Video: Town gathers for annual ninja parade

As Tom Tancredo might say of the North American Union, just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it’s not there.

I think it’s a religious metaphor.

Ask a Ninja would like to have a word with ONN.

The Big A

It might be a good philosophical metaphor.

After all, much of philosophy of science admits that science tends to be more conceptual in nature, and not based on direct, empirical observation.

That is why if we accept the unrealistic, rigid strong version of empiricism, one negative consequence is that we will have to reject much of what we do already know in science.

Bwah ha ha ha (gasp) ha ha ha ha!!

Where are the people asking if this is an actual news report? Or are we finally getting this is a joke? :)

This parade should be nominated for a nobel peace prize!!!!!!

Even for the “ONN Network” this was demonstrably unfunny, and, without a hint of irony. Sorry – just don’t get the joke here.

thedecider on October 29, 2007 at 11:27 PM

Did the ninjas in the parade flip out and start killing people?

Bad Candy on October 29, 2007 at 11:56 PM

I don’t think so, Bad Candy, it seems that they were handing out candy though.

“Shirotori Kuroii Kage” (白鳥黒い影)
-
White bird (swan) black shadow (silhouette)

Heh. Sounds like an attempted parody of taoist musings or a play on the lengadary ninja arts of concealment. It’s kind of hard to tell how deeply these guys understand ninja lore, but probably not very.
-
The report is undeniably dumb, but also kind of cute in a sappy way. It’s good for a chuckle or two.

Now THAT was funny!

Brought to you by Al Gore’s Current TV. Is there anything that man can’t do?

If a Ninja kills you in a forest does it make a sound?

Neo on October 30, 2007 at 11:44 AM

“Sorry – just don’t get the joke here” – ninjas are masters of stealth, and can only be detected when they allow you to see them. The joke is that (a) people normally go to a parade to see something (b) people might love to see ninjas, because ninjas are cool but (c) ninjas are undetectable, and thus a parade of ninjas would be a blank empty space. Subversion of expectations, that’s the key.
