Always liked him. Wasn’t one of the big fans of the show, because the woman in it annoyed me, but he pretty much owned King right there.

Larry King has never been known as someone who knows what he is talking about. He is at his best groveling before some B list hasbeen. I mean, how many times as he genuflected before Suzanne Somers. When Letterman interviews these selfabsorbed Hollywood types, he sounds and acts bored to death. He even says so after the guest leaves the show. But for King, I get the impression that he is genuinely thrilled to be in the presence of such greatness. About two years ago, He was interviewing Jennifer Beales (who has not been heard from since 1983 with Flashdance) and King was positively giddy. He thought he would get down and jiggy with his guest.
King was even sycophantic with Louis Farrakhan. Farrakhan began a sentence by saying: “Mr. King…” and then Farrakhan went on a rift about “The Jews” and how Judiasm really was “a gutter religion”. When Farrakhan finally needed to take a breather, all King would do is say: “Please, call me Larry”. King is like the kid in high school who is kind of nerdy and thinks if he hangs around the star of the football team, he will seem cool.

That’s all right. His wife Andrea Mitchell mixes up the words Vietnam and Iraq about half the time she speaks. Oh wait, she’s married to Greenspan. I have to keep my cast of “characters” straight. Sadly Seinfeld will be the Larry King of his era some day. It’s hard to stay hip.

Larry King obviously knew the answer to the question he was asking and Jerry Seinfeld used it as an opportunity to make a joke.

What makes you think Larry King “obviously” knew the answer to his question? As Bryan notes above, Larry famously admits that he NEVER prepares for his interviews.

I’m not a big Seinfeld fan, but I liked him after this segment!

The odd part is that the caption reading “Seinfeld cancelled?” ran across the screen. What’s up with that? Surely King doesn’t take any part in deciding what caption to run. So does the production crew not know who Seinfeld is either?
