Gore opposed the Iraq invasion on September 23, 2002? I do believe he was opposing the timing and way it was being planned, not the actual idea of invading Iraq and removing Saddam Hussein. Here's more from his speech that day:

"There is a case to be made that further delay only works to Saddam Hussein's advantage, and the clock should be seen to have been running on the issue of compliance for a decade, therefore not needing to be reset again to the starting point. But to the extent that we have any concern about international support, whether for its political or material value or for its necessity in winning the war against terrorism, hurrying the process could be costly. Even those who now agree that Saddam Hussein must go may divide deeply over the wisdom of presenting the United States as impatient for war."

Gore on the prospects for success on going into Iraq unilaterally:

"Now one of the central points I want to make here today is that we have an obligation to look at the relationship between our war against terrorism and this proposed war against Iraq. We have a goal of regime change in Iraq, we have had for a number of years. We also have a clear goal of victory in the war against terror. In the case of Iraq, it would be difficult to go it alone, but it's theoretically possible to achieve our goals in Iraq unilaterally."

I'm sorry, but that campaign commercial is a lie, which isn't odd, since Gore and the other prominent Democrats have been trying to rewrite history ever since the summer of 2003.
