If you’re looking for another reason to avoid MSNBC…
posted at 7:25 pm on November 5, 2007 by Bryan

The NYTimes reports Rosie O’Donnell “is in serious discussions to return to television atop a new soapbox: a prime-time show on the cable news channel MSNBC.” Jacques Steinberg and Bill Carter write, “Under one scenario, Ms. O’Donnell would be given the 9 p.m. slot where she would go head-to-head with two heavyweights of cable talk: Larry King Live on CNN and Hannity & Colmes on Fox News.
Television’s tendency to keep recycling the same tired, irritating failures never ceases to amaze me.

They’re perfect for each other.

Are you kidding me, Bryan? That would be reason to watch MSNBC. Allah’d be in video clip heaven.
amerpundit on November 5, 2007 at 7:27 PM
How can you call someone who actually made people want to watch The View a failure?
calbear on November 5, 2007 at 7:29 PM
Geez, I hope they trun the lights off at PMSNBC too!

There going to put another white male on the network.
roux on November 5, 2007 at 7:37 PM
Lol, this is hilarious… but then again, it’s disturbing, because if one thing is clear, NBC News doesn’t care about ratings (which = making money)… Putting nutty ideology ahead of honesty, integrity, and even money is the name of the game there, so if they do get her, it’ll be the “shock jock” game she played at the View, hoping to get the “what will she say next!?” viewers who heard about her idiocy on other news programs (also see: Olby’s manufactured battle with O’Reilly).
Sine when is Larry King still a “heavyweight”? The only thing he’s a heavyweight in, is in an owl lookalike contest.
RightWinged on November 5, 2007 at 7:37 PM
Olby at 8pm, Rosie at 9pm…..sounds like a perfect duo.

I never forgive you for that Bryan.

I figured out AP’s trick for looking at Rosie O’Fat Piggo. He watches her in a mirror so he doesn’t turn to stone.
csdeven on November 5, 2007 at 7:43 PM
What an ego this witch has. Unbelievable. Does she really think she can reign at that hour? I’m surprised she didn’t take on O’Reilly.
katieanne on November 5, 2007 at 7:43 PM
Money talks & bulls**t walks. It’s about money. They obviously think that they can make a few bucks for a few weeks, just like ABC and that stupid caveman thing I never watched, but is cancelled already. Maybe she’ll act like a cavewoman or something. It gets dumber the more I think about it.

What about replacing Keith Olberman.
After all, there must have been at least eight people who watched his show during the month of October.
Placing Rosie O’Donnel on television is a clear sign that our populace has lost its values, and is loony!
The inmates are running the asylum.

Silly me for thinking that this would just stay in the news headlines at the top of the page.
I bet she gets a lock on the lucrative fat, ugly, lesbian moonbat demographic though.
Fox News: Rebecca Gomez, Courtney Friel.
MSNBC: Olberman, Rosie.
Advantage: Fox News.
Hollowpoint on November 5, 2007 at 7:49 PM
When the Rosie O’Donnell show first airs to dismal and insignificant ratings, MSNBC will make note of the number. Then after the first couple of weeks of O’Donnell’s ignorant rants (which will be posted and promoted here on HotAir’s front page, of course) the show’s audience will double or triple in less than a month.
GE will then be able to honestly tell investors that the O’Donnell show is “THE FASTEST GROWING SHOW ON CABLE NEWS” and will charge 50%-200% more for advertising in the next quarter for the show. Yes, even though an expensive show netting 50,000 nightly viewers compared to the 2 million plus viewers for H&C would normally get a TV host fired, O’Donnell will be praised by GE for her earnings and praised by the left for directly competing with Faux Mews (“Rosie doubled her audience in less than a month while Hannity and O’Reilly steadily lost 5% of their viewers in the past year!”).
So when it happens just like I’ve said, know that O’Donnell’s “meteoric rise” is due in no small part to you. Yes, you–the HotAir.com reader that comes here to watch video of “Rosie’s Rant #1,837″ and fill up the comments section with idignation and outrage.
You want Rosie to go away? Fine. All you have to do is ignore her… It’s easy to do. Try it.
Seriously.
ScottMcC on November 5, 2007 at 7:50 PM
Bryan, your gray quote block is not beneath the photo but on top of it covering what must be a photo of Rosie, Thank You, GOOD JOB, please leave it that way, I think some things happen for a reason.
abinitioadinfinitum on November 5, 2007 at 7:54 PM
I can’t! Crazy is fun! Just look at how fun and crazy Britney is that she makes entertainment ‘news’ each night.

NOooooo, I refreshed and NOooooo
abinitioadinfinitum on November 5, 2007 at 7:57 PM
Disturbing, yes. I guess NBC/MSNBC will have to go the way of AirAmerica before its parent GE cuts off the money. If I were a GE stockholder, I’d be raising hell over this money pit.
petefrt on November 5, 2007 at 7:58 PM
huh, I might actually turn on MSNBC, just every now and then for the train wreck potential.

