Michelle:
I miss your vents :(
I’m getting tired of the increasing focus on “Here is what this politician/actor/religousleader/racist said. Attack him” type of things.
VinceP1974 on November 3, 2007 at 10:02 AM
I was hoping it would get nominated for “Best Blog.”
frankj on November 3, 2007 at 10:03 AM
“Best subheadings.”
Nuance.
Mark Jaquith on November 3, 2007 at 10:07 AM
Me too, but Michelle is and she’s leading. Keep voting folks.
Kowboy on November 3, 2007 at 10:09 AM
Don’t vote. Lame-o-rama!
Allahpundit on November 3, 2007 at 10:09 AM
I see MM’s also in the hunt for best conservative blog. Ace is in the lead.
flipflop on November 3, 2007 at 10:11 AM
HA would be a shoo-in to win if Bryan would write every day–he’s the best
jgapinoy on November 3, 2007 at 10:11 AM
This is one stop shopping. What’s really important and what’s really numb, all on one page. No doubt that this is “The Place”. I think the little people (ahem) who contribute to the witty banter need to be remembered with IPhones once the award is given.
Will Michelle wear it around her neck like Al Gore wears his? (and a cape?)
Hening on November 3, 2007 at 10:12 AM
Bryan’s posts are always interesting!
VinceP1974 on November 3, 2007 at 10:12 AM
You neglected to mention that HamNation is also in the race.
OK, I voted for Hot Air, but it was a tough decision.
RedWinged Blackbird on November 3, 2007 at 10:12 AM
Dear gawd don’t let “crooksandliars” get the award….ugh…
HotAir is in the lead! Michelle’s MM is doing well too. I tip my hat, and raise my Winnie the Pooh coffee mug to ya!
JetBoy on November 3, 2007 at 10:14 AM
MM is nominated for Best Blog:

Cool. Michelle/Allahpundit/Bryan ‘07!
aengus on November 3, 2007 at 10:20 AM
Oh, and right now she is ahead of Huffington Post and the rest of the pack :-)
Each IP can vote once a day.
bnelson44 on November 3, 2007 at 10:21 AM
As do I, but as a daily visitor yet semi-rare commentor, I have to say that this not-so-little HA Community has an absolutely delicious blend of other Junior Venters, from RushBaby to dorian to entelechy to Tony to…..you folks make me smile, think, boil, etc. Keep it up, fine people…….
PatrickS on November 3, 2007 at 10:21 AM
Can crooks and liars be even considered a videoblog? All they do is post stuff from television. HA has original content.
terryannonline on November 3, 2007 at 10:24 AM
Ah, the ceremonial “kick AP in the balls” comment. A Hot Air tradition. Do I hear any takers for “let’s replace AP with Ace”? Anyone? Bueller?
Allahpundit on November 3, 2007 at 10:25 AM
Here comes the ceremonial suck up to AP comment: You are irreplaceable Allah:)
terryannonline on November 3, 2007 at 10:26 AM
Don’t fret, AP. You’re still loved and appreciated here. Even if you ARE godless. And iPodless.
PatrickS on November 3, 2007 at 10:27 AM
Perhaps Bryan is APs’ alter ego….or vice versa.
Heading out to vote.
captivated_dem on November 3, 2007 at 10:31 AM
By the way, HamNation is also up for Video of the Year, just in case any
pantingdroolingloyal fans want to help out.RedWinged Blackbird on November 3, 2007 at 10:32 AM
Powerlineblog is also a very good blog and quite complimentary to hotair. I read them together and that fortifies me for the day ahead. But let’s face it, I don’t think I would like to see a vent segment with Paul or Scott or John as cheerleaders!
Larraby on November 3, 2007 at 10:33 AM
Bryan’s posts make me want to puke all over myself and then eat the puke. He should be replaced with Allahpundit.
I’ve never been quite happy how these internet poll votes turn out. People should just feel lucky Ron Paul wasn’t nominated for any category.
frankj on November 3, 2007 at 10:35 AM
Conservatism is about tradition!
Without AP, none of us would have ever discovered the raw, unrivaled talent of this man.
Imagine life without it. Just try!
Slublog on November 3, 2007 at 10:36 AM
AP may be a bit hung over from the Newcastle last night.
You know we love ya, babe. Clever thinking, great writing and interesting perspective.
mikeyboss on November 3, 2007 at 10:36 AM
I wasn’t being anti-Allah with my pro-Bryanism.
VinceP1974 on November 3, 2007 at 10:40 AM
Geez, one would think that AP and Bryan are competing against each other and not working on the same Web site.
terryannonline on November 3, 2007 at 10:40 AM
The good guys are leading in both polls now.
Michelle, are you planning to open registration at your site again anytime soon?
mikeyboss on November 3, 2007 at 10:41 AM
Voted for all the right ones, but I’m a bit pissed JihadWatch didn’t make it into “Best Religious Blog”…
MadisonConservative on November 3, 2007 at 10:45 AM
Congratulations for achieving such recognition.
I have said it dozens of times, MichelleMalkin dot com and Hot Air are the best. Layout, content, tone, tenor you name it, y’all are number one in my book.
And Allah, you’ve attracted what, a million hits week? Not bad. Not bad at all.
Many thanks to all of you for the fine product you present.

