Sweet, I looked into chartering a plane, for my brothers wedding party, for his bachelors party.
I am not sure why that did not work out (since my IQ is 25,000)…I remember hearing something like “he has only got three hours of log time” and “3 jets he has worked on has crashed”.
For some reason friends were not receptive to me chartering a plane.
F15Mech on November 5, 2007 at 12:44 AM
And if you spell your handle backwards, you get Inik!
Inik is Nez Perce for “He who falls off stationary horse and breaks leg”.
MB4 on November 5, 2007 at 12:47 AM
MB4,
It is called sarcasm
F15Mech on November 5, 2007 at 12:47 AM
Banderas and the tan suit guy…no chemistry whatsoever. I can just tell they don’t speak to each other that much when the red light on the camera goes off. I wish they had RedEye on for Sunday afternoons…just a Sunday gabfest!
SouthernGent on November 5, 2007 at 12:47 AM
I keep telling you that may be your cholesterol level!!
How much bacon do you eat anyway?
MB4 on November 5, 2007 at 12:49 AM
hmmm bacon
F15Mech on November 5, 2007 at 12:50 AM
I know that!
You are talking to the most sarcastic person on this web site!
MB4 on November 5, 2007 at 12:51 AM
My bad I figured that out after your bacon comment, my apologies.
F15Mech on November 5, 2007 at 12:53 AM
You can’t say “bacon”. It’s offensive to moslems.
SouthernGent on November 5, 2007 at 12:53 AM
Meh, M, B, 4, it fades.
“He who falls off stationary horse and breaks leg”.
Yup, done that also. But a better IQ would have prevented that, yes?
Kini on November 5, 2007 at 12:54 AM
The Banderas offering us her I.Q. is like listening to
Hillary telling us the tax (B)racket ” Her and Bill are in “
Texyank on November 5, 2007 at 12:55 AM
but bacon tastes good
pork chops taste good
F15Mech on November 5, 2007 at 12:57 AM
Why would someone lie about IQ in an anonymous comment? No one here knows who anyone else is, so it wouldn’t make sense to lie, no motivation, no benefit.
JustTruth101 on November 5, 2007 at 12:58 AM
Yes, if the horse had a higher IQ he would have been able to lean the right way at the right time and you would not have fallen off and broke your leg.
MB4 on November 5, 2007 at 12:58 AM
OK, panty hose or stockings. You decide.
Pork Fat Rules Baby,
and IQ’s
Kini on November 5, 2007 at 12:58 AM
Actually, it was me that broke my own leg chasing my dog with an IQ greater than mine, at the time.
Kini on November 5, 2007 at 1:03 AM
Maybe pigs find moslems offensive. If they do then we should probably not eat them as that would prove that they have higher IQ’s than many politicians.
MB4 on November 5, 2007 at 1:05 AM
Funny thread,
Those girls could have the IQ of lint and it wouldn’t matter to me.
abinitioadinfinitum on November 5, 2007 at 1:05 AM
You should have taken your dog’s example and gone around that ditch. You’ll know better next time.
MB4 on November 5, 2007 at 1:08 AM
So much for my ham sandwich. Really, you should be more concerned about squirrels and their IQ
Kini on November 5, 2007 at 1:09 AM
I just get to the party , pop a top on a beer and everybody goes home? Do I smell?
abinitioadinfinitum on November 5, 2007 at 1:09 AM
Blame it on my IQ or lack of.
Kini on November 5, 2007 at 1:11 AM
Very well, and welcome. IQ ( I Quizzed)
Kini on November 5, 2007 at 1:12 AM
MB4, thanks for making me laugh tears. Otherwise, this was a “vacuous” thread, to quote our good friend csdeven.
Entelechy on November 5, 2007 at 1:13 AM
Thank You, First time I heard that.
I only had one problem with this thread,
Leave Courtney Alone!
abinitioadinfinitum on November 5, 2007 at 1:16 AM
AH HA HA HA! (lol for those whom don’t understand, IQ stuff)
Huh, who’s Courtney ?!?!?
Kini on November 5, 2007 at 1:20 AM
I had to look that one up, so I guess it applies to me :-)
abinitioadinfinitum on November 5, 2007 at 1:22 AM
Poor JT101, despite your near genius-ness, you haven’t figured IT out yet, have you? WE ALL KNOW EACHOTHER HERE at HotAir. We actually meet once a month in a secret location to compare notes about YOU.
Thanks hon, see you next week at the secret HA rendezvous. Can’t wait to tell you what we dug up about you-know-who!
NightmareOnKStreet on November 5, 2007 at 1:26 AM
So AP wins, what does Bryan get? IQ?
