“Sorry – just don’t get the joke here” – ninjas are masters of stealth, and can only be detected when they allow you to see them. The joke is that (a) people normally go to a parade to see something (b) people might love to see ninjas, because ninjas are cool but (c) ninjas are undetectable, and thus a parade of ninjas would be a blank empty space. Subversion of expectations, that’s the key.

Heh. Sounds like an attempted parody of taoist musings or a play on the lengadary ninja arts of concealment. It’s kind of hard to tell how deeply these guys understand ninja lore, but probably not very.

It might be a good philosophical metaphor.

After all, much of philosophy of science admits that science tends to be more conceptual in nature, and not based on direct, empirical observation.

That is why if we accept the unrealistic, rigid strong version of empiricism, one negative consequence is that we will have to reject much of what we do already know in science.
