A transparent bid for attention from American Internet users. Here’s my two bits, boys. Done and done. I’m not made of stone.
You had me at “massive traffic.”
93. MICHELLE MALKIN
Blogger and authorBorn in Philadelphia to Filipino parents, Malkin’s michellemalkin.com and Hot Air websites attract massive traffic while her column is syndicated to 200 newspapers. She has enthusiastically embraced multi-media to spread her message and take the Liberal mainstream media to task.
Her outspoken opposition to “amnesty” for illegal immigrants reflects the views of most grassroots Conservatives. At 37 and already battle-tested in the culture wars, her influence looks certain to grow and grow.
The Telegraph is both foreign (i.e. British) and conservative, which explains the unusually sneer-free tone here. Although the reference to her ethnic background is kind of curious.
Here’s the liberal list of 81-100. They’ll be rolling out the rest of it each day this week. Exit question one: As much as we cherish the boss, is anyone on that list really more influential than, um, Peter Pace? Exit question two: How sweet is it that she’s three rungs above the rEVOLution? Just the thought of Paulnuts reading that and my week is made.

Yeah, I mentioned in the “headlines” thread that, because I knew I saw that somewhere before, is simply sifted right off the Wikipedia page for Michelle Malkin.

I like to think of myself as smart, but do you know how long it took me to figure out that Ron Paul sign with rEVOLution? All the way up to this weekend when I was on LGF reading badly spelled protest signs. I couldn’t figure out why Ron Paul supporters were randomly putting capital letters in their signs and how stupid it looked….

Oh and by the way, Mazel Tov, Michelle. Well done!!
mjk on October 29, 2007 at 10:27 AM
Frankly, I like the ethnic reference. In M’s case it says a lot about assimilation, education and hard work producing noteworthy success in this ethnically-blind free nation.
Liberal unhinged haters excluded, of course.
T J Green on October 29, 2007 at 10:28 AM
Although not racist. Strange how that works with conservatives, eh?

My heroine when I need a fix.
saved on October 29, 2007 at 10:28 AM
I don’t think it’s racist per se to mention it.
To mispronounce it in a hyperethnic way like the exceedingly tolerant Keith Olbermann does? That’s racist.
Allahpundit on October 29, 2007 at 10:31 AM
It’s probably nothing.
People outside the US are not as sensitive / cringy about mentioning people’s ethnicity, and this is one example of it.
AlexB on October 29, 2007 at 10:33 AM
Michelle should be in the top ten for influential in my opinion. And perhaps Bill O’Reilly is more “influential” than Michelle, but that’s only because Bill has his own show. Influential does not equal “trustworthy” and in the trustworthy category Michelle is at the top of the list, without a doubt. Michelle has more integrity in her little finger than most so called conservatives have in their entire being. Michelle rules !!
Maxx on October 29, 2007 at 10:41 AM
From a position of #93 she led an effort that ended up defeating both the Bush administration and the Democrats on amnesty for illegals, scaring the Wall Street Journal into coming up with conspiracy theories in the process.
I guess what I’m saying is, it’s useful to be underestimated.
Bryan on October 29, 2007 at 10:46 AM
Pretty telling also, considering Paul and Kissinger are neck and neck. Those funny brits getting a dig in with Craig @ 89?

Only 93rd? Heck, the only conservative columnist I read with any regularity is The Boss and have been doing for as long as I can remember having the internet, so that’s gotta be over a decade.
I demand a recount!
Krydor on October 29, 2007 at 10:50 AM
Bravo, Michelle! As I said a few weeks ago, you are a young lady with a heck of a future. Vibrant and clear-thinking, you give conservative boomers who fought the damaging liberalism of our peers hope that all is not lost.
Connie on October 29, 2007 at 10:51 AM
I think she should be higher on the list because she is a uniter and not a divider.
What other site brings together an atheist (AllahP)and a born again (Bryan) so harmoniously?