Kini on November 5, 2007 at 1:58 AM
Darn I get more depressed everytime I take a new IQ test. Took the one above
20 years ago when I was in my 20s got a 149. Then about 10 years ago took another one and got a 139/
Just took that above one and got a 129. I think Im going senile
William Amos on November 5, 2007 at 2:39 AM
Banderas and Freil.
Can uh…somebody remind me?
What’s this IQ thing that everybody’s commenting on?
soundingboard on November 5, 2007 at 4:20 AM
Darn, I’m always late to the fun threads…
Incontheevable! :-)
Caution: Some of those online quizzes top out at 145 and may *understate* your IQ, if you’re a brainiac.
152 ?? Is that raw IQ score, or normalized (adjusted down from the raw #)?
If that’s a normalized score, then at 3.5 standard deviations from the norm, you’ve gotta be really, really good at least *something*. 130 and above is “gifted”, 140’s are “visionary”, and 150+ is genius-level.
Whoa. Again, assuming the score is normalized, that’s a 4-sigma.
I suspect a lot of HotAir commenters (and more than a few lurkers) are in the 2-4 sigma range (normalized scores of between 130 and 160), and beyond.
RD on November 5, 2007 at 6:48 AM
That’s the type of conversation that calls for a liberal application of alcohol.
Hening on November 5, 2007 at 7:22 AM
That would then be, um, 67.5 in each.
Lobe. Each lobe.
shaken on November 5, 2007 at 7:39 AM
Would I be considered dumb if I asked this: Who were those people in the vid?
Honestly, I don’t know who they are!
TwinkietheKid on November 5, 2007 at 7:51 AM
All IQ Tests are a little different I think. To get into Mensa, you have to test in the top 2%tile of one of their approved tests. I got in on the test I scored an IQ of 133 and just missed on another I scored an IQ of 146. (this was 16 years ago!) I’ve since taken one or two (who can remember?) online that placed me around 142.
Miss Banderas with a great combination of beauty and brains! She must have a photogenic memory :-)
Ordinary1 on November 5, 2007 at 8:17 AM
Race Card and NightmareonKStreet: Your hypersensitivity is showing. Calm down, go outside, maybe spend some time off line…or perhaps read a book, that might increase your IQ score so you don’t have to be so sensitive about it.
JustTruth101 on November 5, 2007 at 8:19 AM
Mensa baaaabeeeeee!
Some tests.
csdeven on November 5, 2007 at 8:24 AM
Is that smoke I saw coming from the couch over by Friel?
Jaibones on November 5, 2007 at 8:34 AM
i enjoyed that clip immensely.
Metro on November 5, 2007 at 8:48 AM
Note to the Brunette on the right, good show.
Note to the Blonde on the left, “street smarts” qualifies you for things like pole dancing.
Lawrence on November 5, 2007 at 8:58 AM
She’s cute, but still a ditz…
Tim Burton on November 5, 2007 at 9:03 AM
I’ve taken the IQ test several times. The first time I scored a 140. Then deliberately provided the responses that a conserviative would give and scored a 120. Taking the test using my liberal/leftist leaning of the 60’s I scored a 100.
The conclusion, liberal/leftist score low because they are dependent persons who expect others to provide them the answer.
A conservative is independent and think for themselves, thus score higher because of their constant search for the truth.
MSGTAS on November 5, 2007 at 9:03 AM
Julie:
Calm down.
130-144 is moderately gifted.
Your teacher and your parents lied to you.
slp on November 5, 2007 at 9:21 AM
Ditto on that one, AP. BTW, any chance of Bethany making a comeback?
CP on November 5, 2007 at 9:33 AM

I was going to say, check the MENSA site, then…
csdeven on November 5, 2007 at 8:24 AM
came in with the links.
Any mensa members here?
shooter on November 5, 2007 at 10:23 AM
Anytime Banderas and Freil are on together, I’ll be recording it.
(AP, I’ll save a copy for you, to help you thru those tough vacation times)
shooter on November 5, 2007 at 10:27 AM
I joined Mensa in 1981 or 1982. I was an active member for years before I let my membership lapse. I just recently rejoined. Just grateful they don’t retest :-) I don’t attend any meetings locally. Maybe someday. I like reading the Bulletin and some of the other stuff online. Members get a few deals on a few things too. I don’t tell people I’m a Mensan unless the subject comes up (which it never does!), so most of my friends don’t know (and probably can’t tell :-)
Ordinary1 on November 5, 2007 at 10:53 AM
I’ve taken the full Stanford-Binet IQ test three times. Once at about ten(school requirement) years of age. Once around eighteen(school again) and again in college as part of a class on administering tests such as this and the various personality inventories. I’ve never discussed my scores as I have doubts about the relevance and I really don’t like the expectations created by scores as high as mine(kidding there). For some reason I’ve found that those who will blurt out their scores are generally people I don’t end up liking. By the way, my scores between ten and eighteen dropped by a full standard deviation which I can only attribute to recreational drug use(I got better).
