Video: Bill Clinton tries the finger-wag trick again

posted at 7:00 pm on November 3, 2007 by Bryan

America, do you really want to put the Clintons back in the White House? Eight years of double talk and irresponsibility weren’t enough? Have we already forgotten this moment, in which Clinton looked the entire country in the eye and lied through his teeth?

Now, listen to his tone in that video and then click over to listen to his tone in this one. He’s finger wagging at Tim Russert for daring to ask about Hillarycare emails and communications. Watching that video, I flashed back to January 1998.

Asking tough and relevant questions of someone who wants to be leader of the free world. The nerve.

Really, America, do we want to put these people back in the White House? Any time his wife the president gets criticized, Wild Bill will be out there trying this trick or the rant at Fox trick or one of other many tricks.

We don’t need that.

Really, America, do we want to put these people back in the White House?

Well if she makes it, at least we get back all the things they walked out of the White House with back in 2001.

PatrickS on November 3, 2007 at 7:11 PM

The Clinton’s are the embodiment of sleazy and criminal Washington insider politics. I don’t think they have a single moral bone in their collective bodies. It’s absolutely disgusting.

csdeven on November 3, 2007 at 7:12 PM

Unfortunately, it’s just more preaching to the choir. Since we’re reading it here only, we aren’t the people to convince. The liberal loons just continue to stand around with their heads up their butts.

stacman on November 3, 2007 at 7:13 PM

No no pleeese no! No more.

Their attack machine works well when it’s a Republican, so the media can dogpile on the victim. This time, the bad guys are other Democrats, and the game just isn’t working. It’s fun to watch the Democrats cannibalize themselves. If the nuts can come together and derail Hillary, it only makes a Republican in the White House after Bush a very real possibility.

John Edwards is right; there are two Americas. Those who remember the Clinton years with nostalgia, and those who remember them with nausea, and we’ll just never understand each other.

tikvah on November 3, 2007 at 7:18 PM

I think the more that people see them for the sleaze balls that they are the less likely they are to vote for them…I mean her. They fooled a large number of Americans for years, at some point people have got to say “that’s enough of their malarky”.
That and get a really strong candidate to choose instead of her.

bbz123 on November 3, 2007 at 7:20 PM

They are horrifically fascinating in a learning-to-shrink-heads-on-the-discovery-channel sort of way. He is a walking libido, such a slave to his uncontrollable warm-blooded urges that he nearly brought down his own presidency and she a reptile, swallowing rats whole in between automoton fake smiles and forced laughs.

I say the skip the White House and we get them a sitcom. New Odd couple anyone?

Small blessings: today there is the Internet and it is harder to hide your lies today than ever before. It’s also faster to catch up with slimballs. Finger pointing won’t work this time and as catch them in their lies, there’ll be videos to share. The problem as I see it is that we do not yet have a strong person in our list of candidates!

Chelsea Clinton turns 28 in Feb. Why is the press not interviewing her? Bill thinks she’s a little kid who has the right not to be bothered by the press? She’s a grown woman, we would hope.

You know if Chelsea had choosen to get involved inpolitics it would be fair game. But like GW’s daughters dont think its relevant to drag people who arent in politics into political battles

Maybe you’re right, but I always wonder what her future plans are. Also, as an adult, I think she should be able to say no comment, if she doesn’t want any attention from reporters.

JiangxiDad on November 3, 2007 at 7:38 PM

Have we already forgotten this moment, in which Clinton looked the entire country in the eye and lied through his teeth?

Speaking personally and sincerely here, I can’t properly put into words the seismic effect that finger wag had on my own political outlook.

I grew up and went through school thinking I was a liberal and took Slick Willy with more than a few grains of salt, but that moment tore it for me. Lie to me all you want — you’re a politician, after all — but DO NOT wag your m*$(%f*ing finger at me while you’re doing it.

windbag on November 3, 2007 at 7:18 PM

I believe the opposite. If she makes it to the general it will be so much easier to beat the dems. Obama and Edwards will be the harder ones to knock out in Nov. ’08.

I could only watch for a few seconds. Watch his eyes. Oh, his eyes. They, not that finger or self-righteous voice and tone tell all. Oh, the eyes. He’s a vicious thing. But she scares me in myriad ways more than he ever could, did or does. Beware the witch. She’s a regal, scorned, betrayed misanthrope, who thinks she deserves to run dictate the world.

But, it will never be. A Clinton will never be president again. Neither will a Bush. And so it should be.

If the U.S.A. were Hollywood, it would make for a grand melodrama. But, alas, it still is a wonderful country, this one of ours. If it ever turns into a Hollywood, then we deserve either of the clans. It is in our power to keep this a republic versus a kingdom. The hour of awakening is here.