I did not know Michelle is 37, she looks more like 27.
terryannonline on October 29, 2007 at 10:55 AM
I don’t think it is curious at all. I believe this is pretty common or at least it is here in L. A. where everyone comes from somewhere else…
Anyway, glad to see she is being recognized.
CCRWM on October 29, 2007 at 10:55 AM
Congratulations to Michelle for making the list, but 93? I demand a recount.
On the lib list, Jon Stewart is more influential than Ted Kennedy, Howard Dean, Dick Durbin, and Harold Ford? hahahhahah. Either those boys really are washed up, or the libs are in more trouble than we thought. And I believe Mama Moonbat’s influence dried up a while ago. Does anyone listen to her anymore?
Hey, Michelle’s a lefty! I knew we had something in common.
Mallard T. Drake on October 29, 2007 at 10:55 AM
The low ranking, merely reflects the considerable distance and lag between the MSM in their bubble world, and current reality. 93rd may have been the case 4 years ago but the recent defeat of Shamnesty should have the world on Notice.
And how can Larry Craig be making the list at all if not purely from negative impact. Yes, I do recall hearing his name mentioned from time to time in press reports in past years but its his more recent tap dancing episode that, outside of Idaho, has given him a name.
And how can I neglect to mention the number 5 ranking in the Carnegie Mellon Study!
Michelle 10, Kos and Huff-Po, 0
Also I love the new interface, Michelle has been using. If there is a blog with better functionality I haven’t been there.
Then there is the Graphics. Michelle’s esthetics are fabulous! Ofcourse I do give People’s Cube the over all nodd in that area but Michelle of course, has to be more serious.
There you have it. Why I’m a Michelle Malkin/Hot Air junkie.
Nyog_of_the_Bog on October 29, 2007 at 10:56 AM
MM appropriate accolades for your great work and appropriate recognition that you are an up and comer. I sensed that from you first Washington Times Commentary. Finally, you really should be ranked with, or ahead of Mr. O’Riely and Ms. Colltur primarily because of you background and not being afraid to call a spade a spade.
The left must just go bonkers because they are unable to change you or to be able to use you as a poster child.
Jealously is evil and the left must get over themselves.

I mentioned elsewhere a couple of days ago that I would like to see greater effort to bring together conservative minds from around the globe. This would be no easy feat because conservatism does not lend itself easily to any form of collectivism. The closest we get to that is mention on a sidebar.

Congratulations MM, you more than deserve it, as for Almond Joy (Ron Paul), I still don’t understand where people’s heads are shoved?

I agree with you on Larry Craig. I am surprised to see his name on the list. I’m not sure how he is influencing much of anything at all.
I am happy to see Ollie North made the list.

Michelle deserves to be ranked much higher, IMO.
Ron Paul? Larry Craig?

I see St. Cindy made the lib list. How can this be?
One part that jumped out at me about MM, mentioning her age. I recall MM’s visit on hardball way back when. It appeared to be Matthews only curiously sincere question at the time. MM nailed him as a sexist then, how prophetic.

Anybody notice the Telgraph got a fact wrong in their introduction to this piece?
1952: Neither Eisenhower nor Stevenson was an incumbent President or Vice-President.

Well said! I thnk Michelle is an American treasure - a true patriot who is fighting the good fight - and winning. What would the conservative movement have done without her this year? All of the good folks in the new media who took on this Amnesty challenge benefited from her research and reporting - she has warned us about this issue for years!
God bless you Michelle, you are not #93 in our hearts!

RW Wacko on October 29, 2007 at 11:48 AM
Well, it’s not like it could drive them any craziER.
I agree, Michelle’s ranking should be higher, but lists like this are pretty meaningless anyway. To borrow a line from Monty Python, “When you’re King of France, you’ve got better things to do than go around all day remembering your bloody number.” The results are what matter.
ReubenJCogburn on October 29, 2007 at 11:53 AM
The lists are startling for the Big Names at the 81-100 level. The Dems are startling for the pathetic nature of their Big Names. My disgust for the left is beyond my ability with the language to properly describe.
Jaibones on October 29, 2007 at 12:15 PM
When Michelle first burst on the national scene bigtime with Invasion, the “who is she?” biographical stuff was interesting. And I suppose it might still be interesting to people who don’t know the backstory — which probably includes most of the Telegraph’s readers.
Short backstory: Achievement-oriented kid goes to Oberlin, discovers anti-American liberal slackers who expect her to play the “aggrieved minority victim” role they’ve assigned. Consequences ensue.
Ali-Bubba on October 29, 2007 at 12:22 PM
No surprise that our Michelle ranks well. I look forward to the day when we can seriously discuss Michelle’s run for president. Heck, I may write her in this time anyway!

dogsoldier on October 29, 2007 at 12:58 PM
The reference to MM’s ethnic background may be a back-handed compliment in that she has authority to speak on certain issues without anyone being able to throw down the gauntlet of racism.
Congratulations Ms.MM and great picture. Someday we’ll all be able to say, “we knew her when.” Still think you deserve a segment or two on Glenn Beck’s show. You could feed his zany rants and drive FOX nuts. A winning combination all around.

