I think Sarkozy was extremely polite to Stahl. Probably more polite than she deserved.

I think it was quite rude and disrespectful of her to ask him questions about his wife and the state of their marriage. This may come as a huge shock to the lefty Grandees of the MSM, but people’s private lives, even those of prominent public figures, i.e. the President of France, are none of their damn business.

You’ll notice when she asked about his wife she slipped in a reference to his Press Secretary whom she knew he was upset with. It was a deliberate, pernicious attempt to goad him. I would side with anyone this happened to even if they were a leftie because it has happened to me and its very unpleasant being provoked in this manner. Sarko is a good man and I wish him well.

Sarkozy is wonderful. My husband works for a French owned company, and it is such a relief to know that there is someone running the country with a good head on his shoulders now.

Leslie Stahl deserved worse than what she got. She tried to turn a great inspiring and hopeful interview into a sleeze show. No one cares about his private life, we just want to know how he’s going to turn France into a real ally again.

And what the heck is she trying to cover up with those bangs??

I think he was great. A useless interview is scheduled when he was busy trying to save a dying country. She starts asking questions he feels are out of line and lets her know and when she persists he ends the interview and goes back to work. She is used to the spineless American politicians kowtowing to her and acting like she is deserving of some kind of reverence and obedience. A dryed up, old, irrelevant liberal propagandist.

Degrees of organization and degrees of religious indoctrination and motivation will all vary from place to place and time to time, as muslims continue their expansion. The particulars don’t seem to matter except insofar as they’re useful in preserving and enlarging our excellence, freedom, and wellbeing. To those ends, it seems best to put the riots down first, and then to inquire into the causes and remove them. And it seems that you have removed the causes of riots when those causes can no longer think of rioting.

To understand Leslie Stahl’s interview with President Sarkozy, you have to understand Ms. Stahl’s background. She is a dyed in the wool baby boomer, whose finest moments in her career came when she could join the gang up on Nixon and other Republicans. Ms. Stahl adores Jacques Chirac and Chirac’s imperious antiAmerican attitude would find deep resonance with people like Leslie Stahl. Ms. Stahl likely adored Charles De Gaulle’s constant criticims of the US and Georges Pompidou’s public embrace of the Arab world. Her interview with President Sarkozy expressed amazement and dissapointment that any French citizen could find something to admire about the United State.