Entelechy on November 3, 2007 at 7:45 PM

Billy wagging that finger was the mildest of screwing this country got from that scaliwag. And never forget that it took the two of them, no doubt whatever. They can’t be a twosome selectively, depending on the polls or the way the wind blows.

The consequences of his actions/inactions have cost and will cost us for many years to come. The media has covered up but the truth is always the truth.

Someone with real balls needs to expose them later next year clearly, repeatedly and unabashedly. With the internet, alternate radio and TV they won’t be able to hide, no matter their faux and constant indignation.

Slick will not work in 2008.

Entelechy on November 3, 2007 at 7:53 PM

It will be forever his legacy, that and impeachment.

Clinton lied, blue dress was stained.
Cigar aficionado’s everywhere are dismayed.

Hillary and the Dems have something against Cigar smokers, since they want to tax them to pay for SCHIP. Wonder why, hmmm….

Ken Starr for Hillary?

Lawyers at Kirkland & Ellis, the law firm that’s home to Whitewater prosecutor Kenneth Starr and Bush administration official Jay Lefkowitz, have given more to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign than to all of the top Republican candidates combined.

Kirkland, based in Chicago, is one of several corporate law firms that traditionally backed Republicans where lawyers are turning to Democratic candidates. Lawyers say the change is largely due to disenchantment with the Republican Party’s social policies and the war in Iraq.

“The Iraq war has a very significant pull on people, but it’s not just limited to that,” said Kirk Radke, a New York partner at Kirkland who is fundraising for Clinton. “There’s the need for a better posture within the international community.”

Freakin lawyers.

Am I hallucinating, or did I hear Billy Jeff say, “In the last few weeks since she’s been a candidate”…?

What planet do the Clintons live on that an entire lifetime is reduced to “weeks”?

And may I add – when B.J. said “HOW DARE YOU!” to that Truther a few days ago, he was lying then too.

YES I WANT THEM BACK IN OFFICE!!!!

How else will Iran be able to arm itself with nuclear weapons thus giving us a reason to invade them too!!

*sarcasm off*

I wonder how often Kim Jong Ill thanks Bill Clinton for allowing him to arm with nuclear weapons when millions of his own people are starving and desparately trying to flee the country more than Cubans fleeing Cuba. I wonder how much of our aid $$ went to that nuclear program?

Reminds me of when Hillary made that comment about cleaning under the carpet when she gets to the White House. First thing I thought was, “OMG, I can’t believe she said that! Doesn’t she know that everyone is going to immediately think–Bill’s condoms! Was I really the only one?

Set-up for a joke that needs a good punch-line:
If someone who is a member of AA is called “a friend of Bill’s,” what is someone who is a member of SAA (Sex Addicts Anonymous) called? Add the punchline, I can’t think of one.

This shite isn’t playing very well. A quick scan of the first few comments at the Seattle PI Big Blog don’t poll well for the Clinton schtick, and Seattle is supposed to be a big Lib town. I’ve only seen devastating derision of Bill’s clumsy feint.

One thing that really burns my oil is Clinton’s tactic of trying to elicit agreement for what he says by asking the press to validate what he’s saying while he is saying it. In this instance, he was trying to gull someone into verifying what Russert specifically said while there was little chance the reporters would have had Russert’s remarks in hand so that they could check them on the fly.
I first noticed Clinton using this strategy during his first press conference after the immolation of 83 people at Waco, TX.

I agree with you on this. It appears that at least some of the records will be released in early 2008. Not all but enough to do some damage in the general – maybe throw a glitch or two into the primaries but not very likely.

I was exagerating a bit – her own rapsheet, plus the socialist agenda she pushes is enough evidence for what I suggest.
There is enough to beat her on in several arenas – she is unqualified in so many ways. I just hope that all Hell gets unloaded on this woman before the election. I want to see her debated, exposed, Swift-Boated, and defeated. It’s time certain people not be shy and do their country a service.

Clinton said the letter was written 5 years ago asking the archives to release information faster than they normally would. He said the archives are limited by privacy and national security laws on what information they can release and when they can release it.

From a post on the linked article:

The letter says:
With respect to easing section 2204(a)(5), information should generally be considered for withholding only if it contains:
7. communications directly between the President and the First Lady, and their families, unless routine in nature;

If all that is true, I don’t think it was a fair question to ask Hillary. It hid too much background information and didn’t really have anything to do with current day issues.

Hillary will be the easiest candidate for Republicans to defeat, so anyone who wants a Republican to win in 2008 should not attack her too much until she has the nomination locked up.
Jason

Jason on November 4, 2007 at 5:28 AM

If what Bill says is true, it’s the only time he ever wanted any records released sooner rather than later. Usualy, he and Hill want all their records deep-sixed. Or else they’re apt to show up in the funniest places. On tables in private White House rooms, under construction vehicles in National Archives parking lot, etc., etc., etc.

Qzsusy on November 4, 2007 at 11:14 AM