Wow. To be put on this list is awesome. I rank her higher in the way she influenced my thinking but these guys think she nudges the whole nation.
To be on this list will increase her influence
I would have bumped Michelle over Noonan who talks to the Beltway because Michelle lands her missiles on Flyover territory without ever a need to call it ‘The Heartland’.
That said, what a great force for good. Michelle also brings in talent like Spencer, AP, and Bry.
I cannot say enough. I am glad they play up her ethnic background. We need to see the awesome results of immigration done right

You all realize don’t you that some of the greatest people in history were left-handed?
Ah. Do tell (as I buff the fingernails of my LEFT hand).
We’re only about 20% of the population, but we wield influence FAR beyond our numbers, and do this in spite of facing tools and implements designed for the right-handed world, and etymology-based slurs. Left-handed “over achievers” like Michelle (and your humble correspondent), outnumber right-handed ones in terms of percentage of their population. And the number is rising.
No doubt this is due to our superior brains and genetic neural wiring. Y’all may begin your groaning now, righties….
Michelle is ONLY 93rd because she’s holding back. methinks, out of sympathy for the others on the list. She is truly, a warm hearted and gracious lady.
Author Chris McManus (Right-hand, Left-hand) believes that as the proportion of left-handed people arise, the world will see a corresponding intellectual, athletic, and artistic advance — due to us left-handed people.
[How's THIS for "identity politics, brother Jesse and Brother Al? You brothers got nuttin' on us left-handed folks]
Now let me go off and do my little “superior dance.”
(Big Grin)
Thanks for reading, you’ve been a great audience. Drive carefully. Good night and God bless.
georgej on October 29, 2007 at 2:46 PM
Underestimated? Hmmm. Or maybe she’s more like the STEALTH conservative. You know…doesn’t really appear on the liberal’s radar…all the while, quietly lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce in an instant. Sort of like the Batman.
My collie says:
Hmmm. Yes, and I’m sure that the iPhone costume will look adorable on Michelle — on the other hand, how is she going to strike fear into the unhinged with an iPhone costume? Bryan, me thinks that you need to help her find somethin’ scarier — something that scares THEM the way that this year’s Hillary Clinton costume scares me.

I doubt either of you could ask this question without screams of racist coming from every corner of the globe, nevertheless this it the question I would ask of both Obama and Hillary.

Dittos on the 37 thing.
I’d have pegged Michelle as ~28 based on appearance and the level of energy she shows.
Age seems too high, ranking much too low.
If FOX or any other major news organization would pull heir heads out of their *somewhere* and give her a daily hour show, she would be top ten easily.

I love reading Michelle’s column, her books, and her blog sites.
My ten year old daughter knows who Michelle is. Whenver she sees Michelle, such as on television, she’ll call out “Daddy! Michelle Malkin’s on TV!”
Michelle is exceptionally eloquent in her speaking skills, bright, well educated, and strong willed, and she has an excellent, light hearted sense of humor.
She is at once entertaining and informative!
Good for you, Michelle, although I believe that you earned a much higher, closer to number 1 spot, than a 93 spot out of 100.

Michelle you deserve your position as a cultural Icon. However, The Telegraph has provided lists of those at 61-80 for libs and conservatives. Viewing these new lists, I found The Telegraph has just listed Stephen Colbert is number 61 on their liberal list (could not find Jon Stewart on the Conservative list).
Based on this error,I would be interested in how they determined those and their position on their lists.
Therefore, there must be something wrong, and Michelle really deserves to the in the top 10 which I suspect will be released on Friday (if their release of 20 a day remains accurate)

How about a list of the 100 Cutest Conservatives? That should put Michelle at Number One with a bullet.
If they’re going to make a point about Michelle having Filipino ancestry, why aren’t they identifying the ethnic origins of the other conservatives, like Kissinger? You’d think being born in Germany would be a bigger deal than being born in Philadelphia.
And what about Olly North? He looks Scots-Irish to me. Why isn’t that ethnicity featured?
Should anyone care to turn this rotten log of a list over there will be some pretty unappealing racist assumptions scurrying about.