I also miss Michelle’s “Vent” videos. The rest of the blog is definitely good enough to carry itself. Otherwise I wouldn’t keep coming back. But Vent was easily the number 1 reason to visit Hot Air.
The headlines are alright, and are obviously cheaper and less time consuming to produce. But I can get headlines virtually anywhere. PLEASE BRING BACK VENT!
Less Islam related commentary and more social/domestic commentary would also be great. Terrorists are bad, I get that. But it’s also repetitive. Republicans and conservatives need to get back on track with our core issues and causes or we’re going to lose our soul to the Iraq war and the “global war on terror.” Consider this… Rudy Giuliani is somehow the GOP front runner for president. Never mind that’s he a cross dressing pro-abortion east coast liberal. He was in New York City on 9/11 so I guess that means he’s a real conservative and qualified to lead the free world.
And no, we don’t need a war in Iran either. If Israel wants a war with Iran, let them fight it themselves.
John on November 3, 2007 at 10:49 AM
My vote? Crooks & Liars, baby!
RightWinged on November 3, 2007 at 10:49 AM
This is a no-brainer. MM and crew should win all the catagories. This is the best place on the net to find current, interesting, controversial stuff.
PoliticallyIncorrectSandy on November 3, 2007 at 11:05 AM
Shameless plug for Best New Blog.
Treats for all who vote.
JammieWearingFool on November 3, 2007 at 11:06 AM
p.s. to John: there will be no “core issues” to be concerned about if the terrorists win.
You’re right. Maybe we don’t need a war with Iran. We just need to destroy their nuke capabilities. And send Iminajihad on a VERY long vacation…
PoliticallyIncorrectSandy on November 3, 2007 at 11:08 AM
Aww. We all love ya’ Allah. Wouldn’t be the same here without you.

liberrocky on November 3, 2007 at 11:33 AM

Allahpundit on November 3, 2007 at 11:49 AM
Victorian mores? What a silly comment. He can and does post whatever he wants. If people don’t like it they can simply bugger off to comment at some other blog.
aengus on November 3, 2007 at 11:53 AM
OK, ego stroke, but the HA crew deserves it.
AP’s post, when KP took on Karen Hanretty on FOX news a few months back, was pure poetry from the writing to the video to the sour puss look on both their faces, that was used as the screen cap. It made me take notice of not only how well all of you write and put these posts together but the speed at which you all do it. Not to mention Michelle has a whole other blog going among many other things in your the lives. With Kids, I personally don’t see how you all do it. Since that day of AP’s post, I have paid attention to the quality of and quantity of material you all put out. IMHO, honestly I get more news in ONE day from Hot Air, Michelle Malkin and a couple other blogs than ALL of television news combined could give in a WEEK.
Hot Air is the best! I guess you could say I’m kind of a fan. He He.– Any award HA gets would be nice and much deserved but we (the gaggle) already know you are the cream that has risen to the top.
abinitioadinfinitum on November 3, 2007 at 11:55 AM
AP, I demand you wear a solitary vice.
aengus on November 3, 2007 at 11:57 AM
Voted.
I won’t get involved in the who’s better than who argument about Allah and Bryan. I do agree with what one commenter seemed to suggest. They are kinda like alter egos. Not opposites, but complimentery of one another. They are a good balance. Together they make this a great blog. Probably the genius of Michelle to mix these two talents together to create what IS Hot Air.
Jay on November 3, 2007 at 12:06 PM
Yup.
aengus on November 3, 2007 at 12:08 PM
Has anyone read Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? Terrible book imo but an interesting concept all the same.
aengus on November 3, 2007 at 12:10 PM
Eh I’m not suggesting that AP and Bryan are like that book by the way in case you’re offended. I’m just interested in the concept of duality. The Jungian thing.
aengus on November 3, 2007 at 12:14 PM
Agreed despite my increasingly infrequent visits.
I was rather shocked not to see HotAir nominated for ‘Best Internet Community.’
I admit I’m not familiar with some of the others … but I’ve been to LGF – and their comments threads may be longer (sometimes), but they can’t hold a candle to some here.
Who nominates for these things, anyway?
Professor Blather on November 3, 2007 at 12:16 PM
Oh – and please, please, please vote DUmmieFUnnies for funniest blog!
Just imagine the response from DU!

