And you’re speaking from experience I assume? Didn’t think so. The simple fact is that US support of this technique makes it free game to use against US soldiers in every future conflict. As someone who spent 16 years in the military, I think that’s a bad thing. So when this is used against my brothers and sisters who remain in the service, I expect you’ll heartily endorse it as both a legal and effective technique, right?

The only problem with that is that you are taking their definition of “terrorist scum bag[s]” on faith. You’re assuming them to be guilty, even though their lack of charge and lack of trial tends to suggest that their guilt is far from provable. The U.S. government holds that it has the right to detain American citizens (or citizens of other countries) either from American soil or foreign soil, hold them indefinitely without charge, and subject them to torture (or, at least borderline torture), either at their hands or at the hands of foreign agents (and the foreign agents actually do torture people — they go way beyond waterboarding). It’d certainly be an easier issue to deal with if they were all guilty. But they’re not, and you can’t get around that. So play the hand that was dealt.

Out of curiosity, I might be convinced into seeing what waterboarding is like. I can never be convinced though to see what it’s like to have my fingernails ripped from me.

A DUer and his brother waterboarded each other to prove that it is torture. The first time, he lasted 9 seconds and he said it was terrifying. But then he……

Actually, the mindset of the left seems more like if it is bad, then it must be torture.

And I should know…I have severe asthma, and an attack is like being suffocated…not quite torture, as (other than death) I can imagine worse. Much worse.

The real argument is that liberals feel that the whole planet is bequeathed with the right to do as they please, and we are not to make judgments, especially if their actions are against Americans. Non-uniformed combatants, hiding behind women and children, caught with weapons during a gun battle, should be read their Miranda rights, have the right to an attorney, a jury trial in Oshkosh, should have the names, addresses, and travel itineraries of their accusers and witnesses, etc. In other words, the world population are honorary citizens of the US. Our sovereignty be damned.

I mean, sleep deprivation, removal of clothing (against your will I presume), exposure to extreme temperatures; that was just college (don’t drink so much you pass out outside in November in Kansas… and if you slept during finals week, you didn’t have enough coffee).

But if they had locked me in my room, I’d have been screaming bloody murder… that’d be real torture. Much worse than the rest.

17 year old kid “waterboards” himself and his brother. According to him, “CIA officers who subject themselves to it only last an average of 14 seconds. And those are people who are trained to withstand different types of torture.”

This kid went multiple times and once lasted 20 seconds! He must be, like, a Super Tough Guy! Like, 50% tougher than those CIA wimps!