Yet, my cable (satellite) company gives me pMSNBC and not FOX.
To get FOX I have to pay for 20 more channels of crap. I just want a swap out.
Kini on November 5, 2007 at 8:09 PM
Oh please please please make this happen. Nothing is more self-defeating to liberalism than liberalism in its purest, most unadulterated form. The View held Rosie back, and now she’ll be getting paid to be herself. See her blog for a sampling. Hope she does poetry readings.
All praise the MSM gods! May her views live on many, many Campaign 08 ads.
Vizzini on November 5, 2007 at 8:11 PM
Okay, you can get away with saying this because you’re hot.
But everyone else on this website needs to ignore Rosie.
Seriously.
ScottMcC on November 5, 2007 at 8:12 PM
Maybe we are mis-underestimating the” obese butch psycho” demographic.
TheSitRep on November 5, 2007 at 8:15 PM
I hear ya, but for as much as we like to (legitimately) gripe about her, she serves a purpose. And that purpose is a warning to everyone else about the agenda she’s pushing.
Vizzini on November 5, 2007 at 8:15 PM
Rosie O’Donuts longevity can be summed up in one word nepotism.
sonnyspats1 on November 5, 2007 at 8:23 PM
Ha awesome. Olberman followed by O’Donnell. OK THUMBS UP LETS DO THIS!!!11!1!
Dash on November 5, 2007 at 8:25 PM
But everyone already knows she’s nuts. That’s been established.
At this point, discussing her dangerous agenda is publicity for her and her agenda.
To cut off her publicity, you dismiss her as a crank once and ignore her. A gripe about how a crank like her can get on MSNBC and rant every weekday starting 8PM Eastern/5PM Pacific is nothing but a free commercial for people to watch her ad-supported TV show.
Ignore her.

Boy, that Dan Abrams is a real wunderkind…
D2Boston on November 5, 2007 at 9:20 PM
Are you kidding me?!?!
The bottomless pit of material Rosie is, makes for good comedy.
Exit question: How long until the truther bunch grows weary of Rosie just making allusions to 9/11 being an inside job instead of pinning it on Bush?
Which we know will result in picketing and heckling from the crowd ala Bill Maher. Remember Rosie you asked for it, and so did you MSNBC. How long will the top execs let this leftwing crap continue? at some point someone has to point out that the leftwing kooks do not provide advertising revenue so sto pcourting them. CNN has learned that lesson.
Theworldisnotenough on November 5, 2007 at 9:21 PM
MSNBC? That channel I have blocked on my TV so I never see it? I don’t miss it, either.

Rosie is irrelevant and it is better to just ignore her. Hint: Bryan/Allah.

That sums it up. Hey Rush made a career on Bubba why can’t Allah make a carrer on Tubby Man-Woman?
Drtuddle on November 5, 2007 at 10:48 PM
She may have revived a comatose The View but the ratings went up when she left supposedly.
I hope this happens fast so we can get her to moderate some of the debates.
thegreatbeast on November 5, 2007 at 10:49 PM
Allah and Bryan, since it is almost guaranteed that no one is going to watch this show, please don’t abuse us by posting clips of it here. Just to be nice to regular readers.

Glen Beck is the only show in that timeslot who’s audience is growing. Larry’s and the gypsy twins’ are steadily falling.

A fat, ugly lesbian leftist with a mouth constantly excreting moronic leftist-speak. I don’t need another reason to not watch MSNBC, but she would be the icing on the cake. Who on earth cares what she thinks about anything?

Quelle tragedie, to be Rosie O’Donnell.

MSNBC hiring a truther? What a surprise!
MaelstromX on November 6, 2007 at 4:05 AM
Ditto. Nobody likes Rosie. (Even fat Irish lesbians dislike Rosie, because she fosters the stereotype that fat Irish lesbians are crazy and hateful.)
She is, therefore, the perfect prime-time host for the least-watched “news” channel on cable. The NBC executive who suggested this genius move is making a handsome six-figure salary.
Remember this, next time someone tells you that the “corporate media” are motivated by profit.
Ali-Bubba on November 6, 2007 at 4:43 AM
With Rosie on MSPDQLSMFTNBC, the block I have on DirectV for that channel will have to be a tad bit larger. Look, I have children with intelligence in the household I must protect.

Neither I nor anyone else in my family has watched anything on any of these networks (ABC, CBS, NBC. MSNBC, CNN) in possibly over a year or more. Possibly longer. There just is no point. I have spent more time watching clips here than I have anything on my TV. I agree with other posts,,, these networks concerned about global warming need to shut themselves down! Turn off the cameras, shut down the heat, keep the lights off forever and send everyone home. We’ll turn to Rush for our news. Radio is carbon friendly! And as for Rosie,, how much carbon does she consume?? Looks like quite a lot to me!

So, MSNBC gets their cable distribution license on a pay-per-viewer basis, then?

One of the posters over at Newsbusters proposed a couple of show titles:
“The Spew” & “Lardball”.
Personally I think I’d team her with Olby. Dumbpster O’Donnell would so nicely contrast the girlish whinings of everyone’s favorite BDS SportsHack.

I just met a WWII/Korean War vet awarded the DSC and Silver Star whose case is being reviewed for the Medal of Honor which at this time.
This gentleman, a real gentleman, will hopefully soon receive this honor.
I told him I believed because America is not a complete welfare state, people have to scramble to survive, so they become fighters.
He laughed and said ‘you don’t want to get Americans mad’
But then he said it is different now, America is losing it, and he mentioned Rosie O’Donnell as an example of the decay
He gave me a print describing what this young corporal did to win the DSC and the Silver star on the same day. Shot in the head and arm he used his remaining arm to fight off a day long banzai attack in Korea. At night carrying a wounded comrade he led his men across steep snow covered mountains never letting them stop in the sub zero weather (which froze his feet) until they reached safety in the morning. He said it was the coldest weather in 100 years in Korea
Rosie o’Donnell was the first name that came to him to explain the decay of our nation

Dan Abrams, now the head of NBC/MSNBC News, should be considered in the same vain as Pinch Salzberger the owner of The New York Times.
In both cases, the public be damned as their politics get in the way of any rational thinking on their part.
Also, in spite of the fact that their organizations are racing toward extinction, it appears that they, as society’s ‘true believers’, have no intension of changing and are content to die a martyr’s death.
May NBC and the NYT – RIP.
