest csdeven, either you underestimate the Sultry Beauty, or you overestimate yourself. There’s a great misunderstanding afoot here. Better to reflect and let it go.

You know better than that. The Fred ranks have thinned significantly and some that were the hard core supporters have backed off of supporting him so vociferously.
I help people cut through the Fred BS and see him for what he really is. Except for a few rabid Ron Paul like people who support Fred unconditionally, most everyone has come over to my way of thinking. Namely that he is not and has never been what he claimed he was 7 months ago.
I want you to watch the pattern that surrounds these Fred Threads. First, there is some less than stellar performances by Fred, followed by mild discussions about it and the supporters being disappointed by him. Next we have Fred pull off a presumable coup with the Fred supporters going bananas crowning him the next king of America. Then when the BS of his “coup” is exposed for the BS it is, the Fred supporters have a melt down and rather than defend Fred (which they cannot defend him against the facts) they start to attack me and others. The call news sources untrustworthy, yet the same source was the model of journalistic integrity just the week before when they were hammering the dems.
See, I see all this unfolding like the playwright watching his own play unfold on stage. Line by line and act by act.

Heh, my friend, the writers are on strike or about to go on one in Hollywood. Maybe you wish to come out of retirement, at least part time.
All I see is a wide open conservative race, as not seen in a loooooong time. I’m actually optimistic about 2008.

You know better than that too. You remember the early days of this nonsense. She is doing the same thing. They assume too much. They do not pay attention to the gist of the comment. Then they launch the personal attacks rather than deal with the subject at hand. Once I point out to them that they are the trolls because they are the only ones off topic, the foul attacks continue until they realize that no one is coming to support their position. Their position that makes so much sense to them that they cannot believe the rest of humanity doesn’t ban e from the internet. After I prove to them that they are the trolls, they stop commenting, run away for a day or so, and then come back stalking me in different threads to try and get some credibility back, even if it’s only in their own mind.
You want proof? Sultry has left exactly one comment in this thread and it was off topic and a personal attack on guess who. She is a troll and she’s fixated on me and even though it is flattering in a way, once I reflect on it, it really is disturbing.

We all do to one degree or another. But last summer, Fred was the anointed one and that has totally blown up in the face of his rabid groupies. Now he has to compete and he isn’t doing a very good job of it.

Hey, I just noticed he didn’t put the part about Fred Thompson being a “terrorist” in this one.
I don’t usually read that stuff, but I always assumed the guy was just a particularly energetic a-hole, cutting and pasting the same crap over and over and over. But I’m not sure that’s the case.
Frankly, it’s more than a little disturbing to imagine some psychopath sitting alone at a keyboard endlessly hammering out endless variations on the same diatribe who knows how many hours a day.
So, what? Do you think he believes he’s somehow typing louder every time he goes through his spiel?
logis on November 5, 2007 at 10:54 PM
Entelechy,
See? There is more than enough in this thread that relates to the topic, yet trolls come in and try to hijack threads with their personal problems.

I usually find irony to be quite enjoyable—-usually.
FloatingRock on November 5, 2007 at 11:05 PM
we are witnessing a textbook case of delusions of grandeur here.
Sammy316 on November 5, 2007 at 11:17 PM
csdeven, logis is not a troll. I think you might believe that anyone who disagrees with you, or your choice, is a troll. Not so…

Chill. I left that comment on Friday. It’s Monday. I have a life beyond this joint. And as for being a troll. I’ve been around since Rathergate and Allah’s In The House. My last, sad, fond memory was a picture of Derek Jetter that stayed there for months and months until the hijacking. I love AP (whom I found from another wonderful & my favorite blogger) for his most excellent piece of work on Hello and the man who shall remain nameless. Give csdeven a T-Shirt because he/she slices like a hammer.
I’m just sick of your name calling and throwing rocks in glass houses… which I think was a comment before mine from someone else so I guess I’m not so much off topic now am I?
Sultry Beauty on November 6, 2007 at 1:01 AM
BTW~ Thank you. I appreciated that comment.

Count me in.
Texas Nick 77 on November 6, 2007 at 7:28 AM
Did you hear a band called “The Bare Facts” playing it? They played somewhere in Lawton in ‘69.
Texas Nick 77 on November 6, 2007 at 7:34 AM
Like Gallagher’s “Sledge-O-Matic?”
Texas Nick 77 on November 6, 2007 at 8:17 AM
Spare me your justifications. I don’t give a crap how long you’ve been around. You are off topic with the very first comment. You are a troll. If you’d like to stick to the thread topic instead of adding to the mindless feeding frenzy then I will allow that you are not a troll.
It’s people like that degrade these threads into childish attacks on fellow members.
csdeven on November 6, 2007 at 8:55 AM
Did you notice that I didn’t respond in kind to his unwarranted insults? I was giving you the perfect example of what we were speaking of.
But now you’re defending him?
What is wrong with you? I know exactly what logis is and for the most part he has been responding to my instruction. He was on topic through most of this thread and has ceased following me around from thread to thread just to call me names.
But, for whatever reason he decided he needed to go back to his old ways with this comment:
He’s a troll as long as he tries to go off topic. His insults do absolutely nothing to further the discussion. You know as well as I do that I ignore the insults for the most part, but when I do get involved, I shame these trolls into changing their behavior. That is why many of these former trolls are not trolls any longer, but can actually have a discussion without the childish schoolyard name calling. Now it looks like logis is begging to be recycled through the training process. It is only one post, so maybe he’ll get back to staying on topic without me having to retrain him.
csdeven on November 6, 2007 at 9:12 AM
Sorry, Pard… I couldn’t resist.
Texas Nick 77 on November 6, 2007 at 9:17 AM
Yes. Like people who refer to other commenters as sissy-Marys and boot lickers. Again, people in glass houses…
Sultry Beauty on November 6, 2007 at 1:09 PM
And as far as the trolling is concerned, there is no “might” about it. csd honest-to-God believes that everyone who doesn’t address his particularly warped view of the world are the ones who are all “off-topic.” And the (literally) hundreds of repetative Spam posts he makes a day constitute the Wisdom of the Ages.
It’s called narcissism. He sees all Criticism, and even downright derision, as the highest form of praise. He doesn’t just consciously ignore everything everyone else says; in a very real way, he doesn’t even see it — it’s all just utterly irrelevant noise to him if it doesn’t match whatever view he happens to hold at the moment.
I’m not kidding about any of this. This has nothing to do with simple rudeness or insensitivity; it’s a genuine mental disorder. And I don’t think it’s just a massive series of coincidences that these people – although as a percentage their numbers may be small – are wildly over-represented on the Internet. The anonymity and lack of tactile negative feedback probably does not initially create their underlying dysfunctions, but I’m thoroughly convinced that it exacerbates them.
