Video: The obligatory “cheerleader gets run over” clip

posted at 8:59 am on October 30, 2007 by Allahpundit

The viral video equivalent of a rorschach inkblot. Is it performance art commentary on the oppression of women? A political metaphor for our electoral chances next year? Or some sort of murky sexual allegory per last night’s quote of the day?

It’s the Internet. It’s whatever you want it to be.

I do like the rat-a-tat-tat multiple replay, though.

News people, can a person be any more vapid than the woman in the middle? The two guy’s sure try.

deadbackpacker on October 30, 2007 at 9:27 AM

Could’ve been right out of a Wiley Coyote/Road Runner cartoon.

Shy Guy on October 30, 2007 at 9:28 AM

Another “not too bright” one makes a play for internet fame.

bbz123 on October 30, 2007 at 9:28 AM

The outcome will disappoint the folks at the Darwin awards.

thuja on October 30, 2007 at 9:39 AM

Nowhere near as fun as the band on the field.

My very first thought: she may be a future Darwin award winner.

Professor Blather on October 30, 2007 at 9:47 AM

I expect to hear Road Runner on the soundtrack:

BEEP BEEP !!!!

Always Right on October 30, 2007 at 9:59 AM

To me this one is WAAAAY funnier than the model falling thru the hole in the runway video.

But then, I love football.

Always Right on October 30, 2007 at 10:01 AM

Did they actually say “hanging chad”?? Ugh.

tickleddragon on October 30, 2007 at 10:15 AM

Wow! Hilarious video…

Jaibones on October 30, 2007 at 10:21 AM

I do like the rat-a-tat-tat multiple replay, though.

That part looked like one of Kenny Blankenship’s Most Painful Eliminations of the Day from MXC.

ReubenJCogburn on October 30, 2007 at 10:27 AM

Pwned.

I swear I’ve seen a lot of stuff in my life but that was AWESOME! – and she is ok too.

woodman on October 30, 2007 at 10:57 AM

This just in from KOMO News 4 – “The remarkably effective head protection demonstrated by a cheerleader’s crown last weekend has led the NCAA to switch to the regular use of such crowns, replacing standard football helmets for its teams…”

eeyore on October 30, 2007 at 10:58 AM

I don’t get what’s so shocking here…aren’t cheerleaders always getting banged by football players?

liberrocky on October 30, 2007 at 11:04 AM

lol i almost short coffee out my nose

Mojack420 on October 30, 2007 at 11:15 AM

Guy anchor conveniently leaves out the “she’s okay” bit, as if that had any bearing on whether or not the situation is humourous, for guys.

Female anchor makes sure to mention immediately “she’s okay” so we all know it’s okay to laugh.

TexasDan on October 30, 2007 at 11:41 AM

This is the level of intellectual prowess our universities are putting out…I fear for our future…

doriangrey on October 30, 2007 at 11:48 AM

I’m looking for volunteers for a scientific study of the long term effects of tackling cheerleaders. Anyone interested?

pedestrian on October 30, 2007 at 11:59 AM

That girl is LUCKY that she didn’t get seriously injured. It isn’t just one guy, it could have been the whole football team. I was scared for her.

ThackerAgency on October 30, 2007 at 12:28 PM

Look for the St. Louis Rams to sign her as on offensive lineman in the next few days.

Ole!!

Mike D. on October 30, 2007 at 12:39 PM

She was okay, but what about the player that ran into her? Maybe he’ll ask her on a date! Would give new meaning to “smashing”.

SouthernGent on October 30, 2007 at 12:44 PM

So much for pathos.

Kini on October 30, 2007 at 1:25 PM

No doubt, another “honor student.” At any rate, she’s just made her acquaintance with the common-sense term … reasonable foreseeability.

Maybe, now, she’ll have the intellectual capacity to avoid walking down the center line of a busy street.

OhEssYouCowboys on October 30, 2007 at 1:38 PM

Wow. You folks can be a TOUGH and unsympathetic audience.

When I saw this on TV last night, my first thought was how lucky she was to NOT have been seriously injured. She could have suffered a broken bone, concussion, neck or spinal cord injury. Or even a broken rib/punctured lung.

And a player tripping over her could have been injured too.

Yes, she did a dumb thing. But haven’t we all at one time or another? When I think of all the dumb-ass things I did as a teenager, I marvel that I survived.

Someone coulda got hurt even kilt.

TheSitRep on October 30, 2007 at 4:41 PM

I think they should have Cheerleaders watch vids in training like the Airforce and Police do. This isn’t the first time this has happened and there are a bunch of these on youtube.

There are many alternatives available here:

1) Football player who knocked cheerleader down is investigated for sexual harassment/misconduct. Found guilty, he’s expelled, turns to a life of crime, incarcerated, and then really learns about “sexual misconduct”.

2) Cheerleader’s family sues school district. Citing lax supervision of cheerleaders and unnecessarily opaque signage, the district settles out of court for 48 million dollars. Cheerleader and her mom are seen partying with Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears….

darkpixel on October 30, 2007 at 6:17 PM

Vapid TV Anchor Followup Comment of the Day: the anchor-chick’s compelling need to say, 1) “but she’s okay…” (when sports-dude just told us that) tied with 1a) “…poor thing.”

A Mind is a terrible thing… Too many hair spray fumes.

Oh, and this gets a gazillion YouTube hits while “Friday Night Lights” teeters on the precipice on NBC? There is no justice…
