Video: Mitt joins the parade against Hillary, too

His best ad yet, using his best moment from the last debate as a springboard. Nothing too flashy, but appreciate the economy of packing an attack on the Democrats’ 400-lb. gorilla and an array of candidate biography into one trim 30-second spot. I like it much better than those “come, let us walk in the garden and speak of jihad” clips he’s been running until now.
Admittedly, you lose something of the personal touch with an ad like this but Mitt doesn’t need to worry about that. He’s been doing gauzy paterfamilias stuff for awhile now. Let’s see more of the qualifications.

Great minds…I was just working on a post about this ad. It’s a solid ad that makes an obvious point, which is that Hillary hasn’t run anything other than her mouth in her entire career.
Bryan on November 2, 2007 at 10:24 AM
Verrrry good.
LtE126 on November 2, 2007 at 10:25 AM
Also kind of slick that he worked the word “internship” into that.
mikeyboss on November 2, 2007 at 10:27 AM
Excellent. Much better than Fred sittin’ in the corner of the ol’ folks home.
There are doubters among you but I think Mitt would take the gloves off and rip her apart when they are the nominees next year.
Brat on November 2, 2007 at 10:29 AM
I wonder if foxnews will request that Mitt not use their footage, like they did with McCain. Hopefully not because both are excellent ads.
Complete7 on November 2, 2007 at 10:30 AM
That is a great ad. The best part is, Hillary has nothing with which to counter. She’s even worse off than Waffles, who at least had a military record.
Slublog on November 2, 2007 at 10:31 AM
Corner store. Ha Ha Ha. The only thing Her Thighness has run is her mouth.
Wade on November 2, 2007 at 10:32 AM
I don’t know why, but we should be at these things like the goofy left is, chanting at Hillary like they used to at Wayne Gretzky when he’d go crying to the refs…”WHINER, WHIIIIIIINER…..WHIIIIIINER” She’s so thin skinned it would drive her crazy. She couldn’t handle it.
LtE126 on November 2, 2007 at 10:34 AM
I gotta agree with you AP. This was a much better format. I wonder if he had a change up in his ad team or have they been waiting in the weeds until she screwed up and it was time to pounce? I suspect the latter because Mitt isn’t parroting the gaff Hillary made in the debate, but rather he is cementing the connection between her gaff and her zero experience. Getting that connection is a clear concise way is going to make it very tough for people to hear her use the word experience and NOT remember that she REALLY has NEVER run ANYTHING, regardless of her rhetoric.
“Hillary hasn’t run anything other than her mouth in her entire career.”
Ha! Good one Bryan.
csdeven on November 2, 2007 at 10:36 AM
Very good ad.
saiga on November 2, 2007 at 10:41 AM
It’s definitely time for Mitt to take the gloves off and going after Hillary is much more effective than going after his Primary opponents.
Gotta love the intern reference. There is just so much piling on going on! Woe is Hillary.