TBinSTL on November 5, 2007 at 11:13 AM
I don’t think that’s ever been the case for me. Maybe there’s been a point or two different but nothing significant.
True. I run a small team at my job, and one of my employees was an editor for MENSA (according to him, they may have been geniuses, but not all of them could spell). Until he started work for me, he’d never had a desk job in his life. He’s 54-years-old.
And unless I’m mistaken, he never even went to college.
He’s a great guy who is clearly intelligent, but he’s not even anywhere near being one of my best employees.
It seems to me, that the real indicator of success is motivation. People who have never had to work in school because of their high IQs generally have a hard time ever motivating themselves to do much of anything.
Esthier on November 5, 2007 at 11:25 AM
About what? Maybe we’re watching different clips, but I didn’t see where she said her parents told her anything.
Esthier on November 5, 2007 at 11:28 AM
I was born in Brooklyn, but escaped from New York as a teenager: not going back, wouldn’t accept a job located there for any amount of money.
Cities are obsolete. We don’t need to huddle together in small, uncomfortable for protection from savage natives or invading armies anymore.
I’m proud to be an “adopted Midwesterner”, with 5-6 times the house for the money, free parking, beautiful sunsets.
landlines on November 5, 2007 at 11:48 AM
No, it doesn’t apply to you. You had the curiosity to look it up :)
Entelechy on November 5, 2007 at 12:09 PM
I wouldn’t say she’s the first, but I definitely know what you’re talking about. A few years back we briefly had a reporter (though not an anchor) in Austin whose packages were unintelligible for precisely this reason (no idea what happened to her). Something similar happens with KP, actually…
Blacklake on November 5, 2007 at 12:42 PM
I heard abou this guy who IQ was SOOO high, it OD’d.
spacemonkey on November 5, 2007 at 12:49 PM
Julie Banderas -that haunting beauty – why does she have to share air time with that dork with glasses?
Hilts on November 5, 2007 at 2:59 PM
Watching Julie B. in this clip, I was immediately reminded of the Trevor and Carol from Idiocracy.
It’s about 50 seconds in if you wanna skip to it…
ScottMcC on November 5, 2007 at 3:31 PM
Thanks for the advice; now go take a nap. You’re probably tired from having to retype hypersensitivity so many times.
***
I was tested and determined to have a high IQ in grade school. I took AP physics, Calculus, Government and composition in high school. I have attended ivy league and other high ranking universities. My alma mater, USC, is less prestigious, but no Podunk U. I have been successful in life…but still have a long way to go.
I honestly think that my IQ was the least determinant factor in my life thus far; second only to college.
Don’t get me wrong, my IQ probably makes it easier when I’m solving the Rubik’s cube. But I think my parental guidance and discipline was far more important to my upbringing.
My father, a physician, was far more intelligent than I could hope to be; my mother too. My grandfather, who never graduated high school, was one of the smartest people I have ever known.
Incidentally, 2 of my closest friends were in remediation throughout their school years. They were treated as “dull” by people with presumably high IQs. Both of these guys have turned out to be highly intelligent, successful business owners and great friends. Yet it was intellectuals who dismissed them early in life.
A high IQ can be a confidence booster and obvious catalyst to learning. Character, however, is the more admirable quality — enhanced by hard work, commitment and sacrifice.
Being smart just requires you to take a test and get a good score.
The Race Card on November 5, 2007 at 4:20 PM
If ever there were a cue for the Melissa Theuriau video….
She’s so hot, I can’t understand a word she’s saying, nor could I care less.
135 is pretty smart, top 2%.

what the hell’s an I.Q.?
madmonkphotog on November 5, 2007 at 7:58 PM
‘
Let me get this straight. You’re on vacation at ‘home?
Don’t you work from ‘home’?
Now, I understand the call of the busman’s holiday.
I’ve engaged in the practice myself.
But, if I may peel a layer through amateur analysis, I humbly offer a palliative for the psyche.
I would prescribe a small dose of debauchery.
Being a powerful substance, with potential for abuse the preferred psycho/pharmalogical dosage would have to be closely monitored.
And adjusted as needed.
Come to NOLA and spend a week walking the French Quarter.
I know…things have been better down here, but it’s still worth the
time and troublerisk. And you might even get lucky.
Hell even I almost got laid there once.