Agreed. I’m continually amazed how well written and yet so quickly they are put up. It makes me cry when I look at my own writing and stuff.

Bryan on November 3, 2007 at 12:24 PM
Insert eye roll emoticon here.
You know, if you wouldn’t respond so utterly predictably every time somebody leaves a post like that, the ceremonial tradition would probably die on its own.
You dance like a marionette every time somebody pulls your strings. Quit dancing, they’ll quit pulling.
Now if you want me to write your predictable will-appear-within-4-posts response to this, let me know. I already know what it’ll be: self-deprecating, passive-aggressive, “woe is me” snark. Nuance, don’t ya know?
Oh, wait. What do you do now? Do you respond? Cuz that proves me right. So you should not respond. No, wait. That’s predictable, too. What a quandary. Let me know if you figure it out, puppet boy.
Insert final eye roll emoticon here, with the little eye-rolling guy watching as AP struggles to figure out which, if any, strings I’m pulling, and which response will be most likely to make me laugh.

Maxx on November 3, 2007 at 12:57 PM
I surfed over and voted for HotAir on the Weblog Awards. But the way they have it set up is goofy. If you read the rules you will find you can vote in each category once every 24 hours. The site is obviously set up for traffic and is…. in my opinion, not set up to fairly capture who people really is best in each category.
Who wants to make it a daily affair to go over there and vote, that’s nuts, people have better things to do. If they changed it so your vote counted only once a month or once every quarter or every six months, then they would have something. But the way it is now, it’s just an attempt to grab as much traffic as possible.
Maxx on November 3, 2007 at 1:07 PM
With Hillary making a jackass of herself I really miss the photshops on the ol’ allahpundit.com. With Ms. Humina in the news that could be quite a tittilating theme.

Kudos Guys!!
Isn’t one of you suppose to be on vacation? Anyone, anyone, AP?
Kini on November 3, 2007 at 3:23 PM
First thing which came to mind “AP will probably vote for MKH”, and free he is to do so because I also wouldn’t join any club which would have me – Grouchomarxian is not bad.
Then the “Bryan is better than all” – that for the HA family is similar to loving kids or siblings more than others. It’s simpy impossibe for so many reasons and not good. I love HA for many reasons, matter of fact I’m addicted to it, most of all because it’s so diverse, including by its masters. They bring such differing talents to the unit. I still miss not having known about AP’s other blog.
Then this
Dude, you left out your repeatedly-self-designated “beta”. Also, the Professor described some of your reactions to perfection. But you are completely alpha in handling opposition. It’s one of the strength, among so many talents, wit, and intelligence that I appreciate about you.
PatrickS, you should definitely consider posting more often. Whenever you do, it’s jewels – and I don’t write this because of what you wrote today.
I want the Professor, pablo, the Kid, labwrs, RushBaby and a a few others back, to comment with the initial frequency. If I left some names out – it’s simply the nature of starting a list – invariably one misses some – please not to take personally. I enjoy all comments and love to joust with any of you. It’s all a matter of time, topic, mood, agreement or opposition.
May the fun last for a long time. Thank you all, big bloggers, small, and all other ‘critters’ here, and from related blogs.
p.s. I voted for all who asked for, including HA. Still, don’t ever call me a socialist or a democrat.

I have but two words – MORE VENTS!
And why would we want the AoS crowd here? :-)
steveegg on November 3, 2007 at 3:25 PM
I started voting yesterday, and have already turned in two for HotAir, plus two for Michelle for “Best Conservative Blog”. REMEMBER YOU CAN VOTE ONCE A DAY!!!
reine.de.tout on November 3, 2007 at 3:34 PM
This has happened twice now.
I select my choice by putting the cursor over it. The screen JUMPS UP and a selection OTHER than the one I want (in this case Hot Air) gets highlighted.
When I move the curser over Hot Air and click, it gets highlighted but I get a message at the top that says I’ve voted within the previous 24 hours.
This has happened TWICE out of two attempts to vote in two different categories now.
I’m calling this “selection” *FIXED*
If I wanted rigged elections, I’d have stayed in Chicago….
Sorry, Michelle. I tried.
georgej on November 3, 2007 at 3:43 PM
Do not click on any box initially. When the screen “jumps up”, then click on the choice (cough…HamNation…cough)

Why was Hot Air not listed under politics?
I did not see the Kool-Aide drinking Kos Kids anywhere. Or did I overlook?