I like this ad because it’s not just a negative. The jab at Clinton is a nice bit for the base, but I like how Mitt follows with his strongest credential. He should be pushing his ability to effectively manage and run stuff a lot more. It’s the one thing where none of the other contenders can match him.
BadgerHawk on November 2, 2007 at 10:49 AM
I loved it.
Hillary as a “White House intern” !!!!
Gulp!!!!
Labamigo on November 2, 2007 at 10:52 AM
I’ve that that several times in other comments, but I just now got it after reading yours.
hahaha!!!
csdeven on November 2, 2007 at 10:59 AM
Good quote from B.O. re: bundling Hillary’s “experience” and the archived papers.
Brat on November 2, 2007 at 11:14 AM
awesome ad. Hilary sounds like she is running for PTA president.
ctmom on November 2, 2007 at 11:14 AM
Repubs need to continue to drive this point home. What is her experience? Is Bill really the Prez again illegally? Is she man enough when challenged by men to be POTUS? She is not the innocent female victim, but a savvy lawyer. Push her to release her papers that prove her experience so that the public can evaluate it?
apostle53 on November 2, 2007 at 11:41 AM
Great ad. I don’t know why Romney fails the smell test so much. I’m not necessarily against him and would support him were he the nominee, but he just can’t catch on.
Though I am a little leery that csdeven supports him so…maniacally.
Darksean on November 2, 2007 at 11:49 AM
MITT ‘08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Jared_MA on November 2, 2007 at 11:52 AM
That really is a great ad.
I almost hate to bring this up because forming an association in any way with Olberman can only hurt the good man Mitt, but, is it possible that Mitt and KO are the same person? My goodness, watching that commercial all I could think was that he looks exactly like KO minus the glasses. Perhaps it is like a Superman/Clark Kent senario? With the glasses he’s a pink panty wearing whiney BDS spewing liberal, without the glasses he becomes a Hillary Clinton attacking/Governer/Business Tycoon soon to be President of the Untied States. Has anybody ever seen the two in the same room at the same time?
Zetterson on November 2, 2007 at 12:01 PM
He was once named one of the top 10 RINOs, but changed numerous positions almost overnight prior to his campaign in order to sound more conservative. He also comes off as a finger-to-the-wind, focus group driven slickster who’ll say anything to get votes without having a core political philosophy, so yeah- he just don’t smell right. (though it could be all the hair gel)
He simply inspires little confidence that his current positions (which often conflict with his previous but recent ones) would remain current posistions if elected.
There’s also his support for certain big government programs (increased foreign aid, ag subsidies, corporate welfare for the auto industry, medicare reform, etc) which induce skepticism about his claims to be a fiscal conservative. He also supports increased federal gun control, which doesn’t do much to win over 2nd amendment enthusiasts.
Hollowpoint on November 2, 2007 at 12:51 PM
Edwards has a nice ad out.
bnelson44 on November 2, 2007 at 1:17 PM
Agreed, great ad. More of this, less of the touchy-feely stuff, please. Hammer the experience issue again and again, because Hillary can’t argue it — she can only change the subject, and when she does, Mitt can hammer her for that, too.
Hollowpoint, give it a rest. Your anti-Mitt screed is getting tiresome.
Splashman on November 2, 2007 at 1:17 PM
He’s very likable, evidently a very good businessman, but a little too liberal in some areas…To beat the Hag in ‘08 we need a real conservative, not another rino like Bush turned out to be. We need a man like Tancredo or Hunter…low tier men with heart’s for their country not their office and power.
oldernslower on November 2, 2007 at 1:18 PM
Uh — just to clarify, I was talking about Mitt’s ad, not Silky’s.
Splashman on November 2, 2007 at 1:18 PM
Great ad by Mitt. Hillary as an internship, good stuff!
Of course, the first thing I thought of when I saw the post is that Hollowpoint would be here. I can’t think of anyone on the Right who wouldn’t agree with this ad except Hollowpoint. After all, it shows off one of Mitt’s strenghts… and he(or is it she?) can’t have that!
Bashing Hillary, promoting yourself at the same time in a very effective manner (without taking down any other Republican)…. what’s not to like?
Vanceone on November 2, 2007 at 1:21 PM
I have to agree, that was a very good and very effective ad.
rhuppertz on November 2, 2007 at 1:26 PM
THOU SHALT NOT TAKE THE NAME OF YOUR LORD MITT IN VAIN.
Hollowpoint on November 2, 2007 at 1:27 PM
Much better clip. Nice job, Mitt Camp.
MikeZero on November 2, 2007 at 1:35 PM
Hill is unqualified for that job as well.
Wingo on November 2, 2007 at 1:59 PM
decent ad.
I am far more concerned with electability because Hillary scares the crap outta me.
I don’t see Mitt being electable, especially in the south.
Sammy316 on November 2, 2007 at 5:42 PM
I dunno. The more I think about the, “I have experience running a business/government job, she does not” thing, I think it’s a little empty. I run a business…does that mean I’m more qualified than Hillary Clinton to run the United States?
It’ll be an “internship” as Mitt likes to say for all of them…Mitt included.
And by the way…I’ll be supporting whoever the Republican candidate is.
asc85 on November 2, 2007 at 6:07 PM
The answer to your question is an emphatic “yes”
Medicated on November 2, 2007 at 6:45 PM
The only people in the south who wont vote for Mitt because of his faith are simply bigots. Thankfully, the rest of America, not so much.
